I have seen many fans on this forum completely writing off Sri Lanka.

Srilanka went on to beat India who are generally exceptional in ICC tournaments. It is not easy to win chasing 321 but the Lankans did it, and did it with ease. They also performed well in the practice match against the Aussies if I am not wrong.

Shocking to see a lot of fans on this forum almost write off SL and are like "dont worry we will be facing England and doing our level best" or

"India have an easy road to the final, Pak have a tough one"

And so much more, if someone woke up from a coma and came to this forum they would certainly have thought that Srilanka were already beaten by Pakistan and Pakistan are on their merry way to the semi-finals to face England.

Not denying that Pakistan can beat Lanka. But to expect SriLanka to be a walkover is ridiculous to say the least. I think SL have an equal chance of winning as Pakistan

Because they need flat pitches for their batting to come into play.

Nobody has written them off .
Its just that Pakistanis have a soft corner for the srilankans so a defeat is not as scary a possibility.

No offence to any Pakistani fans but I think Sri Lanka has a 55% chance of winning whereas Pakistan has 45% chance in their match..

It's PP so obviously everyone wants Pakistan to do well, I want India v Pakistan final myself so would want Pakistan to win..

I think Sri Lanka will win against us easily. Like South Africa we have few chokers in our playing eleven. I rather loose to Sri lanka than England

OP is funny. Where have you been hanging out? Sri Lanka has a 70-30 chance of beating Pakistan. I have written off Bangladesh completely though in the semis.

Dont think anyone has written them off. People are just looking at the teams and thinking that pak might be able to pull it off because sl have lost quite a few players due to retirements and injuries and bans.

True but somehow after last PCT's performance people(including myself) are assuming Pak bowlers will attack in packs.

I am sorry I don't get it. Does Pak bowlers not attack in packs usually?

Many had written us off to play the SF but here we are so who cares? :)

Bcz PPere are suffering from Recency Bias believing Pak will continue with P=m*v and thrash Sl

On the contrary, everyone is giving Sri Lanka a lot of respect. Specially after that victory against India. Pakistan will find it difficult tomorrow since we don't have a decent batting line-up.

Sri Lanka scored 320 and 360 vs Australia and New Zealand. But guess what ? they lost both of their games comfortably. Kiwis beat them by 5 overs or so chasing 360. Their chase vs us was brilliant I admit, even Kohli couldn't come up with an excuse. But you can't expect this from Sri Lanka every time. Their players need be consistent. On the positive side, Sri Lanka finally has modern day batting line up like England. All their batters look suitable for modern day but they need be consistent and cant be judged based on one match.

i agree with the OP

We are 8th rank team and their is no way we can defeat a 7th rank team or above .we will be thrash by

SL

Half their team is injured or banned. They have a mountain to climb. Doesn't mean they can't win but Pak go into the match as firm favorites.

I wonder how people rated Sri Lanka's line up when they had Jayasuriya, Sanga, Mahela, Dilshan, Murali, Mendis and Malinga when he was bowling at brutal pace :danish. No wonder they went to 2 WC finals, 1 Semi-final, 3 T20 WC finals and probably went to another T20 semi final too.

I think SA choked under pressure. Our team does not deserve to be semi. It will one-sided match

If we beat SL we deserve to be in the semis no matter what you think

what make you think tomorrow exit will guarantee that we will see new faces in the team

just relax and enjoy the game you are thinking too much now days

Sri Lanka is one of the few teams that Pakistan appears not to fear (yet). Still, I would make the Lankans favourites.

Because we have a good record vs SL. But i dont see Pak as firm favourites. If SL bat anywhere close to the level they did vs India then Pak have no chance. Its a 50/50 game for me. Some fans are letting the SA Win get to their heads.

The best and 2nd best asian teams have already qualified for the semis, tomorrow's game will decide which team out of Sri lanka or pakistan is the third best side in asia :srini

I personally love the Lankans, they are my neighbours more than the actual Indian team :) . But I'd take any chance of Pak making the final for the lulz ..

They always lose to us in tournaments

May defeat us this time round with their fearless brand of crickett they play these days

The bowling is about equal for both teams, but Sri Lanka has the better batting and a smart captain. On paper, Sri Lanka has better odds. But if history is any way to go, Pakistan has a slight edge.

If Sri Lanka loses, it's going to be all down to their key players (Tharanga and K Perera) being unavailable.

Yes, reading the comments in this forum has made me understand that the team that qualified for the semi final first is the best Asian team:fizz, the one who became the second to qualify for the semi final is the second best team.:kohli

I thought both sides where neck-neck in world cups. Pak didn't face SL in 07 WC, 13 CT. In 2011 WC Srilanka won I believe?

In WT20s though Pak has good record tho, also beat them in 09 T20WC

pak win it

pak also beat them in CT 2006 (last time we face them in ct)

We beat them in WC 2011 too in SL.

Did I just read in this thread that Sri Lanka has a comparable bowling to Pakistan's? Why are posts like this allowed on this forum? Some posters need to have an IQ check before they are allowed to post again. Disgusting.

This is PAKpassion what do you expect?
And NO. we all are aware that beating SL will be very tough.

If we do that it means we won 2 out of 3 games and even the most die hard pak fans did not expect that.

Lets hope we have a great game and may the best team win.

SL are actually favs. Pakistan's only hope is to bowl them out cheaply because they can't compete with them in a high scoring contest.

Pakistan is favourites for tomorrow's match. Pakistan team is fired up now after their inspirational win against SA and should be able to defeat SL. I have Pak as firm favourites for tomorrow.

Even though, SL humbled India in the last match, but I still think they will lose tomorrow.

Pak's bowling is more varied and will skittle SL below 250 runs.

One word. "Patriotism". There is this unfamiliarity factor with SL team something you cannot ignore. You cannot have plans if you are not familiar with a batsman.

The bookmakers certainly haven't written off SL. According to the odds currently offered by Betfair, the probability of Pakistan winning is about 55% and SL winning is about 45%. Whether SL wins or not depends entirely upon whether their batsmen click like they did against India.

You're probably right about SL scoring ~250. But Pak would be bowled out for 170-180 if they bat last. They are an utterly talent less batting side, and would be a travesty if they progressed beyond the group phase. Babar Azam is their supposedly best batsman, and from what I have seen of him so far, looks more like a hack than a real batsman.

Miracles can happen, but cricket is a beautiful game, and one always wants sides with good batting, bowling and fielding (like England and India) to win.

I think in recent times SL have been better than us in tournaments

There batting is quite good

Keep these opinions to yourself. If Pakistan progress, its going to be because they beat two teams out of three in their group. Group A has a team that qualified after winning one match while they got smashed in the other two. How is that not a 'travesty' and Pakistan qualifying is?

I'll tell you what a travesty is. The fact that all of us have to read such ridiculous posts from Indian trolls day in and day out. Really brings down the quality of discussion on this forum, which is otherwise top-notch.

Being unbiased I can tell you Pakistan has a much better line up than SL. What Pakistan lacks, is intent. Once Pakistan gets going, one can easily write off England against them as well. SL had a good day with batting against India but not every day is a sunny day, their bowling sucks. While Pakistan has a very decent bowling line up. I don't know why people are rating Pakistan so low. I know Pakistan is doing poor in International Arena these days but Pakistan Cricket Team have always been like this. Pakistanis were doing poor back in 1992, were same in 2011, so what have changed? Nothing. For me Pakistan is going in to the Cardiff with a upper hand against SL.

They're a dangerous side and arguably favourites to progress on the basis of their being superior to us.

Srlianka's batting lineup is very good but their bowling is worst of the lot in the tournament.I m expecting "the professor" to score a century he has always performed against them.

Our bowling and fielding is rubbish full of half and over the hill players in the squad. Haven't even played a proper spinner in these matches where spinners have done quite well. That's how messed up the thinking is. Even with the injury to Kusal they called up another bat instead of a proper bowling option lol. Unbelievable! Batting too very inconsistent good one day rubbish the next. One win doesn't change all that.

Frankly, I am nervous about the SL match today .... yes, don't mind admitting it. After what they did to the Indians .... you have to be. This is not to say that we will loose the match, but I won't be surprised if we do loose it !!!! Specially, if we have to chase .... and they know it. So the Toss will be most vital. I am sure they have figured out what to do in case we win the Toss. Much also depends on the weather at start of play !!!! Good luck ... hope we win !!

Their bowling is as good as our batting,it will be a good contest

i see sri lanka winning the game.. dont know its just a gut feeling.. pakistan should bowl first tonight if they win toss

Always always always bat first unless it's stupidly overcast.
Bat these Lankans out of the game like India should have

I don't think anybody is writing them off.
It's an even game and sell depends on how pak start really

No way. Sri Lanka are a dangerous side. Not writing them off at all.

It's unlikely that you'll loose the match. You may, however, lose it.

If Pakistan is to win this game they have to put up a bowling performance similar to that of the previous game.

Because their batsmen are short of skill and confidence. If they can reduce SL to a paltry score then they are going to qualify else it will be a tough ask.

And this has been their age old mantra for approaching these loi games. They just need to execute their bowling and fielding plans to a T like we did yesterday.

Hoping for a competitive game. All the best.

Lol! What you are believing is wrong, Pakistan beaten everyone in their group including Srilanka in 2011 WC except Newzealand.

The display I have seen from Lankan fielding would not be even good enough to deserve associate status leave alone get the team to the semis of an ICC event

Pakistan didn't win this match, Sri Lanka lost it. 3 dropped catches, including one in first over, then twice of Sarfraz and the fielding was just too bad let like 35 runs on the field. I think Lanka deserved to lose. Hopefully they will learn their lesson. Lucky day for Pakistan.
