Last time they toured us was in 2013 and before that - they toured us every 2 years including 2007, 2009 and 2011 whereas we toured SL in 2006, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2015.

I find it strange since both countries boards have cordial relationships with each other and played a lot with each other.

I reckon it is a good time to have them tour the UAE as their team is relatively weak and it would be a good boost for us in our LOI ranking if we beat them as they are still ranked higher than us.

Unfortunately - beating WI did very little for our rankings...

What I would like to know is why South Africa haven't toured the UAE since 2013 and are not scheduled to play us in the UAE at least until 2019. Let's see what happens with the FTP.

Because they all know what will happen in the UAE.

Now that king misbah is gone maybe they will come.

They need to be invited for them to actually tour us in U.A.E. - I think PCB is at fault here !!

SL is a very good team and it would be an extremely well contested series in the U.A.E. if and when they get invited and tour us there !!

Looking forward to it hopefully.............

Yes that is unusual - we had actually played SAF on 3 separate tours in 2013 but have not played since!

The reason I brought SL is because we played against them every year from 2006 to 2015 but have suddenly stopped since...

I think the PCB is focusing on international cricket to Pakistan.

SL were the team that got attacked so PCB knows they cannot deal with them directly on that issue - that is why bilaterals ties are inactive right now.

We are scheduled to play Sri Lanka in the autumn according to the FTP.

Its up to boards to arrange bilateral series. Boards with highly professional relationship and good support from sponsors ensure they play regularly on a fixed schedule.

We are playing them this season, October ish I think. Won't be a very exciting series as they are regressing, would like to see us host Bangladesh

This was much needed break from Sri Lanka, ever since the spot-fixing scandal this was the only team we were playing apart from one off series against other big teams. Most fans were tired of playing Sri Lanka on and on.

Tours should be on a 4 year cycle just like the Ashes with the teams playing each other home and away every 2 years. Of course touring Australia and South Africa after 6 years is way too long but we get whitewashed there in tests so why would they invite us? For that reason we invite them less too, but now is the time to face a weakened Sri Lanka and climb the rankings.

Cause it is the most boring series imaginable, I'm already dreading the tour at the end of this year. I wish that we could play all our matches with Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka, as the pitches are at least interesting and conducive for both batsmen and bowlers.

We have played Sri Lanka a lot over the years anyway. Wouldn't mind a series vs South Africa or Bangladesh in UAE.

Oh no not Sr Lanka or Bangladesh again! We need to play the top teams much more if we're to improve. Would rather play Ireland or Afghanistan then the other two.

They feared Misbah ul Haq, now that he has retired they are likely to play us in the UAE soon

They are afraid that they will lose serious points when they will lose to us as we are a lower ranked team than them in ODIs.

As the great king Joffrey once said, in every relationship there comes a time when you need to take a break and see other ppl. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I would rather play SL than not play at all.

We had some good cricket matches against them and generally cordial relations between the boards so no reason to discontinue that IMO.

haha we played them in 2015 as well remember?

The Pakellele chase?

Is Pallekele in the UAE? ;)

Oh I thought you were talking about the last time we played and not specifically in the UAE.

Regardless - we did not play SL in 2016 considering we have played them EVERY year since 2006.
