Why is Imam-ul-Haq only in the firing line and not Haris Sohail for the same "crime"?

While all guns are aiming towards Imam for low SR and playing 80s style ODI cricket , what about the more experienced Harris Sohail ?

Sohail's SR is almost similar to Imam and he has been in team for long. He is the worst fielder in the team. He scored two tons against Australia on a flat UAE wicket recently and Pakistan ended up losing both games .

Yesterday in 2nd ODI, when Pakistan was well placed to achieve the big total, thanks to Fakhar's great inning, Sohail killed the tempo and ended up throwing his wicket when found himself under pressure to raise the SR.

His should also be not an "automatic choice ".

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Haris scores soft impact-less runs. He also only has 1 gear he bats in and can't hit spinners. Watching him trying to hit a leg spinner pitching on leg stump through the off side was hilarious. I will take Hafeez over him any day.

Stop comparing the two.

Imam ul Haq bats like Shehzad/Azhar Ali.

Haris is a complete batsman with all the shots and a proven ability to play at a fast strike rate.

Questions still remain. How many matches did he won for the team?0 I'm talking about Harris Sohail. A complete batsmen carry innings on his own and finish the match.

Haris just scored two ODI hundreds in the Aus series including a mammoth 134 when we were chasing 300+.

Imam cannot claim the same - esp against top opposition.

Imam gives us negative starts every game. He was playing last ODI on a Day 5th WACA pitch.

His average and SR against top teams reflects his limited ability. Not a modern day cricketer.

And we lost both games, he could not pace his inning.

You can't be serious.
Harris is a complete batsman..
He would have done better than imam if he had come in power play

Imam is undroppable and a automatic selection, whilst Harris gets a couple of games and then he gets dropped for Malik or Hafeez.
Inzi and co have to make sure Imam Holds onto the 2nd openers spot for the world cup, Abid Ali will be carrying drinks for the England series.

Haris got caught near the boundary going for a big shot even tho his big hitting is weak, Imam got out tapping the ball back to the bowler. One showed intent whilst the other was just trying to knock it around

Haris is a top order batsman, not a middle order one. He has to bat in the top 3. I think him and Imam should be competing for one spot. Which is why I think Abid will be on the plane home after this series.

Haris will easily be replaced if he continue like that, Imam can do whatever he wants, no consequences:)

Haris was one-off.

If he continues to play like that while chasing 300 plus scores, he will be replaced.

Harris & Hafeez are probably going to end up competing for one spot in the side unless Harris can impress in the remaining opportunities he gets.

He did score at a good pace in the T20 game.

Because one of the two is a parchee who gets to play all matches, while other is a naturally talented classy player who has to sit most of his time on the bench, to accommodate him and others like him.

Didn't Haris just recently showed that he has a power game and the ability to up the ante, in the T20I game against England. Imam can't do that to save his life.

Haris will only increase his strike rate from now on and try to lift his team without caring for his average, and Imam will ensure he remains an automatic selection regardless of the result of the match.

Imam's a polarizing figure but the problem with him is that the pitches are flat and what's happening now is that Babar's playing time has shrinked a lot.

We all talk about how Babar hasn't scored any centuries recently, and a prime reason for that is that Imam and him are so similar and Imam bats in the duration where Babar has excelled. Babar's t20 record is a testament to the fact that he can take the new ball on.

Imam may have the average and all but we have a batsman who can do better what he's doing and it's definitely worth a try opening with Baba and slotting Haris at 3. Babar also adds to the left right combination that is pretty ideal in most games.

He's an okay to sorta good player but he needs to improve a lot to be a regular fixture in the team. Spend a year trying to hit boundaries without needlessly leaving the crease etc. We are already losing, no harm in trying to give Babar a chance at one and see what he can do.

Because has Haris has a SR of 80+ against the top 5 (SENAI) whereas Imam's is just 71. That's a significant difference.

Haris' SR is very similar to Babar's, so by this logic we should also put the latter in the same boat.

Haris is not as limited as Imam. Have seen him playing at good SR in domestics, especially T20s

This. Also, Imam doesn't even try to up his SR. He seems entitled and gives off the impression that everyone should bat around him and bat at a higher strike rate to make up for his short comings.

Calling out harry is wrong he is second best we have got .he plays best at no 3 he came in when he had to go from start .but considering pak lineup we will often not be in this situation people behaving like we will be in similar situation in every match this is pakistan batting lineup if fakhar goes we are in trouble. And players like hafeez, malik can't get us out from this situation. So haris is must.

Haris Sohail deserves criticism for getting starts and getting out. He doesn't have the same strike rate issues as Imam.

5 years back may be 1 at most 2. But still both of them are not complete batsmen. Miandad and and upto certain extend Inzi was could fall into complete batsmen category.

So basically you want 6 ATG bats in the lineup?
