Rizwan is the brighter prospect in LOI, judged to be a better talent (has played over Asad in previous ODIs, and was part of the last few ODI squads).

Asad plays at four because he is thought to be incapable of batting down the order as people/management are afraid he can not score quickly enough?

I feel it's unfair that Asad's faults are the reason he's getting a better batting position to prove himself than Rizwan. Which is stupid. I'm not even a big fan of Rizwan.

Asad could always bat down at 7, to support the main batsman or rebuild if we are doing badly.

Real question is why is Asad even in this side. Umar should be batting at 4 and Rizwan at 6 for now

Team composition. Shafiq is a liability but he will be a bigger liability if bats down the order. Rizwan on the other hand can potentially score quickly, and thus is more suited to the lower-order.

It is not unfair and it is not injustice to Rizwan.

Asad has to be in the side. Not questioning why he is playing, we don't have enough batsmen to choose from with Sarfraz and Azhar out. Shouldn't be in the squad yes, but we have to make what we are given. Tbh I feel Asad was picked in the squad with selectors not even really thinking he would play.

Rizwan isnt any better. He is played up to be better against pace but really poor here.

Yes, I thought it was just Waqar that was dumb in this regard. But it appears that Micky is too.

No he doesn't have to be in the side. Nawaz would be more useful than him.

Being a liability up the order is more detrimental, more impact on momentum.

Rizwan could bat at 6, Asad at 7. At 7 Asad is unlikely to get many overs to bat or used at all (if we don't have many overs, imad could be sent in front of him too). Shafiq can potentially score quickly, he just needs to go out and slog. Any batsman can do that, even tailenders. He will probably get out quickly doing that of course, but then he hasn't exactly slowed down the innings much. If we are in trouble, then yeah asad can just play his natural game at 7 and get the team to a decent total/finish the 50 overs.

I don't think Rizwan is a good batsman at all, but as I said, putting the failing player in front of him who is not long term part of plans, slow batting, gets out cheaply etc. makes no sense. If for example there was only one place available in the team and Sarfraz was keeping, we all know Rizwan would be preferred over Asad as a batsman.

Shafiq shouldn't be in the team.

That said the batting order and line-up are wrong.

both of them should not be in team. We can't go so many clowns in one team

Is Nawaz better than them as a pure batsman? Not sure. He isn't really needed with the ball. In general I feel Pakistan should move towards playing 7 batsman and an allrounder who can bowl 10 overs at 8. Makes for a stronger team. So Nawaz would only ever be a temporary investment if he played.

You know I dislike Asad a lot in ODI's. However when you compare him to Rizwan he is Bradman.

not fair on rizwan. he wasnflt deemd good enough for the last 6 overs so they sent imad in yet he is played at number 7? make sense of that.

It's hard to be any worse than Asad. And he bowls too which could be handy.
