Difficult to understand why someone who has been brought in to help out Pakistan cricket is facing such opposition from elements of the media and now from the BoG?

Is there an element of jealousy or simple petty politics on display?

All of the above. Firstly we all know there is a streak of discrimination within sectors in Pakistan. They are jealous that a overseas pakistani has been brought in. But I believe the largest factor is that they are afraid their power will now be curtailed, their benefits, their corruption, their reserved seats on the gravy train.

Inshallah I'm hoping the Bog gets destroyed because of this..

This reaction from media and BoG shows that Wasim Khan is a competent man and he will do wonders for Pakistan cricket.
Let's hope and pray for Wasim Khan to be remain MD of this corrupt institution for the sack of betterment of Pakustan cricket.

It’s an old boys (or replace that with dinosaurs or crocodiles if you prefer) club and they simply do not accept people from outside to come in and actually be in a position of authority, no matter how competent or qualified for the job.

People want to hang on to their jobs.

Because these people did lots of corruption in the past, fear to be exposed and put into jail.
IK should as for investigation of these people by taking the help from higher authority, expose them on public and put them in jail to rot there.

Same reasons why the Sharif's, Zardari's and Bhutto's feel about IK becoming PM. And end to the gravy train which existed for 3-4 decades

Putting people in jail in Pakistan is hard. This is a country where you can get away with anything.

and then wonder why things are changing for the better.

back in 1980 you would have thought by 2020 Pakistan will be a force to reckon with in the World.

There's only one gravy train that's been running for 40 years, and that is the only gravy train that will run and the faces will keep changing. IK was brought in to ensure that gravy train keeps running

Someone from outsode the mafia has been brought in.

Valid point.

And someone has been brought in from outside Pakistan who they see as a threat.

Backward mentality in full flow.

Is there a way PP users can sign a petition and we can send it to IK?

I think a couple of people were let go in the last week, so some 4-6(?) months later after his appointment people suddenly became opposed to his appointment.

Good point.

A few more worried that their freeloading days are maybe over soon.

He has taken this role I believe because he strives to be the best in his field. He has not gone to Pakistan for any sort of power play or even for the salary as he has been hugely successful in the UK. One has to accept that he is there on merit.

I have no doubt in my mind that he is being targeted simply because he wants to professionalise the PCB and bring the structure up to world level and this is making the BoG rather insecure. The BoG must also want Pakistan’s best interest at heart but this is coupled with their own benefit and therein lies the difference.

How this plays out, I do not know but Wasim has a great family around him and I’m sure of one certainty, you will only see dignified responses from him amongst the circus.

Wasim Khan needs backing and its good that Ehsan Mani is going after the likes of Nauman Butt now.

He is living in Pakistan. His family are living in Pakistan.

If he was in it just for the money he'd have kept his house here, left his family in UK and just got a nice little flat paid for by PCB.

Sadly some just can't take someone from outside Pakistan going in there and looking to change things.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani is expected to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday to discuss the next season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the renovation of the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The meeting, to be held in Islamabad, had been scheduled two weeks ago. It is understood, the PCB stated, the discussion has nothing to do with the current revolt by PCB governing board members against Wasim Khan's appointment as its Managing Director, The Express Tribune reported.

International Cricket Council (ICC) is not in favour of any government interference. To solve the matter, PCB can either fasten the process of changing its constitution through which governing board members will not have any powers or convince the Board of Governors to bring in changes in domestic structure, leading to change their stance on Wasim's appointment.

Wasim will continue his work since Mani did not accept the resolution passed by governing board members. Moreover, board officials stated the Board of Governors were informed about the appointment of Wasim during the December 18 meeting.

This is what he is up against

A protest was held outside the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headquarters in Lahore, calling for removal of Managing Director Wasim Khan.

According to details, protestors from the Cricketers Welfare Association believe that the Khan’s massive salary makes no sense, which is why he should be removed from his post.

They also appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take notice of this issue and remove all such people with excessive salaries.

The protestors were also against the recently proposed changes to country’s domestic structure and insisted that the regions should be banned.

It must be noted that the majority of PCB Board of Governors (BoG) also cited similar concerns, during the 53rd meeting of BoG in Quetta, which is why a resolution was passed to address their grievances.

The members who showed their dissent included Shahraiz Rokri(Lahore), Noman Butt(Sialkot), Shah Dost (Quetta), Kabir Khan (FATA) and Ayaz Butt (KRL).

The resolution declared the appointment of MD PCB Wasim Khan as ‘null and void’.

“The creation of unconstitutional post of MD PCB is hereby declared null and void,” the resolution stated.

Regarding the proposed domestic structure, the resolution read: “Any move to abolish departments and regions in the restructuring of domestic cricket structure is hereby rejected and unacceptable.”

It also stated that a four-member committee should be formed to evaluate and give recommendations, before any changes are made to the current domestic structure.

The usual media suspects are carrying out a campaign against Wasim Khan again, just before the committee meet-up on 2nd Aug.

Many social media users have matured and gone beyond this nonsense, but I'm sure that this message resonates for many watching TV channels.

When these vultures are circling, you know something right is being done.
