Why isn't Pakistan part of any bilateral Test trophy?

For a number of years now perpetual trophies have been part of test cricket but more recently they have become a mainstay. And understandably so, they help put a face on cricketing rivalries and make them more personal and official. These are ones that are currently contested for by the test playing nations:

- The Ashes (England vs Australia)
- Anthony De Mello Trophy (India vs England)
- Pataudi Trophy (India vs England)
- Frank Worrell Trophy (West Indies vs Australia)
- Wisden Trophy (West Indies vs England)
- Trans-Tasman Trophy (New Zealand vs Australia)
- Border–Gavaskar Trophy (India vs Australia)
- Southern Cross Trophy (Australia vs Zimbabwe)
- Sir Vivian Richards Trophy (West Indies vs South Africa)
- Clive Lloyd Trophy (West Indies vs Zimbabwe)
- Basil D'Oliveira Trophy (South Africa vs England)
- Warne–Muralidaran Trophy (Sri Lanka vs Australia)
- Freedom Trophy (South Africa vs India)
- Sobers–Tissera Trophy (West Indies vs Sri Lanka)
- Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy (India vs Bangladesh)

With even Bangladesh being part of a perpetual trophy now, it surprises me why Pakistan isn't part of any. And the fact that we play in UAE isn't a good enough reason because a number of these trophies have been contested for since the 90's and the early 2000's when Pakistan was a significant cricketing heavyweight. I dunno, but the sound of a McGrath-Akram Trophy, a Hutton-Kardar trophy or even a Cronje-Malik trophy (kidding about that one) just sounds more interesting and would make the rivalry between Pakistan and another country more interesting. Any reason why anyone would reckon Pakistan is not part of this?

Also, just food for thought but in a perfect world I'd like the perpetual trophies including Pakistan to be called as these:

Kardar Trophy, Hutton Trophy/Barrington Trophy (Pakistan vs England)
McGrath-Akram Trophy (Pakistan vs Australia)
Subcontinent Trophy (Pakistan vs India)
Richards-Miandad Trophy (Pakistan vs West Indies)
Donald-Younis Trophy (Pakistan vs South Africa)
Khan-Sangakkara Trophy (Pakistan vs Sri Lanka)
Khan-Hadlee Trophy (Pakistan vs New Zealand)
Flower-Inzamam Trophy (Pakistan vs Zimbabwe)

In the future, I expect the Pakistan - Bangladesh rivalry to develop into a serious neck to neck rivalry.

Some suggestions,

Razzaq - Mashud ODI Trophy
Afridi - Shakib ODI Trophy
Amir - Mustafizur Trophy
Misbah - Mortaza Trophy

India v Pakistan is called as Imran-Kapil Trophy

I would suggest calling ODIs as Tendulkar-Akram trophy after highest ODI run getter & ODI wicket taker

I am surprised actually, that you are surprised in it. Bi - lateral series is about playing cricket, and PAK is good at it. What you are talking about is a Marketing strategy - a sort of Brand building, fan engagement & loyalty program in terms of a long term association ..... it's a business concept of selling entertainment, which is not an essential commodity like food, medicine or education. And, you ask that from PCB & it's Marketing people who can't sell domestic cricket to a 200m cricket fanatic population - needed to serve Afridi's ego for half a decade to fill their coffers!!!!

What brand they are selling about PAK Cricket, you can get a glimpse of that from the Sharjeel-Latif tribunal .............

PS - no need to take a dig at BCB here - if same people in charge of respective boards, could have exchanged their alliance, by now, PAK would have been among top 1/2 sides in world & Bangladesh below Kenya.

Peace//

you ever have a day on pp without criticizing PCB i have no idea why so much hate PCB get in this forum

ironically if any other board suffer from what this board is suffering it would have been vanished very quickly

India vs Pak - Sachin Farhat trophy
Australia vs Pak - Ponting Faisal Iqbal trophy
NZ vs Pak - Hadlee Umar Akmal trophy
WI vs Pak - Lara Sami trophy

SL vs Pak - sangakarra ejaz Butt trophy
SAF vs Pak - Kallis Sethi trophy

Pakistan v England - Abdul Kardar Trophy
Pakistan v India - Kapil - Imran Trophy
Pakistan v Australia - Waugh-Akram Trophy
Pakistan v New Zealand - Martin Crowe Trophy ( I would name him it after Martin Crowe as Pakistanis had great respect for his batting and leadership)
Pakistan v Sri Lanka - Jayasuriya - Anwar Trophy
Pakistan v South Africa - Donald - Waqar Trophy (Steyn- Hafeez for a laugh lol)

Pak vs WI should be Tanvir Sobers trophy.

Ashwin Afridi Trophy
Harbhajan Afridi Trophy
Kumble Afridi Trophy
Nehra Afridi Trophy:harby

Given that BCCI and PCB spend more time battling off-field than actually playing cricket, shouldn't Ind-Pak encounters be called something like Dalmiya-Shehryar Khan Trophy or Srinivasn-Butt Trophy?

If the series ever happened, it should be named as MOU trophy.

What about trophies named after "legendary" commentators. Like Shastri- Athar Ali Khan Trophy.

Seriously?

Seriously?

To be honest, I just felt the India-Pakistan rivalry deserved a more unique name since it was basically the Asian Ashes when test cricket was at it's peak in both countries. Could use a better name than this one but it's not like the PCB and BCCI are gonna see this post.

Like I've said before, our people (the ones in power) lack creativity and ingenuity. They haven't been able to pitch an idea of a trophy to any of the other boards, heck they most likely haven't even thought about it.

Took a long time but I'm glad we are playing atleast one. And a great way to play tribute to two legends aswell.
