Will Indian and Pakistani expatriates stop shaking hands as a result of what is happening in cricket?

The recent "no-handshake" policy by Indian cricket teams during matches against Pakistan has sparked a global conversation. This gesture, far from being a simple breach of sportsmanship, is a direct reflection of heightened political tensions and has people wondering if this divide will extend to the personal interactions of the millions of Indian and Pakistani expatriates worldwide.

Expats in the US, UK, or UAE: Will this make your next Indo-Pak meet awkward? Skip the handshakes at parties, too?

Is it just temporary heat, or are we seeing a deeper divide? Let’s talk about what this means for friendships, workplaces, and communities abroad.

The recent events don't have any bearings on what I will do. We shouldn't look to cricketers as role models and try to emulate their behavior.

I'll remain consistent. My stances don't chance with the wind like the Indians.

I didn't shake Indian hands before and will continue to not shake them.

I don't really socialise with Indians outside of sports but this is a mixed environment where goray are also involved and everyone shakes hands at the end of a game. No one really gets a chance to talk politics during the game and I don't hang around with these guys outside of the event. They aren't really friends, more associates, and I get on with them fine in that environment.

My policy is simple - if I am treated with respect and politeness then I will reciprocate.

However, if someone shows me attitude or makes inappropriate political remarks then I will return the favor twofold…

Simple stuff... same here... I have not met any indian so far so my reaction is still unkown LOL...

So far in my life Indians I’ve met have been decent to good people. Neighbor growing up for a while were Gujrati and close family friends. Very kind people.

Only one bad experience ever but Indian in question had bad character with everyone not just toward Pakistanis.

All this nonsense is just for cameras and to show jingoistic nationalism to please fans and audiences.

No camera following non celebs around to feel ashamed to shake hands with “mortal enemies”.

saw multiple video of Ind Pak fans getting well along with each other

People dont carry dirty politics in hearts like gov

Yeah no more handshakes from my end as we are still in the middle of Operation Sindoor. For example, if I see brother @DeadlyVenom walking across the street, I will act like SKY and put my hands inside my pocket.

:kp

I work with an Indian at my firm, and fortunately, he is a good guy, so I have no problem shaking his hand.
