Will Khalistan ever get its independence?

One myth that's being busted though, is that Pakistan and ISI have been supporting the Khalistan movement. Looks more like the Khalistan movement is being supported by Sikhs overseas

its always been supported by the oversees sikhs mainly by the sikh community in canada

Sikhs (Jatts) overseas believe that they came from outside and have nothing to do with rest of India. Racism plays a big role in their thinking. When a group of similar minded people with extremist views gather at one place, it leads to separatist views. It becomes us vs them.

Most of these Khalistani dudes are in Brampton and California. The liberal strongholds where the politicians tend to support them. Meanwhile the Sikhs in India distance themselves from the Khalistan types.

Khalistan will never happen. Overseas Jatt Sikhs are in Lalaland.

Pakistan did support the Khalistan movement back in the 70's and early 80s. It was in retaliation to India supporting the Mukti Bahini in 1970/71. I don't think Pakistan supports it now simply because the movement itself has been long dead since Operation Bluestar.

Clearly not dead with overseas Sikhs. Every year there are a few very visible protests in Toronto

I doubt it will ever happen. There is little appetite for it in India from what I understand.

There are only about 30 million Sikh's in the world. Even if half of the Sikh population want Khalistan.....that they don't then 15 million are not enough to form a country. These t shirts with Bhindrawale's picture and rifles drawn on them is no way near enough to even make the Indian government or military blink.

The Indian military is over represented by the Sikh's who have no interest in this cause. Why don't these Khalistan lovers living in the west go and fight for their dream country from Indian Punjab instead of Birmingham, UK or Toronto, Canada?. No Sikh celebrity support Khalistan at all....no Sunny Deol, Navjot Singh Sidhu or Harbhajan Singh cares about this movement.

The Pak supporters of Khalistan are ignorant to the fact that if established the Sikh's will then start causing trouble for Pakistan.

Only the numerical inferiority of Sikhs vis a vis Hindus and Muslims in the Punjab of 1947 prevented them from going ahead with their aspirations of carving out a separate state for themselves. Being only 12% of the population, they had no other option but to throw in their lot with either the Isalmic republic of Pakistan or the secular (ostensibly) republic of Hindustan. Anandpur sahab resolution and the events leading up to 1984 represented the simmering discontent that found it's expression here and there in the form of occasional outbursting of Sikh youth in the form of domestic terrorism.

Fast forward to post 2014 Modi era and the seemingly dead issue of Khalistan has started to rear it's ugly head again. There is a serious messed up situation in Punjab at the moment which is threatening to blow itself over again.
Interesting times ahead I would say. This could have unnerved me say a couple of years ago but now that I no longer suffer from the disease that jingoism is , I guess it finally feels good not to give a crap about such things.

New Delhi: India today condemned the vandalisation of a park sign at a park in Canada named after the Bhagavad Gita. Calling it a "hate crime", the Indian High Commission in Canada demanded a probe into the matter.

"We condemn the hate crime at the Shri Bhagvad Gita Park in Brampton. We urge Canadian authorities and Peel Police to investigate and take prompt action on the perpetrators," the High Commission of India in Ottawa said in a tweet.

The park – previously called Troyers Park – was renamed as Shri Bhagavad Gita Park and unveiled on September 28.

Earlier today, the news was confirmed by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown. Condemning the incident, Mr Brown said, "We have zero tolerance for this."

The event comes just 10 days after India issued an advisory for Indian nationals and students in Canada to remain vigilant as there was a "sharp increase in hate crimes and anti-India activities."

The Foreign Ministry said it has taken up incidents of hate crimes, sectarian violence and anti-India activities with Canada and has asked for investigation and action. "The perpetrators of these crimes have not been brought to justice so far in Canada," said a ministry statement.

This year, there have been at least two incidents of attacks on Hindu temples in the country. On September 15, a temple was defaced with anti-India graffiti.

As many as 400 to 500 people clashed in the Canadian city of Mississauga Monday evening during the Diwali celebration, police said.

Mississauga-based online news outlet Insauga said the fight took place in the Malton area, a video of which is making rounds on social media.

The video shows police officers trying to separate crowds at a Diwali celebration. "One group can be seen waving Indian flags, while the other held banners supporting the Khalistan referendum movement," according to Insauga.

Peel Regional Police said officers received reports of a fight in the area of Goreway and Etude drives on Monday night. Police said they received reports of hundreds of people fighting in a local parking lot.

remaining in the area as things have calmed down - C/R 9:41pm - 22-0357908," Peel Regional Police said in a tweet.

Police officers told Global News that fireworks were set off in a mall parking lot. However, Peel police were not sure if this led to the altercation. No arrests have been made, the Canadian publication added.

Not too long ago, India asked Canada to stop the so-called "Khalistan Referendums" by the anti-India elements on November 6 in Ontario. The Centre has asked the Canadian government to act against those who promote terror and violence against the largest democracy in the world.

:))) What baffles me is that why don't they demand Khalistan in Canada? Sikhs here in India mostly are happy being a part of India.

Sikhs who support Khalistan that does anti hindu activities overseas are a confused lot.

The genocide of Sikhs after the death of the pseudo secular Nehru's daughter Indira was conducted by Congress, there was no BJP or hindutva involved.

Even if Khalistan in theory is formed they have no sea routes, they will be sandwiched between India and Pakistan, Sikhs should as part of Khalistan ask for Lahore also as their Guru's were born there. If Khalistan is formed they will be living under the mercy of India and Pakistan.

Pakistani's wasted so many man hours and money trying to get the Khalistan movement going, only for it to go down the drain like majority of other results Pakistan has achieved since independence.

Go Sikh Khalistanis, may the confusion force be with you...!!!!!!!!! LOL

It makes no difference that the Sikh Guru's were born in Pak when our Punjab is all Muslim now. They will never even get an inch of Lahore never mind the rest of our Punjab , forget it.

If Pak has wasted time over Khalistan movement then so has India in Baluchistan and even KPK too as they will always be a part of Pakistan. Pak encourages the Sikh's to repay India for RAW''s involvement in our regions not necessarily because we love the Sikh's.

Not every Sikh wants Khalistan neither does every Sikh not want it. Those who do need to operate from India like Jinnah saheb did the Pakistan movement not Canada or the UK. Sikh's need to understand the headquarters of the Khalistan movement needs to be a political one based in India. It will not be created by illiterate villagers like Bhindranwale carrying Kalashnikov's.

Over 75,000 Canadian Sikhs vote in Khalistan Referendum despite fierce opposition
Khalistan Referendum voting draws counter-protest by handful of Canadian Hindus who carried Hindutva symbols

TORONTO/LONDON: Despite vocal protests by Narendra Modi’s government and fierce opposition from Canadian Hindutva groups, more than 75,000 Canadian Sikhs voted in Khalistan Referendum Phase II in Mississauga in a massive turnout for the secession of the state of Punjab from India to create an independent homeland for Sikhs.

The voting opened at 9am under the supervision of the Punjab Referendum Commission (PRC), but the Sikh men and women from Greater Toronto Area (GTA) had lined up since 6am to cast their votes at the Paul Coffee Arena, Mississauga, a Canadian Government owned and operated facility.

The November 6 Khalistan Referendum voting drew a counter-protest by a handful of Canadian Hindus who carried Hindutva symbols and were sloganeering that they will make India a “Hindu Country” under Modi’s leadership.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) General Counsel stated that “today Canadian democracy won and Modi’s fascism lost because Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Government stood with the Sikhs’ right to freedom of expression in the face of immense pressure from all Indian quarters”.

The New York based lawyer said: “After 110,000 votes on September 18 voting, 75,000 plus Canadian Sikhs once again proved their resolve to liberate Punjab from Indian occupation to create Khalistan in line with aspirations of thousands of Sikh martyrs who have laid down their lives for the cause.”

The second phase of the Khalistan Referendum was announced by SFJ after over 110,000 Canadian Sikhs participated in the first phase of the Khalistan Referendum on September 18, 2022, and several thousand were unable to cast their votes due to a huge turnout and closure of the voting process at 5pm.

The Khalistan advocacy group Sikhs for Justice, which is spearheading the Khalistan Referendum campaign aimed at garnering support at the international level for the separation of Punjab from India and declaring it a separate homeland for Sikhs, had started preparations for the second phase of the referendum soon after the September 18 voting.

In the wake of the September 18 voting, India and Canada have been at war. The government of Justin Trudeau issued the travel advisory exactly four days after India issued an aggressive advisory on September 23 for its students either living in Canada or planning to travel to Canada, telling them that Canada had become a hub of Khalistan supporters and anti-India activities.

In an unprecedented move, Canada advised its citizens to avoid all travel to areas in the states of Gujarat, Punjab and Rajasthan, which share a border with Pakistan due to the “presence of landmines” and “unpredictable security situation”.

India’s External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India had raised with Canada serious concerns on the Khalistan Referendum voting on September 18 in Brampton.

India’s External Affairs Ministry termed the Khalistan Referendum conducted by the SFJ as a “farcical exercise” and added that India had deeply objected that “politically motivated exercises by extremist elements” are allowed to take place in a friendly country like Canada.

India became agitated after Canada told India that any peaceful and legitimate activity by Canadian Sikhs will not be stopped and the Canadian government will not get involved.

They are more than welcome to create a Khalistan in Canada. Unfortunately for them, Sikhs in India are patriotic towards their country.

Such a shame that Pakistanis want the Sikhs in India to rebel against India like East Pakistanis did against West Pakistan :))

Who knows, Pakistan may actually carve out some portion of Pakistani Punjab including parts Lahore serving as capital to give boost to their demands

That's just projection. Over 90% of Pakistanis probably don't even know what Khalistan is.

Tells us a lot about how much credibility your analyses have. Should've added Karachi to that list as well while you're at it.

Dont think Sikhs will look for Karachi as well unless Pakistan decides to include that in the package.

On a serious note these are all political gimmicks from the players and this topic of Khalistan is a non issue. Indian Punjab has much bigger problem to solve in terms of agriculture, jobs and drugs and the 2 cr Sikhs who actually reside in India are fiercely patriotic regardless of aspirations from the regional establishments or political groups in far off country.

How about you guys address those issues instead of creating imaginably land packages. Almost no one in Pakistan talks or cares about Khalistan, the only major India-related thing we talk about is India's discrimination and attacks against Kashmiris.

75k is a good number but not a great number considering their massive population in Canada. The 75K voting is understandable, considering the immigration policy of Canada in last 7 years(score based), Indians from other parts except Punjab will soon outnumber them by a bigger ratio than until 2012.

Don't take it to heart. It's a pun given how these topics find interest in this forum. And I believe you when you say almost no one in Pakistan has time for such nonsense as surely they have other priorities in terms of day to day life. I see this is more of a feel good topic for select Pakistani expats .

Most people just assume every Sikh is Indian and that wouldn't change even if Khalistan existed.

I see this is more of a feel good topic for select Pakistani expats .

Expats are even less likely to care than locals.

What has 75k Canadian Sikhs voting on a referendum to create Khalistan got to do with India? Is Trudeau government trying to create a Khalistan country in Canada? This is not making any sense to me :dw

Why doesn’t india just do a referendum in Punjab lol and **** everyone up.

I’m sure in a Punjab referendum, >80% will choose india anyway

Why doesn’t india just do a referendum in Punjab lol and **** everyone up.

A pre requisite to referendum is a mass demand for such a change. Referendums are not conducted based on individual whims and fantasies. Had that been the case, then there are enough nuts around the globe to force a referendum in every goddamn country.

Absolutely fine though if 10-20% of Canadian Sikhs want to conduct a referendum based on their wishlist if the government of the day and law of the land wants to facilitate them. The rest 80% will simply go on with their life .

Why doesn’t india just do a referendum in Punjab lol and **** everyone up.

I’m sure in a Punjab referendum, >80% will choose india anyway

if they have a referendum in Punjab then people in Kashmir will also want one. And in that referendum India will lose by a landslide.

I see plenty of Sikh's supporting India during Cricket matches. First the Sikh's need to decide themselves if the majority want Khalistan or not.

This is not a reality given the current day geopolitics. Voices of boots on the ground (Sikhs in India) matter more than the so called protests by expats who do not get their hands dirty in any way. The Sikh communities in India have abandoned this demand (maybe except for minuscule fringe voices but even the existence of fringe voices may not be true these days). Plus the numbers advocating for Khalistan is also miniscule. Khalistan as a country is as unrealistic as Baluchistan as a country.

I see plenty of Sikh's supporting India during Cricket matches. First the Sikh's need to decide themselves if the majority want Khalistan or not.

Problem is currently 10% of the world’s Sikhs live outside india and probably 70% of them want Khalistan. Whereas for the 90% living in india it’s probably flipped.

Why doesn’t india just do a referendum in Punjab lol and **** everyone up.

I’m sure in a Punjab referendum, >80% will choose india anyway

Coz its a slippery slope for any country to do so also there is no guarantee it will be the end of the matter.

Problem is currently 10% of the world’s Sikhs live outside india and probably 70% of them want Khalistan. Whereas for the 90% living in india it’s probably flipped.

Then those 70% percent living abroad who want Khalistan come to India and fight for it. They are never gonna get it living in London or Toronto.

Khalistani Terrorist Named In Punjab Rocket Attack Dead In Pak: Report

Chandigarh:

Khalistani terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda, who was involved in various terror cases, including the RPG attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in May, is learnt to have died in Pakistan, sources in the state police said on Saturday.

Though the cause of his death was not immediately known, the sources said he was admitted to a hospital in Lahore.

Rinda, a member of the banned Khalistani outfit Babbar Khalsa International, had been taking the help of local gangsters to carry out anti-national activities in Punjab and was believed to be in Pakistan.

His name had figured in the rocket propelled grenade (RPG) attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali in May this year. He was also charge sheeted in a case related to seizure of arms and explosives from a vehicle in Haryana in the same month.

The 35-year-old's involvement was also detected in a hand-grenade attack at the crime investigation agency office in Nawanshahr last November.

Rinda was seen as the main link between gangsters and Pakistani-based terror groups and was described as a threat to national security by the investigating agencies as he was involved in large-scale cross-border smuggling of drugs and weapons.

He was a "most-wanted 'A' plus category" gangster in Punjab and also wanted in many cases in Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Haryana and West Bengal, among other places.

Rinda had migrated from Sarhali village in Tarn Taran district in Punjab many years ago to Nanded in Maharashtra, according to police sources.

He entered the world of crime in 2008 when he allegedly killed man due to personal enmity in Tarn Taran. Rinda was also involved in the killing of Satnam Singh, the sarpanch of Hoshiarpur in Chandigarh in a sensational broad day light incident.

A review into the UK government's scheme set up to prevent terrorism has flagged the radicalisation of UK Muslims over Kashmir and "potentially toxic" pro-Khalistan extremism as some of the areas of growing concern and made recommendations for improvements to tackle Islamist extremism as the "primary threat" to the country.

The review into the government's counter-terrorism early intervention 'Prevent' strategy published this week warned that rhetoric from Pakistan is impacting UK Muslim communities when it comes to "inflaming anti-India sentiment, particularly around the subject of Kashmir".

The review carried out by Commissioner for Public Appointments William Shawcross also warns against a false narrative being disseminated by a tiny number of pro-Khalistan groups operating in the UK.

"There is an element of crossover between those who seek to impose limits around blasphemy with those who voice incendiary rhetoric on Kashmir.

"I have seen evidence of UK extremist groups, as well as a Pakistani cleric with a UK following, calling for the use of violence in Kashmir. I have also seen evidence demonstrating that flashpoints related to Kashmir lead to a significant surge in interest from UK Islamists," says Shawcross in the review.

It noted that there is no reason to believe this issue will disappear as a grievance that Islamists will seek to exploit in years to come. "This has potential relevance to Prevent, as there are examples of those convicted of terrorism offences in the UK who had first fought in Kashmir. This includes those who subsequently joined al-Qaeda."

On the issue of pro-Khalistan extremism, the report adds, "Prevent should also be mindful of pro-Khalistan extremism emerging from the UK's Sikh communities. A false narrative is disseminated by the tiny number of pro-Khalistan groups operating in the UK that the government is colluding with its counterpart in India to persecute Sikhs."

"Such groups' narratives glorify violence carried out by the pro-Khalistan movement in India. While the current threat is low, praise for violence overseas and a simultaneous belief in a state-led campaign of repression domestically is a potentially toxic combination for the future."

It comes as the review found that Islamist extremism represents the "primary terrorist threat" to the UK -- "consistently accounting for the majority of terrorist attack plots both carried out and thwarted by the intelligence services".

It noted that at present, 80 per cent of the Counter-Terrorism Police network's live investigations are Islamist while 10 per cent are Extreme Right-Wing.

UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman told the House of Commons on Wednesday that she intends to "swiftly implement" all of the recommendations from the review into the Prevent strategy, a UK-wide system set up as an early warning system against terrorist threats.

The review is unflinching. Prevent needs major reform. It needs to better understand the threats that we face and the ideology underpinning them, the Indian-origin minister told MPs.

"The truth is that there is nothing anti-Muslim about tackling Islamism, and we must continue to work closely with Muslim communities if we are to do so effectively," she said.

"While obscuring the Islamist threat, Prevent has defined the extreme right-wing too broadly, encompassing the respectable right and centre-right. The threat from the extreme right-wing must not be minimised. It is serious and it is growing; it must be robustly addressed. But it is not the same, either in nature or in scale, as the threat from Islamism," Braverman added.

This is a genuine question is the movement on the rise again or not is their a possibility they will became a nation will our Sikh brothers ever get their own nation I for one will welcome Khalistan with open arms

There is a better chance for Oppresed baloch people to get a seperate nation than NRI misguided sikhs getting Khalistan.

Why doesn’t india just do a referendum in Punjab lol and **** everyone up.

I’m sure in a Punjab referendum, >80% will choose india anyway

The every Tom, harrry and diick will want a referendum and i am sure even pakistan can do one in Balochistan or some other provinces ;-p

On a side note, given how most of punjab is based on agriculture and they love subsidized farming and gave so much effort to keep that system in farmers protest that they even consider anything that changes this god-given boon to most of punjabi farmers.

Khalistan can only happen with another so called partition like scenario where lines are being redrawn. It can never come in to creation without another Pak-Bharat war. All this self belief the Sikh's have of being so brave was exposed when Tara Singh chickened out from Quaid Jinnah's offer during independence. That time the Sikh-Hindu brotherhood was as close as a nail is to the skin until 1984 when this brotherhood was thrown out the window.

Then in 1984 the Sikh superman or terrorist Bhindrawala challenged Indira Gandhi to send as many soldiers as possible and he would still reach Delhi. He couldn't even leave the compounds of his temple when the Indian military taught him as well as the entire Sikh community a proper lesson by murdering him. So much so that Bhindarwala's son's don't even want to be associated with him.

Countries are not formed by illiterates like Bhindrawala rather super intelligent men like Quaid Jinnah. The humiliation of 1984 is deeply ingrained in the Sikh conscience. Thing is that even if half the Sikh population want independence it is very few in numbers to make a decisive difference.

Too all Pak people here ask your elders and they will tell you the Sikh's never wanted Pakistan to come in to existence. Deep down most Sikh's are still enemies of our country because we took their holiest shrines after independence. For these reason I will never support them at all. Now some separatist called Amrit Pal Singh is their new hero who India says is an agent of the ISI. All this Sikh bravado only looks good in Bollywood films produced by Hindu's to keep them nice and sweet. As Quaid Jinnah said "Sikh's are politically naive". I urge Pakistanis here to stop their support for the enemies of our country.

The Indian army ransacked their holiest place once and if necessary will do so again. Sikh's will do well to remember that in a country of some 1 billion Hindu's they'll be gobbled up like a samosa.

There is a better chance for Oppresed baloch people to get a seperate nation than NRI misguided sikhs getting Khalistan.

No that is not true The Baloch diaspora is much weaker then the Sikh one. If anyone gets freedom it will be the Sikh's from Indian terrorism. There are no more then 7 million Baloch people in the world.

Massive Punjab Op To Catch Khalistani Leader Amritpal Singh, Last Seen Fleeing On Bike
Internet has been snapped across Punjab till 12 pm tomorrow as Amritpal Singh's aides started circulating frantic videos appealing to supporters to reach Shahkot

Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh is on the run from the Punjab Police, who are trying to arrest him, sources have said. At least 78 people have been arrested and some have been detained for questioning, the police said. Daljeet Singh Kalsi, who handles finance for Amritpal Singh, has been arrested in Haryana's Gurgaon by the Punjab Police.
A special team of the state police, comprising personnel from seven districts, had followed the Khalistani leader's convoy while he was on his way to Jalandhar's Shahkot tehsil. Sources said he was last seen speeding away on a motorcycle.

Internet has been snapped across Punjab till 12 pm tomorrow as Amritpal Singh's aides started circulating frantic videos appealing to supporters to reach Shahkot.

Anticipating disturbance, a large contingent of police has been deployed outside Amritpal Singh's village, Jallupur Khaira, in Amritsar district. Sources said police and paramilitary forces have sealed the village.

Sources said the state government waited for the G20 event to get over to initiate action against him.

Amritpal Singh leads "Waris Punjab De", a radical organisation started by actor and activist Deep Sidhu, who died in a road accident in February last year.

The khalistan state that overseas sikhs keep dreaming about not just includes indian states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal n Delhi but also pakistani territory like Lahore, Kartarpur and birthplace of gurunanak. Neither will India cede its land nor Pakistan. So this Khalistan dream will only remain a dream.

For any freedom movement to stay alive it needs ground level support in teh actual region which is Punjab in this case. But there is zero support for Khalistan in Punjab but only in places like Canada and UK. Such movements cannot sustain. Sikhs in fact join Indian army in huge number, represent India in various fields like sports, music, films etc.

They'll turn Pakistan in to a nightclub.

Their turbans mean they have music many decibels above what normal humans tolerate. Love a rave the godly sikhs

Pew did a survey on religions in India and found that 95 % of Indian Sikhs were very happy to identify as Indian and 70 % even said you can't be Sikh if you insult India or something like that lol.

They should identify with India, that is where their faith was born, but I am not sure they will agree that they are just another branch of hinduism which is the idea being pushed in modern day India. If they accept that, then it can only logically lead to the end of the Sikh religion itself. In the same way Buddhism has been sidelined in India rather than seen as the evolution from hinduism it actually represented.

Yes Khalistan will get independence.

:D

They should identify with India, that is where their faith was born, but I am not sure they will agree that they are just another branch of hinduism which is the idea being pushed in modern day India. If they accept that, then it can only logically lead to the end of the Sikh religion itself. In the same way Buddhism has been sidelined in India rather than seen as the evolution from hinduism it actually represented.

If Sikhs in India feel that their identity is being threatened by India, they wouldn't have responded as such?

Sikh don't feel that way. Their patriotism is second to none. A few hundreds agitating based on personal political agenda and influenced by external money and power won't change anything drastically on ground.

Pakistan’s dream of a Sikh nation would never materialise. Khalistan is never going to become an independent state.

Pakistan’s dream of a Sikh nation would never materialise. Khalistan is never going to become an independent state.

It's also not going to play out well for either of them even if hypothetically it comes to exist. Khalistan will ask for Lahore as capital that Pakistan can't accept and Pakistani Punjabi establishment in particular will try to to usurp so called Khalistan leading to mass violence and anarchy.

I think Khalistanis may be among the majority for Canadian Sikhs. Not sure but it feels that way. In India, it's a tiny minority and I don't think they are a majority in other countries either.

As Punjab Cops Search For Khalistani Leader, His 4 Aides Flown To Assam
The radical leader's associates were accompanied by a 27-member team from Punjab Police, including its Inspector General, Prisons.

n a highly unusual development amid the massive co-ordinated action against Khalistani separatist leader Amritpal Singh, four of his top arrested aides have been flown to Dibrugarh in upper Assam by a special aircraft, top police sources said. They will likely to be kept in the Dibrugarh Central Jail.

The Dibrugarh District Collector, and the local Superintendent of Police, received the team with high security at Mohanbari Airport.

Dibrugarh central jail is one of the oldest prisons in northeast India. It is heavily fortified, and was used to keep top militants during the peak of ULFA militancy in Assam.

Even in Canada they are are not more than 20 percent of the 900000 Sikhs. There is another 5-10% of UK Sikh population as well.

Mobile and internet services were suspended in several areas of India’s Punjab on Sunday as the police launched what it called a “manhunt” for prominent Sikh leader Amritpal Singh, Indian media reported.

India media describes him as a “Khalistani leader”.

According to a Scroll.in report, statewide “cordon-and-search operations” were launched against Singh’s organisation Waris Punjab De on Saturday.

“As part of the operations, 78 persons have been arrested and several more have been detained,” it quoted the police as saying.

What choice did they have in India? Their Golden Temple got stormed, their leaders were killed, now they are obviously going to rebuild their identity outside of the nation before it is wiped out and reinvented as another branch of hinduism.

The Indian state of Punjab has launched a massive manhunt for prominent Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh who was last seen in the northern city of Jalandhar.

The search for the Khalistan activist entered its second day in Punjab with widespread crackdown on internet services through shutdowns enforced by the state home department on Sunday.

Mr Singh is the leader of a radical organisation "Waris Punjab De" (Heirs of Punjab) which backs the demand for a separate statehood for Khalistan.

He is leading the group following the death of late actor Deep Sidhu in a road rage incident in February last year and vows to protect the “rights of Punjab and raise social issues” in contradiction of the Indian federal administration.

The Punjab state and police officials have launched a massive search operation to hunt him down after he was last seen speeding away on a motorcycle in Jalandhar, reported Indian news channel NDTV.

Internet services have been suspended till Monday afternoon in the popular northern state to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours on social media, the state officials said.

At least 78 members of his outfit have been arrested and others have been detained for questioning. The police have also arrested four of his top aides in a crackdown and flown to northeastern state Assam by a special aircraft.

Another six to seven gunmen deployed by Mr Singh are also among those arrested by the police, Jalandhar police commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal said.

Shortly after he was spotted, a dramatic chase by a special team of the Punjab police ensued as they followed the activist’s convoy as he was headed to Shahkot in the state, reported NDTV.

Mr Singh managed to escape the Punjab police, the report added.

He is known to follow the teachings and dressing style of Indian militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale who led a major separatist movement in India in the 1980s.

Security arrangements across Punjab and neighbouring states have been ramped up after Mr Singh’s aides shared some visuals on social media, stating that the police have been chasing them.

Several of these leaders seek to establish a consensus among Sikh communities to carve out a separate homeland within India, which will be known as Khalistan. It is generally proposed that this be achieved through carving out the territory from Punjab, the only Sikh-majority state in the country.

The foreign ministry summoned the seniormost diplomat of UK in New Delhi late this evening as the Indian flag was pulled down from the Indian High Commission in London by a section of Sikhs protesting against the police crackdown on Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh. In a sharply worded statement, the ministry demanded an explanation for "absence of security" at the high commission premises and said the UK government's "indifference" to Indian diplomats and personnel was "unacceptable".

A section of Sikhs started protests over the crackdown since evening. Cellphone videos posted on social media showed protesters climbing the building and taking down the Indian flag. In Australia's Brisbane, pro-Khalistan groups carried out what they called a referendum on Khalistan.

"An explanation was demanded for the complete absence of the British security that allowed these elements to enter the High Commission premises. She was reminded in this regard of the basic obligations of the UK Government under the Vienna Convention," the foreign ministry said in its statement.

The ministry also said it finds "unacceptable" the "indifference of the UK Government to the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel".

"It is expected that the UK Government would take immediate steps to identify, arrest and prosecute each one of those involved in today's incident, and put in place stringent measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents," the statement read.

British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis, meanwhile tweeted:

Over the weekend, nearly 80 supporters of Amritpal Singh have been arrested. Amritpal Singh is on the run. The crackdown started after they broke into a police station with swords and guns to ensure release of one of them. Six police officers were injured in the clash.

Since then, 78 supporters of Amritpal Singh were arrested, many of them after a daring car chase. His close aide Daljeet Singh Kalsi, who handles his finances, was arrested this morning from Haryana's Gurgaon.

The Punjab police tweeted details of the crackdown, saying 34 arrests were made today and the situation in the state is peaceful.

A huge Tricolour now adorns the Indian High Commission building in London, shortly after Khalistani supporters pulled down the national flag outside the building to protest the crackdown against Amritpal Singh.

The peaceful protestors are climbing buildings too like Spiderman.

How are UK authorities and law enforcement allowing this? Such lame establishment.

What choice did they have in India? Their Golden Temple got stormed, their leaders were killed, now they are obviously going to rebuild their identity outside of the nation before it is wiped out and reinvented as another branch of hinduism.

It happened in 1980 and terrorists hiding in there were killed.

If they wanted to form a separate country, they should have done it in 1947. They could have gotten part of Punjab from both India and Pakistan. Instead of fighting for their land, they migrated to India as it offered them safe haven. Khalistanis are a bunch of confused people.

I have been hearing on the news, that this movement is slowly starting to come on the rise again, within India

Indian authorities extended a mobile internet blackout across a state of about 30 million people on Monday as police hunted a Sikh preacher.

The blackout extension came as supporters of Amritpal Singh were filmed vandalising India’s consulate in San Francisco, not long after similar disturbances in London.

Authorities in the northern state of Punjab launched a major search on Saturday for Singh, who has risen to prominence in recent months demanding the creation of Khalistan, a separate Sikh homeland.

Police said on Monday they had arrested 114 people so far but Singh’s whereabouts were unknown.

The internet outage, originally in place until noon (0630 GMT) on Monday, was extended for another 24 hours.

Videos posted online, and independently verified by AFP, showed men smashing doors and windows of the Indian Consulate in San Francisco after they broke down barricades set up outside the building.

The phrase #FreeAmritpal had been sprayed on the property as several dozen protesters gathered outside.

An official said the Indian foreign ministry was looking seriously at the clips. India said it had summoned Britain’s top diplomat after Singh’s supporters vandalised the outside of the Indian High Commission in London.

India’s foreign ministry said there was a “complete absence” of British police and “finds unacceptable the indifference of the UK Government to the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel in the UK”.

Videos on social media verified by AFP Fact Check showed a man taking down the Indian flag on a balcony of the consulate, watched by a small group below waving yellow Khalistan flags.

Not sure what purpose it serves to vandalize Indian embassy in Aldwych, London. Kashmiri/Pakistani protestors did the same on 15th August 2019 after article 370 was revoked in India. I was present there and situation went so bad police had to disperse the mob using tear gas. This type of tantrums does nothing but gives bad name to overall brown Asian community.

If these people have a problem with Indian govt., protest in New Delhi and not in London. Most of these Khalistani's living in Southall or Ealing Broadway can perhaps take the next flight to India and demand Khalistan standing infront of Indian Parliament. Amit Shah's police will show them how Khalistan looks like in real world :91:

Be brave lads, aim big and think big. Protesting in UK would never fulfil Khalistan dream. Travel to India and do these protest, so that we all can have bit of a fun.

They very well know what will happen if they do these antics in India. England deals with these morons with a limp wrist. They know they can get away with such things there.

Open borders, free trade and religious tolerance between India and Pakistan are reasonable solutions for Sikhs…but the world belongs to the unreasonable man.

Amid outrage over the vandalism at the Indian High Commission in London by Khalistan supporters, British Conservative MP Bob Blackman on Monday said the vast majority of Sikhs living in the UK “absolutely reject” the Khalistani project. He also asked the police to deal with the separatist elements properly.

“This is a very small, ultra-small section of the Sikh community. The vast majority of Sikhs in this country absolutely reject the Khalistani project... It's not going to happen as we know...My message is very simple to the police, when this happens, those people need to be arrested & dealt with properly,” ANI quoted Blackman as saying.
A group of pro-Khalistan activists protesting against the crackdown on separatist elements in Punjab pulled down India's national flag at its mission in London on Sunday afternoon. Blackman was quick to condemn the incident and called the disrespect to the tricolour "disgraceful."
“Disgraceful vandalism & disrespect to the flag of #India. My sympathies to the staff at the #IndianHighC Commission & @VDoraiswami in particular #JaiHind,” he tweeted.

AUSTRALIA'S VICTORIA POLICE INITIATES ACTION AGAINST KHALISTAN TERRORISTS

Canberra: Australia's Victoria police on Monday released images of Khalistani supporters who indulged in violence on January 29th.

In a statement, the Victoria Police appealed to identify six men following an affray in Melbourne.

"Melbourne East Neighbourhood Policing Team are appealing for public assistance following an affray at Federation Square in late January," read the statement.

The targeted attack took place during the voting for the 'Khalistan independence' referendum, organised by the 'Sikhs for Justice (SFJ)' on January 29 this year.

The men from pro-Khalistani groups attacked Indians carrying the national flag in their hands.

The Indian group was seen running away from the scene while the Khalistani group continued to hit them.

Police were in attendance at a Khalistan Referendum event at Federation Square on January 29 when two fights broke out, one at about 12.45 pm and the other at about 4.30 pm.

During the fight, flag poles were used by several men as weapons which caused physical injuries to multiple victims. Two victims, one with a laceration to their head and another with a hand injury, were treated at the scene by paramedics. Several other victims sustained injuries and required medical treatment.

"Two men were arrested on the day, and police have been making a number of enquiries to identify remaining individuals. Investigators have released images of six men they believe may be able to assist with their enquires," read the statement.

In both incidents, police quickly responded to separate incidents and dispersed the crowd. OC spray was used in the second incident to separate the fighting men.

The Victoria Police in Australia have finally woken up and acted, two months after sword-welding Khalistanis attacked the Indian community at the Federation Square in Melbourne.

During his visit to New Delhi earlier this month, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had said that his country won't tolerate any extreme actions and attacks that took place in religious buildings, and that there is no place for such action against Hindu temples.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Anthony Albanese had discussed disturbances created by pro-Khalistani outfits in Australia and the Australian Prime Minister assured that his government will take all necessary measures to ensure that peace and harmony prevail.

Beginning 2023, Hindu temples in Australia have seen a spurt in vandal attacks by Khalistani elements defacing the walls with anti-India slogans and graffiti.

There has been a rise in attacks by these Khalistani elements in foreign countries off late. These come in the wake of reports that the Pakistani spy agency ISI has been urging and funding such elements to carry out such attacks in a bid to rake up the Khalistan movement in Punjab.

The Indian Intelligence agencies have been warning about a rise in the activities by the ISI backed Khalistan elements.

Just another one of Modi's gifts to India.

A movement that was pretty much dead finding expression again.

China sitting on Indian land.

Kashmiri pandits being executed. Kashmir militancy was on the wane (look at the stats, don't take my word for it if you are a level-1 bhakt).

Muslims being othered to an unprecedented level.

Neighbors turning from friends to hostile.

What exact use has Modi served other than instilling a false sense of importance that is of no practical value among Indian Hindus?

Third-class, uneducated incompetent lying fraud.

"What Were 80,000 Cops Doing?": Court Slams Punjab Over Amritpal Singh
The court's remarks come amid the Punjab Police action against Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh and members of his outfit 'Waris Punjab De'.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court today slammed Punjab police and asked them to submit a status report in their operation against Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh.
"You have 80,000 cops. What were they doing. How did Amritpal Singh escape?," the High Court asked Punjab government. The court remarked that this is an intelligence failure of the state's police.

The court's remarks come amid the Punjab Police action against the Khalistan leader and members of his outfit 'Waris Punjab De'.

The Punjab police told the court that they launched a major crackdown against Amritpal Singh on Saturday, and have managed to arrest 120 of his supporters.

The elusive preacher, however, gave the police a slip and escaped their dragnet when his cavalcade was intercepted in Jalandhar district. Amritpal Singh, who the government describes as a Khalistani-Pakistan agent, was last seen speeding away on a motorcycle on Saturday evening in Jalandhar.

Lol. AAP fannee this movement during farmers protest to catapult themselves to power in Punjab. Same as what Indira did.

Proof of China taking territory under the Modi regime.

Terrorism is nearly dead in Kashmir. Can you post the number of deaths, civilians/Forces/Terrorists.

Which neighbours have become hostile?

Othered? What laws have been passed that are against Indian Muslims? Or the issue is no more privileges?

That is the propaganda bit which is better be ignored. When they have lost every democratic mandate in the country, resorting to lies or distored facts is the only way out. Their clown prince was doing the same recently in Cambridge after 2 seats in UP, 17 in Gujarat and losing all elections in North East.

As far as Kashmir terrorism is concerned, I was watching Amit Shah's interview in India today conclave and he said it beautifully. Back in 1993, Modi and Vajpayee went to Lal Chowk and they had to airlift out from there fearing life. Now in 2023, Pappu Gandhi and his sister was seen playing holi and waving Indian flag in the same lal chowk without any security. That is the difference between then and now.

There has only been 2 democratically elected independenr PMs in India - Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi. Rest all have been either self elected (Jawaharlal Nehru) or non-elected(Indiar/Rajiv Gandhi) or puppets (Narshima Rao/Mannohan).

This change is something they are unable to digest and quiet frankly is quiet amusing to see the burn. Good news is, majority in India is with the right side.
