Yes if Pakistan can get past the group stage but that will be the hardest part. Amir is the golden arm you want in knockout matches. His track record in ICC records (barring WT20 16) is excellent as well.

Any knockout match and Pakistan bats first and scores over 275, then I would put my money on Amir taking 2 to 3 early wickets. He's very dangerous when there is a scoreboard pressure. Not that much if Pakistan bowls first.

Pakistan won a grand total of 3 ICC cups. Amir played a HUGE role in 2 of them. Besides he performed vs India. He got Tendulker out and years later dismissed Virat. No bigger games then that...

Amir has played well in two finals, but he has also failed in many big games. In fact, he failed in the must-win match against South Africa in the 2017 Champions Trophy. Had Pakistan lost, they would have gone home, and Amir went wicket-less in that match.

Was it not a big game? Did performance in that match not matter?

Amir did not win Pakistan the Champions Trophy. Hasan Ali was the standout player followed by Fakhar. Amir wasn't even the biggest contributor in the final because that win was setup by the batsman piling up a big score.

Had Pakistan bowled first and Amir would have rolled them over, it would have been a different story and yes in that situation, he would have won us the final.

This is not about me. I was correcting you that Amir that the notion that "he takes wickets when it matters" is a glorified myth.

Have you forgotten Amir in the WT20 2009 final when he got Dilshan (man out of the tournament) out with a superbly constructed wicket maiden? And when he got Tendulkar out and other wickets later in that year against India in the CT final? Then there's the Asia cup game and last year's final.

Amir is no doubt a big match player.

Amir had back spasms during the CT and even had to sit out during the opening match against India.

His only poor game was against SA in that tournament and sealed the deal with one of the ATG ODI bowling spells.

Granted he has been inconsistent since his comeback due to poor bowling execution, dropped catches, injuries, etc, etc.

But he has always been one to perform when the pressure is on the most and no matter what anyone says, played a HUGE role in both of our ICC trophy wins in the last decade.

And Pakistani bowlers usually turn it on during the WC as they take some time to adjust but they will have visited England four times by the time the WC comes.

Ct final dismissal should be counted twice,
Secondly you also have to count edges that did'nt carry and balls which beat kohli's bat as wickets

In big moments he has produced, again similar to his overall form, just hasn’t taken the world by storm - he isn’t Akram, and it isn’t 90s cricket anymore.

Moment of the summer for me was his two wicket spell at Lords - to Malan and Bairstow.

I would like to see him bowl more wicket to wicket in tests...feel he wastes the early seam, which he can exploit.
