Will Pakistan be the only team in the World Cup with top 3 batsmen averaging 50 plus?

If haris scores 49 not out or 99 in the next odi innings , his average too will be 50. I wonder if any team has ever had top 3 batsmen averaging 50 plus in odis.

Also, even if Abid replaces Imam as the opener. He too averages 56, albeit with only 2 matches.

I don't know whether any team has had Top 3/4 averaging around 50, but I hope these players keep their averages above 50 at the end of the WC, as that would mean we will be performing well at the start of our batting and that would be very crucial, given that our middle order isn't very reliable.

Yeah we saw how helpful Imam's or Fakhar's averages were in the two Asia Cup matches.

Problem is that these players are not being backed up by other batsmen.

What are the averages when you remove the series vs Zimbabwe B ?

True that but i believe Babar and Haris still have pretty good averages against the other top 8 teams.

Anyways Abid is a superior batsman to both Fakhar and Imam and i believe he will average 47+ with decent strike rate if he is plays regularly in the team from now on.

Arguably the best top 3 in the world cup. Add haris and Rizwan at 4 and 5 and that's a top 5 on par with England and a full strength Australia . My goodness! Did not realise PAK's batting is that good. And in England even trundlers like Aamir and junaid might prove to be effective if the conditions favour them. Ideally you'd want to replace them with 150+ bowlers like hasnain and rauf but Pakistan have a serious chance at that trophy if inzi selects the right players.

I know its a useless stat but still is a stat , we are pakistanis and we are not used to have our batsmen having these kind of stats. So let enjoy us a little bit.

Haris Sohail has performed each time he has played against every opposition. After WC 2015, he averages 66 with the bat against Top 5 Teams only behind Virat Kohli and Ross Taylor in that list, with certain amount of runs.

Babar Azam may average well against Top 8, but it is 39 against Top 5. He needs to step up this time against Top teams for us to have any chance of going forward.

Fakhar and Imam were the biggest beneficiaries of that Zimbabwe B series and I agree with you regarding Abid, but I don't when will he get that proper chance, as Fakhar-Imam combo looks to be permanent for now.

with the top 3 batsmen averaging over 50, and bowlers averaging Shaheen (19), Hassan (24), Shinwari (19) and Shadab (27) - Pakistan will be unbeatable at the WC

Need top 3 to have there A game. With Hafeez Malik Sarfraz Imad Shadab we have sufficient batting to at least not collapse.

No use of such stats if they don't win us matches. And yes, the other batters and bowlers are to blame as well.

Starc, Cummins, Rabada, Bumrah, Boult, etc must be getting nightmares already thinking about bowling to such a powerful batting lineup.

Sometimes just sometimes when things look too good to be true they are this is one of those times.

Whao. Thats impressive considering how bad we are in ODIs.

So we if we get rid of Shoaib Malik (dont need his 32 ball 30) and slot in someone like Abid Ali we look decent.

Time to find the mojo in bowling again to start winning some games.

No, I don't think so. Pakistan may very well be the only one with such a statistically successful top three with a decent sample size. Throw in Haris Sohail and Mohammad Hafeez and that is a top five that is capable of helping us reach 270-280 every game, InshaAllah.

Average against tier 1 matters... they averages skewed playing lower tier teams..Zim/WI and AUS B Team. in UAE..

Inflated averages , thanks to minnows.

What are the averages when you remove the series vs Zimbabwe B ?

take the zimbabwe series out and what do you get?

With Fakhar you get an average of 57 against England, 48.33 against India, 50.67 against New Zealand and 33 against both South Africa and Sri Lanka. The sample size is still small at this stage, but you certainly can't suggest that his average is high solely down to the Zimbabwe series. In any case, even his lowest average is about the career average of Shoaib Malik who has had a 20 year career as a specialist batsmen in our team, so Fakhar can't be doing too badly.

Imam averages 54.20 against South Africa, 73.50 against Sri Lanka and 83 against Bangladesh. His average against India is just 6 but is based of two games and his average against Australia is 21 based of 3 games. Again, the sample size is small but you can't dismiss his average as only coming off the back of the series against Zimbabwe.

wasn't trying to downgrade the players lol, i legitimately wanted to know what their averages without the zimbabwe series was

Fakhar Zaman average 41 against non minnows from a representative sample of 23 matches. Imam averages 40.28 against non minnows from a representative sample of 16 matches.

Babar Azam averages 51 against non minnows but his average too falls to 43.80 if West Indies are classified as minnows. However, the representative sample size of 49 matches is decent and he can be classified as a proper 50 averaging batsman.

Haris Sohail averages 46.58 against non minnows but the represtative sample size of 21 matches is small. In short it can be argued that Babar Azam is the only proper 50 plus averaging batsman Pakistan has in it's arsenal.

Minnows or non minnows , All three currently have 50 plus averages and no other top three in the world have 50 plus average at the moment.
