Some Beta testing in progress for this as per news but will this kill the simplicity of Twitter? Will people lose interest if they see rambling tweets?

Isn't this a Timepass thread ??

On Topic: Most definitely !! Been using the platform for some time now and the beauty of being a Tweep is to articulate your thoughts in those 140 characters. The most weird part is that this decision came into effect because only 9% of the Tweets in langauges (English, Spannish, Finnish el all ~ other -ish languages) had posts which pushed the 140 barrier. Talk about being radical

A lot of FBesque brainlessness and nonsense will now plague this beautiful platform because every idiot with a keyboard and something to say might just have enough space to say it. Hate this decision :sanga

Twitter has been in serious decline for many years now. It's only use case lies in celebrities tweeting, or brands providing customer service.

Part of this is due to them pandering to trolls and bots: for example, one can post 1000 tweets a day without being flagged by the algorithm. Besides bots, this is of no use to anyone: clearly reveals Twitter's shady motives of them displaying that they have XYZ number of tweets the next time they press for funding.

They have to do something to spruce themselves up, and fast. And not sure this is the way. There is nothing personal about the network at all. Unlike Facebook, it's hardly a friend-to-friend network.

Twitter is doing great here isn't it ?
Only beaten by Whatsapp in terms of spreading propaganda.

It is just a medium. What is stopping the truthful from spreading the truth? Maybe because everyone is busy with their own narratives and are selective about the truth?

People who have this feature have already started abusing it too much.

I was in favor of it initially but now I'm strictly against this.

The best feature is still there, something that the rest do not have is the TRENDS...makes it way too interesting and at times informative as well.

Twitter is convenient. It’s probably the only social media app that’s viable in todays era - along with snapchat - due to its convenience.

Yes it has it’s flaws, but beig able to see a certain persons’ own views about something is a lot easier on Twitter than trying to go through their Facebook which is flooded with ads and generic statements. Obviously celebs’ tweets/posts are probs done by their own team but Twitter is usually more personalised. I mean, unless it’s a huge letter/essay, people don’t post on Facebook.

Twitter doesn’t need sprousing up. They’ve got Trump now so that’s more activity than they could wish for.

Back to my original point - Twitter is about convenience. And in todays day and age, convenience is the buzzword.

Seems like people writing novels on Twitter now!
