"Will walk around shirtless in Oxford Street if we win 2019 World Cup" : Virat Kohli

The reason CT final is not as prestigious is because India lost it :)))

If India won then King Kohli  and India is cricketing superpower and India of the 2010s.

Na india won 2 times champions trophy and yet no one in this cricket natiom talk about champions trophy and only remember world cup wins. Dhoni didnt get even 25 percent appreciation after 2013 win ,comparing to 2011 world cup win or even 2007 t20 world cup win.
Trust me there was not even that sort of atmosphere in india or any where in world ,comparable to the world cup.

But yeah it will make coming india pakistan matches in world even much more interesting now. Champions trophy is still a big win but dnt comapre it like its the end of the world

'As big a phainta' means margin of defeat. This is the second time today that an Indian fan has failed to comprehend my post. Sab theek hai?

Phainta doesn not break your heart.CLose games broke your heart and really hurt you ,those are the games we never forget.
we were hardly in the game in that final most of the match. Think about that misbah scoop shot in world t20. That would have really really hurt.

If you win a World T20 by 1 run or a World cup semi by 1 wicket its still a bigger phainta than any win in CT.

I'm big fan of Virat Kohli but I don't think India will win any ICC trophy under him. He is clueless captain most of the times and his team selection policy is mostly biased and confused.Even RCB is yet to win a single IPL title under him. Sorry virat you can celebrate shirtless but only in your dreams..

Unlike Dhoni, Kohli does not appear to have the Midas touch of winning tournaments. Dhoni is the greatest Limited Overs captain of all time, but he also had his fair share of luck, which you do need to win tournaments anyway.

However, when it comes to Kohli, anything that can go wrong for his team in tournaments generally does. Like Dhoni, Rohit seems to have that magic as well.

It is plausible that Kohli might not lift any trophy as the captain of India. It will be a shame though, he is arguably the greatest Limited Overs cricketer of all time and deserves to win a World Cup for his country as captain.

He will have to do it all by himself.

I doubt it even though it is hard to predict 5 years time but I think they will be the hot favourites to win that in home conditions - I'm basing this on the recent trend seen in the last couple of WCs where the hosts ending up lifting the trophy.

True. India will have to choke badly in order to not win the 2023 World Cup.

Although I'm a big fan of Kohli - you have rightly mentioned that his selection policy is biased for e.g. picking Rohit in a test series in SA. My question is why has a world class clutch player in Raina been dropped? When he's easily your best number 4/5 in the country because when I look at India's batting currently after Kohli (at no.3) the only guy who looks convincing is Pandya with his hitting credentials. The likes of Dhoni, Kedhar Jadhav and etc plus the Indian tail to me looks like it lacks batting depth compared to the likes of England, SA, NZ and etc.

India only won 1 CT in 2013

Sharam aapko aani chahiye, jo CT ko WC se compare karte ho, not only that in your delusional minds CT>>>WC, lol.

The fact is Pakistan beat India in an ICC ODI Final, and had India done the same, you lot would be rambling on about how India does great in ICC tournaments. That being said, once India were beaten, Indian fans are now further reduced to stats with in WC. How many people had money on India beating Pakistan in CT17 final? 99% I would say. India team was incredibility strong. And don't pretend you were not watching the match either.

Do not pretend only WC encounters matter between Pakistan / India. EVERY encounter matters, and until India beat Pakistan in an ODI final, Pakistan has bragging rights.

Of course, if you feel WC is all that matters, then fine, but next time don't you ever cite non-WC stats, including SRT's Test/ODI career. Deal?

India have NEVER won a CT Final by playing all 50 overs.

The 1st CT co-win for them was not even a win, it was a shared co-winner award because not a single ball was played vs Sri Lanka.

The 2nd CT win (which is the proper win) was a match reduce to 20 overs vs England.

The 3rd CT final, where India had to play 50 overs, well, we know the outcome.

In reference to the OP, I wonder if Kohli will walk from Tottenham Court road to Bond Street? The Pound stores will be an embarrassment! I suggest he take the Oxford Circuit, to Bond Street route!

Joint winners should be .5 each way, doesn't matter though :P

It doesn't work on your wishes though, please show me where it is written under the ICC rules that joint winners should be .5 each way?

You just proved me correct.

India have NOT won the CT trophy by playing all 50 overs.

In 2000 they got beat by NZ playing 50 overs.
in 2016 they got beat by PAK playing 50 overs.

The only time India won was in 2013, playing a T20 match effectively vs England, and 2002, which was not a win (but a declaration), but point being without playing a single ball.

Don't confuse them. Their own media started shouting - India have now won all ICC tournament finals - when they beat England in 2013.

WC - 1983
WT20 - 2007
CT - 2013

But if India want to claim half a win, shared win, then so be it.

Without playing a single ball? Do you deliberately come up such lame lies? At least put a little more effort into your trolling

My bad, India played 2 overs, TWO OVERS, and declared winners .

Point still stands, India have not won the CT playing 50 overs. Irony considering the CT is a 50 over tournament game.

India also bowled 50 overs on consecutive days and reduced lanka to a very low total which would have been easily chased under the dew but don't let facts come in the way of your delusions

Yeah I agree, sounds utterly ridiculous doesn't it? Winning a final by batting for 2 overs.

ANd stop saying the score would've been chased. The last time India were this confident was in the CT17 final. We all know how that went.

Any excuse for India.

Also, no one can be compared to Viv as the greatest ODI cricketer.

Atleast Kohli doesn't have a monkey on his back like Sachin did for the most part of his career for not winning a world cup. Kohli was part of the 2011 WC and is a CT winner too. Indians were way too jaded and had a big mental block against the Aussies in 2015. Now in 2019, their middle order woes still exist. Who knows who will be around in 2023

Says the guy whose team dodged a bullet in 1992 WC without playing full match. That was a major fluke tournament.

Congrats on CT17 final win.

I can see girls screaming Kohli's name and a fan mob chasing him. Will be an event to remember whenever Kohli decides to do it, whether India wins or not.

As good a batsman kohli is, he will never be a great captain nor will he let India be a great team under his leadership because of his biases selections.

Luck. :)))

Not an excuse. India got unlucky in the final, they will beat Pakistan 8/10 times.

Kohli second only to Viv at this point, but he is one great World Cup away from surpassing him in my view. He has proven himself on all fronts except for dominating a World Cup, and he is too good a player not to at some point.

England match in 1992 balanced the match where Pakistan lost a 1 point vs SA due to rain (Pakistan were on course winning the match vs SA in 1992)

Bet you didn't know that.

So I am correct, you didn't know. How many LOLs you are going to use to hide your disappointment?

You clearly did not watch the tournament, I am betting you were not born in 1992.

Ok bro.. What a match that was !!! Pakistan got robbed.

To be honest, team india has serious vulnerability in middle order. The top order is so strong that it mitigates the weakness of the middle order.
But in a tournament, a failure is bound to happen. And whatever team does that, India will get kicked out.

You were spot on...
