Eldar Namazov, former head of the presidential administration under Heydar Aliyev has shown supoport for Pakistan Airforce to be based in the country.
Namazov’s proposal is both pointed and deliberate. “A decision should be made to deploy the largest Turkish military base in the region, in Azerbaijan, in the near future,” he said. “For neighbors who do not understand, part of this base would be enough to serve a population of 250 million. It could even be leased to our other ally, the Pakistani Air Force, which possesses nuclear weapons.”

This little snippet of information comes after a recent meeting where the following was discussed:
During Tuesday’s meeting in Islamabad, both sides engaged in extensive discussions and underscored a shared commitment to fostering defense collaboration in training, modernization and technical expertise, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military’s media wing.

Deputy Minister Gurbanov “conveyed Azerbaijan’s strong desire for collaboration across Multi-Domain Operations, noting that Pakistan Air Force’s rich operational experience provides a valuable model for Azerbaijan,” the ISPR said in a statement after the meeting.

“He added that his country is especially eager to learn PAF’s complete methodology of Multi Domain warfare to strengthen its own capabilities.”

The hour-long India-Pakistan fight, which took place in darkness, involved some 110 aircraft, experts estimate, making it the world’s largest air battle in decades.

Pakistan’s Chines-made J-10s shot down at least one Rafale, Reuters reported in May, citing US officials. Its downing surprised many in the military community and raised questions about the effectiveness of Western military hardware against untested Chinese alternatives.

Deputy Minister Gurbanov termed the PAF’s seamless integration of multi-domain operations a “hallmark of modern air warfare” and conveyed Azerbaijan’s “keen interest” in learning from PAF’s battle-proven experience. Underscoring the importance of joint training initiatives through bilateral exercises between the two air forces, the visiting dignitary emphasized that such cooperation would enhance shared learning, interoperability and professional excellence, according to the ISPR.

During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu shared insight into the PAF’s various ongoing modernization projects, operational construct, force goals and plans for the force structure, with a focus on future warfare. He reiterated the PAF’s unwavering support to provide capacity-building assistance to the Azerbaijan Air Force in upgradation of its human resource, maintenance parameters and operational training.

Some subtle movements happening in Azerbaijan with Pakistan airforce in the mix. It would be a crazy turn of events to see Pakistani airforce stationed on European soil.

Some further insights, the Indians are clearly unhappy

India is seeking to take "revenge" on Azerbaijan at international organisations due to Baku's support for Pakistan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

Aliyev made the remarks on Monday during a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin, where leaders had gathered to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, according to the Azerbaijani presidency.

Sharif thanked Aliyev on behalf of the Pakistani people and government for what he called Azerbaijan's solidarity during the April-May military confrontation with India, in which Pakistan shot down multiple Indian jets, including Rafales

He also underlined the importance of the trilateral Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Pakistan format, recalling his previous visits to Baku.

Aliyev congratulated Pakistan on what he described as its victory over India and stressed that, despite New Delhi's actions in international forums, Azerbaijan prioritises "brotherhood" in its ties with Islamabad.

He added that his country is taking steps to implement the outcomes of trilateral meetings and highlighted the role of United States President Donald Trump in advancing Azerbaijani-American relations, noting the importance of his recent visit to Washington.

Strategic alignment

The two leaders also discussed expanding trade and economic cooperation within the Azerbaijani-Pakistani intergovernmental commission.

Sharif congratulated Aliyev on progress in the peace process with Armenia, which the Azerbaijani leader said was vital for ensuring lasting stability in the South Caucasus.

Aliyev has repeatedly emphasised that Azerbaijan's partnership with Pakistan is rooted in close political, cultural and strategic ties.

In recent years, Islamabad and Baku have expanded cooperation in defence, trade and regional security.
India, meanwhile, has reportedly been accelerating arms sales to Armenia in what analysts view as part of a broader effort to counter the growing strategic alignment between Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Pakistan, South China Morning Post reported.

Defence ties between New Delhi and Yerevan have been growing steadily since 2020.

Armenia-Pakistan ties

On the sidelines of the SCO summit on Sunday, Armenia and Pakistan made a formal announcement of establishing diplomatic relations.

Pakistan had not established diplomatic ties with Armenia due to the latter's occupation of Karabakh, a territory of Azerbaijan, with which it enjoys close ties.

Baku and Yerevan, however, are now edging closer to resolving their decades-long dispute.

Most of Karabakh was liberated by Azerbaijan during a 44-day war in the fall of 2020, which concluded with a Russian-brokered ceasefire that paved the way for talks on normalisation and border demarcation.

In September 2023, Azerbaijan established full sovereignty over the region after separatist forces capitulated.

Following Türkiye’s efforts, Baku and Yerevan reached a consensus on a peace agreement in March. Earlier this month, the leaders of the two former Soviet states signed a US-brokered deal aimed at ending the conflict during a meeting with Trump.

From Turkiye's point of view you can see why it makes sense. Pakistan has a poor reputation in many fields, but their defence airforce is admired worldwide. Also Pakistan/Turkiye brotherhood extends back to before the times of smash hit TV series Ertugrul.

Frequently seen in Turkiye and can be seen with their Assets, previously it used to be F7-PG but now JF-17, don't know about J10C. In Turkiye, PAF is frequently seen in Konya and Ankara and locals cheer them on etc, specially in Konya

PAK Army Medical Corp has been seen locally in Anatolia many times for decades, I think they train with Nurses/Doctors. Most Dentists in the area have served loads of Pakistani military personnel and gladly tell you about it.

Nothing new and nothing unusual.

Turkiye is second home for Pakistan...

Pakistan's Air Force is the best of its 3 wings. If they had more sway over their nation's politics (if one of the 3 wings had to in the first place), they'd be much better off than they are now, with the ground guys currently in charge.

Turks have good relations but the statements from Azerbaijani politicians are what interested me.

These kinds of click-bait Op-Eds may excite young boys online, but neither Azerbaijan nor Turkey are European powers, and even if this base idea materialized, it wouldn’t exactly shake the world.

Pakistan is an underdog as a military power, unable to even defend its own borders against India, having lost 4–5 wars, surrendered 90,000 soldiers, and half its nation in 1971. Turkey itself is only a slight upgrade over Pakistan militarily, but still sits in the lower tier of global power. Let’s not talk about Azerbaijan who can’t fight Armenia alone. To give you context, Lawrence Bishnoi with half dozen Mahindra Scorpios can take over Azerbaijan in a week or so. People like to get high on their own stuff but there are limits to fantasies as well.

It’s amusing how some from these smaller nations talk geopolitics as if they are needle-movers, when in reality the world hardly notices them. Outside of Baku and Karachi, no one seriously discusses Azerbaijan or Pakistan as serious military powers. They’re considered cruiserweights even in regional terms.

Turkey does carry some weight thanks to its geography and fairly advanced defence industry, but its relevance is largely tied to being a US pawn for countering Russia and Iran. Pakistan doesn’t even have the luxury of poking those giants, Shehbaz Sharif was literally pleading with Putin for scraps of a relationship. That’s not the posture of a country capable of pursuing bold, antagonistic moves.

Lol, you say these are click-bait, but you constantly post crap like this all over the forum.

Turkey is one of the leading military nations in the world. It has world class drone manufacturing capability with a stealth drone already being tested. They are also developing destroyers and frigates as well as their indigenous 5th gen fighter, KAAN and are way ahead of India on this. They are even developing their own indigenous turbofan engine, again way ahead of India.

These are all headlines, and will never happen unless America gives the go-ahead. Which they will never do. People seem to forget our foreign policies are not indepedent. We have overthrown an elected government because of US say so. We have also recently given the highest civil award to the US general who is the middleman to Asim Munir and the US government and who's only accomplishment has been to counter the PTI bloc in the US in return our generals doing whatever they want.

It's the same with Afghanistan, we have been bombing their eastern provinces with drones, helicopters, missiles and jets freely the past few weeks all with Uncle Sam's acceptance. And have been only doing this since we have been making deals with the US for minerals, deals which need the border calm for the US to make any money.

Bases like these also serve as deterrence and a military purpose. For us there is none, there is no way eg Israel would want nuclear capable bombers stationed 2 countries away. As an example. And we have no enemy to enciricle or deter. Ofcourse a base for instance in Nepal or Bangladesh, which would serve actual strategic purpose, we have never advanced with either country. Which tells you all need to know.
