"With my remodelled bowling action, I am less than 25% of the bowler I was previously" : M Hafeez

Mohammad Hafeez speaking after the first T20I against Sri Lanka:

"The most important thing is that you focus on yourselves, not the opposition. We are playing really good cricket"

"After the Tests, our morale was down as a nation and as a team but it's been uplifted after our performances in the ODIs"

"Winnings the ODIs 5-0 made every player's morale high"

"We kept our level of performance high, all players are playing their roles and giving winning performances"

"You don't play for Man of the Match awards, you want the team to win"

"Shinwari bowled an excellent spell and hit the right areas and he deserved the MoM award"

"Expectations were high after the CT win and all players have their roles and are carrying it out"

"Whatever team SL have selected, it must be their best team and that's why these players have been selected"

"Though they haven't performed so well in LOIs so far, we aren't taking them lightly"

"I would like to welcome the SL team to Lahore, everyone is very excited to have them there"

"For me it's a great moment for Pakistan cricket to see SL coming and I hope that more international cricket teams come to Pakistan after this tour goes well insha'Allah"

"I wasn't thinking about my comeback, I just wanted to play the role given to me"

"When I started bowling with my remodelled action, I've been bowling with the same remodelled action since then"

"There was no issue with my action in any of the other matches, it's just this one match - I believe there is no issue with my action"

"There will be a bend in my action but it's within 15 degree limit, I am confident there is no issue"

"I was hurt when my action was reported, my action is natural and I have done nothing deliberately"

"There is no such thing as me bowling with a different action sometimes"

"I think that with my remodelled bowling action, I am less than 25% of the bowler I was previously"

"I have done a lot of work on my action and on repetition, I check my action after every session and check every ball with the analysts"

"I hope I will pass the test and all this will be cleared"

"Playing for Pakistan in any format is an honour, I have tried to achieve a lot for Pakistan in my humble capacity"

"My critics always said I am not a good player in Tests and I respect their opinion but you look at the stats and I've played 50 Tests and maintained an average of nearly 40, I'm happy as an opener to have maintained these stats - I think if you average 40 as an opener then you are playing a good role for the team"

"I haven't been selected for Tests but whenever I am selected for any format, I will try to do whatever I can in my humble capacity"

Just like the batting "I have no technical issues with my batting" sameway bowling "No issues with my bowling" :hafeez2

This guy is so sly, haha. Will always try to talk his way out of situations- I admire that but recently his subtly has been fading and he's starting to look pretty obviously a phony.

I can't believe they cleared his action. lol he still mix it up with his old action. It's embarrassing to see.

Hafeez is pretty smart. He bowled a double wicket maiden in his first over yesterday. The ICC is definitely keeping an eye on him if he gets too close to 100% MVP status.

This guy is unbelievable.

He even wants to play tests, what a joke.

with him in the playing XI, Pak might have made it 2-0, instead of the 0-2, considering how toothless the other bowlers barring Yasir were

SL had a battalion of 6 lefties and everyone knows how effective MoHa is against lefties in the UAE.. It was the recipe for success for Pak all these years, where he paired up with Ajmal, Babar and co to give so many victories to Pak

Firstly, people need to understand Hafeez is masquerading as a batsman. The fact you have to rely on his bowling to justify his position in the team as a batsman is laughable.

Secondly, please stop spreading this myth. His bowling is not as effective as people like to think, especially in tests. Abdullah719 will provided the stats (please and thank you).

Thirdly, is he the only off-spinner in the country? How about he give someone else a go.

Fourthly, where is the l/t thinking in bringing back a 37 y/o who is a TTF in tests, because he is incapable of playing pace or the moving ball (things which should be taken as a given for an opener)?

This discussion is so tired. Move on.

To be fair, having him playing over Masood could have been a huge difference maker. A far superior batsmen and still a pretty good and economical bowler.

Can't wait to see the back of him. This shameless person wants to play test cricket lol. If I remember correctly he is one of the worst touring batsmen ever. I think he is like 570 out of 580 odd players. Honestly these journalist should present these facts to him and see what he thinks.

He was clearly chucking, which could be due to the fact his days are numbered specially since Harris is on bench. I can't believe we are benching someone like him for this cheater. Finally inzi(the pious) should be asked on what basis the cheater was bought into the t20 team again. As far as I am aware there weren't any domestic t20s going o. Could be inzi was watching him in his dreams performkmg .

He's probably 70%

Having said that, he's an asset for the team when not an opener due to his allround skills. Strange that he gets so much flak from people here

Why are people hating on Hafeez? He would make an exceptionally well Middle order batsman for Tests. I believe he has the potential be a superb opener with Azhar Ali. He has performed very well in limited over format. I see no problem with his strike rate. He performed very well in the Aussie tour, and Champions Trophy. He has power to hit boundaries, he can even bat at number 6. Not to mention, his deadly economical bowling, it would be perfect when combined with Yasir Shah. He can do anything and very well too. There’s a reason why he’s the #1 All rounder in the world.

when they lose with hafeez they wanted to give chance to a youngster. now after losing vice-versa lol..

It’s even worse that that.

He is the statistically the second worst batsman in history outside Asia. In 140 years.

He is the last major vestiage of the poisonous senior culture that we need to get to rid of.

He may sadly be the hardest to get rid of as well

Hafeez's 10 guaranteed economical overs in ODI's and 4 guaranteed economical overs in T-20's with a bonus 1-2 wickets along with his ability to stiffle left handers is completely under rated. He makes the other bowlers more dangerous and the team overall not only ends up stiffling runs but also getting wickets. I hope that he is able to last till the 2019 WC.

I see the action police are out in force on the board. The whole issue around actions is a farce. The rules are a farce. He was clearly not chucking before and he isn't chucking now. Its a joke and has adversely affected some players unfairly. He was reported by an Indian in their league while the rest of the world had no problem. Ever since then other umpires have been vigilant because of that initial report. Personally I think the chucking rules should be relaxed to make the game more interesting and help it. The disappearance of the doosra is a travesty and I suspect if some other countries had a raft of players bowling it we would not have had such an outcry.

No. You were a rubbish bowler without your chucking professor. Some of us have actually watched cricket before 07 to know how effective you were without your chucking.

Totally agree with this. Given the batting friendly era, rules, bowlers should be given some relaxation i.e. allowed to bend above 15 degrees, not all bowlers who chuck will be effective anyways.

Don't understand the hate for Hafeez. He is a very useful bowler (may be he chucks) and always gets you 1 or 2 wickets.

He is also one of the few fast scoring batsman left in Pak side along with Fakhar and Sarfraz(when he is in form).

Why would Pak fans want to show him the exit door asap is beyond me. If Hafeez was playing for India, I would want him in the side in place of Axar or even Chahal.

when he score quickly except in that ct final???

He is still a much capable batsmen than some of the pure spinners that India plays. You can expect Hafeez to score some 30 runs at least at 75-80 S/R most of the times. You cannot expect anything from Axar or Chahal with the bat.

Now coming to the bowling, Hafeez may not be as impressive as Kuldeep, but he is better bowler than Axar Patel and equally as effective as Chahal.

Hafeez would walk into the Indian ODI side in my team. He will be a useful batsman and an economical bowler. Precisely what you need from your all rounder.

IMO, Hafeez has still an year or 2 left in the tank. He should be there in the 2019 WC. Wickets will be flat and they will suit his batting style. He is smart enough to bowl his 10 overs for 50 or less runs.

If Babar opens Hafeez could be useful

Fakhar
Babar
Haris
Sarfraz
Malik
Hafeez
Faheem
Shadab
Hasan
Amir
Shinwari/Rumman

This side has great depth and balance.

So you are less than 25% of a bowler without chucking? Thats a dumb statement.

This guy is the Cricketing version of " The Prince ''. What a showman!

but dont say it out loud lest you get branded some kind of cricket heretic. The hysteria behind actions was absurd. I mean the way they brought the rule in was clearly an attempt to somehow continue the hegemony of the batsman. But why? because at that time the administrators thought the majority of cricket fans wanted to see 350 vs 350. And these "chuckers" were stopping that from happening. The rule evangelists then jumped on the band wagon.

Most openers are looking to average 50+ these days and he's happy with a nearly 40 average. :hafeez2
