"With Wahab, Amir and Abbas in our side, our fast-bowling package is very good" : Inzamam-ul-Haq

Inzamam-ul-Haq speaking to the media after announcement of Test squad for Sri Lanka series.

"The UAE is generally considered a batter's paradise so its not easy to dismiss a team twice"

"So where have chose 5 fast bowlers, we have also chosen 3 spinners so our bowling strength is very good"

"Also its going to be very hot in the UAE so we also have an idea of rotating fast-bowlers in this series"

"Yasir Shah did not do his fitness test yesterday as he had some tightness in his calf but this morning he has done his test and scored 17.5 in it"

"We had told Yasir Shah clearly that if you do not pass this fitness test then it will be difficult to select you"

"Yasir Shah has been one of the most successful bowlers for Pakistan in the recent past but even he has to conform to the standards we have set"

"Azhar Ali had a cyst in his knee and the doctors have recommended that he can play after taking injections"

"In Shan Masood's case, we gave him one Test match in the West Indies and it would be an injustice if we only give him one chance so he needs to be given another chance"

"I intend to give youngsters a chance to play in the UAE so that we can build their confidence"

"Salman Butt has great fitness for someone who has been out of cricket for almost 6 years; it is our intention to test him with an A tour to see how he fares in that"

"We have some good new fast-bowlers coming through such as Mir Hamza who has done very well in first-class"

"Wahab can bowl well with the old ball and at high-speed, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Abbas are also good so our fast-bowling package is very good"

"We are hopeful that the team will continue to perform well under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed as they have shown in the CT"

"Sarfaraz knows that he has to perform well in the Tests like any other player but he is our best choice as captain"

What happened to that 'no 30+ year olds in the A team' rule that Inzi said h would implement.

Wahab Riaz is not anywhere near good, Hasan Ali is many times better than him and should be selected ahead of him.

Is he really talking as if Wahab is more likely to be selected than Hasan Ali?

Hasan Ali is ideal for Tests- good control, can attack if pitched up or pull length back to bowl tight whereas Wahab has no control of length. If you are one test down maybe try Wahab as a last resort to see if he has one of his good days.

Will be surprised if Abbas will play in this series, his style of bowling is more suited to seam friendly conditions such as England, New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies where they use a version of the Dukes ball.

Good to see Inzamam talking about rotating the pacers as historically Pakistan have ran their leading fast bowlers into the ground.

Wahab Riaz has done nothing wrong in test match cricket. He's a potent weapon in the UAE with his pace and reverse-swing, which he showed during the series against England.

Shan Masood is getting a last chance so none of his fans can cry about him being a victim of injustice, five years from now.

Then how was he able to perform good against WINDIES on those dustbowls

Abbas has bowled with Kook in Pak Domestic all his life with slow, low, dead pitches with no overcast conditions....He can deal with UAE.

Prepare to be surprised

Asad Shafiq has NOT been appointed as VC of Pakistan test team.. We have checked with PCB. No VC has been named yet.

Pakistani domestic uses the Grays ball which swings prodigiously. The pitches have been very green in recent years with the FC season taking place between Oct-Dec when conditions are particularly overcast in Punjab.

There's nothing wrong with adopting a horses for courses strategy with our bowlers - there are some places that suit a particular style of bowling and others that do not. Abbas from what I've seen is a classic line and length seam and swing bowler who relies more on accuracy than pace. He'd be one of the first names on the teamsheet in England and New Zealand but I'd be more hesitant to use him in Australia or UAE.

I wish wahab perform well otherwise inclusion of Junaid will give more strength to our words.

Dukes ball. We need to see how he fares with the Kookaburra.

I dont understand Pakistan's love for Kookaburra, its crappy ball and does not suite our style of bowling or any style of bowling... Is that because of price??

First off, Wahab has done great in UAE with reverse swing, he has won us atleast one match per series in last 2/3 years. He does well when he is fresh, we can use him for 2/3 years in test...

Secondly, if we started playing Amir and Hasan in every match and format, we will loose them to injuries soon, we should rotate Amir and Hasan in test(one of them should play)...I don't want to see Amir playing every test either, its too much for fast bowler...
