Women's ODI World Cup 2025: Discussion thread

32 to win from 59 balls. 4 wickets in hand.

England are cruising now. They had a hiccup earlier.

It is funny when women players yell at each other. It sounds like birds chirping.

Bangladeshi keeper talks too much. If I were a bowler, I would be annoyed if keeper was lecturing me so much. :inti

Keeper is yelling every single ball. This is not how you play cricket. Talking this much and yelling this much can make bowlers and fielders nervous.

Coach should ask the keeper (also the captain) should talk less. LOL.

England went from 103/6 to 155/6 (target: 179).

Good recovery.

They should win it now.

Looks like same old story for BD Cricket doesnt matter if its the mens or womens:

9:49pm For those joining late, Heather Knight, player of the match with her 79*, was caught on 13 only for television umpire to Gayathri Venugopalan to overturn the decision, despite stating her replays were "inconclusive".

"Can't say I've been out three times and been reprieved in an innings, that's a new one for me," said Knight on the reprieve. "I thought it carried and thought it was a fair catch, which is why I walked off. The third umpire decided otherwise."

England seems lucky

Spirited performance by Bangladesh but they never had enough runs tbh. Even 220 could have made the match very interesting.

India Women 91/3 after 20 overs. They are in a good position to 250+ here.

India struggling at 103-6 after 27 overs. This team was in form just before the World Cup against Aussies. They have all lost form at the wrong time.

This partnership is taking India towards posting a competitive total total here. 149/6 after 38 overs.

This time Indian women team will not reach wc semis
We're too good for that.

Just had a look at the score. Incredible partnership (with some luck thrown in) between Richa Ghosh who's fast emerging as a star and Sneh Rana has given us a solid chance in this game.

For some reason, the entire batting, bowling and fielding seems to be in slow motion. Even when the batswoman hits a big shot, the ball seems to be going very slowly in the air.

The ball is turning.

Means SA will find it hard to handle the turn. India has plenty of spinners.

Never seen so many spectators for a women's match. The stadium seems packed.

Good for women's cricket.

Well Done Rich Ghosh !! What An Inning, One Of The Greatest Knock Under Pressure !!!

Hard Luck For Century Champion Gir

Seems like you are an expert in women's cricket
Why him alone! Everyone here seems to be an expert in all kinds of cricketing matters including playing, coaching, fitness, psychology, selection, and everything that remains. Only the people responsible don’t have a clue.

Unfortunately, we have only few true experts here..others are just great cricket enthusiasts.

Amazing hitting from SA's lower order batswomen .. snatching victory from defeat ?

BCCI is pouring millions into women’s cricket, their salaries are higher than those of players from some men’s cricketing nations. Even the WIPL franchise prices are greater than PSL. Yet, Indian women’s team remains mediocre, they are still not good enough to consistently compete with the SENA countries, particularly Australia.

What an innings by De Klerk. Batted like Heinrich Klassen. That was some epic hitting.

Indian women bowling in the last 10 overs was shambles. Full tosses on legside and hit me length balls. :nehra

A remarkable win for South Africa. At 5/81 they seemed up against it. Brilliant hitting by de Klerk

South African batters upstaged India’s brilliant effort to reach 251 from 6/102

Both teams showed depth in their batting.

Things can still change but Australia, England, South Africa and India look the likely semifinalists at this stage. NZ and Bangladesh have an outside chance.

An unbeaten 84 from Nadine de Klerk and a gritty half-century by skipper Laura Wolvaardt steered South Africa to a thrilling three-wicket win over hosts India in the 10th match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, played at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 252, South Africa crossed the line with seven balls to spare, thanks to de Klerk’s powerful six over deep mid-wicket off Amanjot Kaur on the fifth ball of the 49th over. It marked the Proteas’ second consecutive win in the tournament.

Their run chase, however, began on a shaky note as India’s Amanjot Kaur and Kranti Gaud struck early, leaving the visitors reeling at 18/2 within the first six overs.

Veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp (20) then joined Wolvaardt to rebuild with a 39-run stand for the third wicket before falling to Sneh Rana in the 14th over. The Proteas soon slumped further, losing wickets at regular intervals and collapsing to 81/5 in the 20th over.

Wolvaardt, however, held firm amid the chaos, anchoring the innings with a composed 70 off 111 balls, which included eight boundaries. She was given valuable support by Chloe Tryon, and together they stitched a crucial 61-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Wolvaardt eventually fell in the 36th over.

Tryon missed out on a half-century by a whisker, scoring 49 off 66 balls with five fours. But it was de Klerk who turned the tide, launching a counterattack from the lower order. Her blistering 84* off just 54 balls, laced with eight fours and five sixes, proved to be the match-winning knock that powered South Africa to a memorable win.

For India, Rana and Gaud claimed two wickets each, while Deepti Sharma, Amanjot Kaur, and Shree Charani took one apiece.

Earlier, after being put into bat, India posted a total of 251 before being bowled out in 49.1 overs. Openers Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal provided a solid start, adding 55 runs before Mandhana was dismissed by Nonkululeko Mlaba in the 11th over for 23 (32 balls), which included a four and a six.

Mandhana’s departure triggered a middle-order collapse as India lost six wickets for just 98 runs in 29.4 overs, slipping to 153/7 by the 40th over.

Richa Ghosh then led a spirited recovery, hammering 94 off 77 balls with 11 boundaries and four sixes. She was well-supported by Sneh Rana (33 off 24), with whom she added a vital 88-run partnership for the eighth wicket. Rana’s knock came to an end in the 48th over, dismissed by Kapp.

Chloe Tryon was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa, finishing with figures of 3/32 from her 10 overs. Mlaba, de Klerk, and Kapp took two wickets each, while Tumi Sekhukhune chipped in with one.

With this victory, South Africa climbed to fourth place on the Women’s World Cup standings with four points from three matches. India, despite the loss, remained third due to a superior net run rate.

I see some posters who were not interested about women's Cricket and didn't even had guts to open a thread are enjoying the match. Good to see :klopp :kp

It was necessary for glory hunters to show the mirror. Saarrr I don't care about women's cricket and not interested to open a thread.

But just because indian women's have lost a game they care so much for women's cricket.

Phle apni team ki bhi performance dekh le , 3-0 se sharmnak har gye hai , and mo I'm not talking about men's but women's cricket performance in World cup so far.

BD-W bossing the game right now. (As expected). Need just 190 from 210 balls. :genius

The truth of the matter is SENA women are just way more athletic than our Desi women. I dont think even million dollar WIPL is going to change that.

BD Women are 38/6 against NZ. They clearly dont belong in this tournament.

New Zealand Women defeat Bangladesh Women by 100 runs in match 11 of Women ODI WC 2025

New Zealand bounced back in style, opening their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 account with a dominant 100-run victory over Bangladesh on Friday. The win gave the White Ferns their first two points of the tournament. They are level with Bangladesh, who suffered their second consecutive defeat.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, New Zealand posted a competitive 227/9, led by fifties from Brooke Halliday and Sophie Devine. Their bowlers then produced a disciplined display to bowl out Bangladesh for 127 inside 40 overs. Only three Bangladesh batters managed to reach double figures as partnerships proved hard to come by.

Leah Tahuhu and Jess Kerr spearheaded the attack with three wickets each while Rosemary Mair chipped in with two. Amelia Kerr and Eden Carson also made key contributions, dismissing captain Nigar Sultana Joty and Fahima Khatun respectively.

Bangladesh faltered early in the chase, slipping to 33/6 before Nahida Akter and Fahima Khatun added some resistance with a 33-run stand for the seventh wicket. Khatun later built another brief partnership with Rabeya Khatun but once she fell, the innings quickly folded, handing New Zealand a much-needed win to get their campaign back on track.

In the first innings, Brooke Halliday and Sophie Devine struck fighting fifties to guide New Zealand to 227/9 after a shaky start against Bangladesh.

Nigar Sultana Joty's side continued to strike at regular intervals at the death but couldn't contain the flow of boundaries as New Zealand pushed past the 200-run mark. Rabeya Khatun (3/30) was the standout performer for Bangladesh with the ball while Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akter and Nishita Akter chipped in with a wicket each.

Batting first, New Zealand endured a nightmare start, slipping to 32/3. However, Halliday and Devine steadied the innings with a 100-run stand that shifted momentum back in their favour. Khatun eventually broke the crucial partnership, dismissing Halliday to halt New Zealand’s recovery.

Earlier, Bangladesh got off to a dream start, striking with three quick wickets to leave the White Ferns reeling at 32/3. Rabeya Khan led the charge, removing Georgia Plimmer before Suzie Bates was run out in the same over. Plimmer was the first to fall, stumped after misjudging Khatun’s flighted delivery before the spinner returned in her next over to bowl Amelia Kerr and tighten Bangladesh’s grip on the contest.

Bangladesh will look to keep their campaign alive when they face an in-form South Africa side on October 13 while New Zealand take on Sri Lanka the following day on October 14, with the hosts still searching for their first win.
