BD captain says 200 is tough chase if top order does not click. 200 is massive score in Women Cricket.

That hardly matters to fans like him. For him, every game that Ind-W losses in this WC is equivalent to BD-W winning the WC. Ind-W hv lost one match already. Implies, BD-W hv registered one WC title under their belt. More to follow. :yk2
 
Top 6th would be pretty good finish for BD women team. Couple of years ago, I dont think they were even ranked.

Just tuned in, our Girls flying high!...

Must say Pratika Rawal as the gift of timing and is elegant of the Damien Martyn, Mark waugh, Zaheer Abbas, Greg chappel mould - plays tall... top hand is on top of the handle and gap between bottom hand...

on another front - just love our outfit for ODI - both W and M's ..hope they don't change this for a long time....

& Vizag is just an awesome place, a delight...the stadium is in such wonderful surrounds with the beach and mountains in the background!
 
India 208/2 in 32 overs.... great start by India, they need to score at least 330-340 considering strong Australian batting
 
Indian tail is hopeless. Again failed to play the full 50 overs.
All these tailenders had to do was to take a single and give the strike to Rana.
 
Will be very surprised if Aussies loose this .this is betting pitch and india last 5 over can cost the match.

Alyssa Healy led from the front with a blistering century as Australia sealed a thrilling three-wicket win in their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 clash against India, chasing down 331 with an over to spare. The game went right down to the wire but despite losing wickets at crucial stages, Australia held their nerve to cross the finish line.

The victory takes Australia to the top of the table with seven points from four matches while India slip to third with four points from as many games, their second consecutive defeat of the tournament.

Besides Healy, Ellyse Perry (47*) and Ashleigh Gardner (45) made crucial contributions to help Australia seal a hard-fought win. Among the Indian bowlers, Sree Charani (3/41) stood out with an impressive spell while Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur chipped in with two wickets each.

India appeared to be back in the contest after striking twice in quick succession to remove Gardner and Sophie Molineux but once the previously retired-hurt Perry returned to the crease, she steadied the chase and guided Australia home.

In the first innings, Australia produced a brilliant bowling display in the latter stages, bowling India out for 330. Smriti Mandhana topscored for India with Pratika Rawal providing solid support during their commanding opening stand. However, once the duo departed, India lost wickets at regular intervals, slipping from 294/5 to 330 all out.

Annabel Sutherland (5/40) starred with the ball, claiming a superb five-wicket haul, while Sophie Molineux (3/75) chipped in with key breakthroughs. Ashleigh Gardner and Megan Schutt also picked up a wicket each.

India’s innings had its share of highs and lows. Mandhana and Rawal set the tone with a commanding 150-run partnership for the first wicket, the highest opening stand against Australia in the tournament’s history.

Mandhana led the charge with a blistering 80 off 66 balls, an innings laced with nine fours and six sixes, while Rawal too played a strong innings with a composed 75 featuring 10 boundaries. Both registered their first half-centuries of the tournament with Mandhana also becoming the youngest and fastest to reach 5000 ODI runs.

The first breakthrough came when Sophie Molineux dismissed Mandhana, breaking the big partnership before Annabel Sutherland removed Rawal. From there, India lost two quick wickets, as Harmanpreet Kaur fell to Megan Schutt and Harleen Deol, who also crossed 1000 ODI runs, was dismissed by Molineux.

Despite the setback, Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues provided late fireworks, adding a lively 50-run stand with their explosive cameos. However, once the duo departed, there was little India could do despite being well-placed at 294/5.

They are an extremely wealthy, resource rich nation and have everything going for them - high nutrition standards, education etc. etc. And the cricketing infrastructure is unbelievable right from grassroots/pathways to national team.
 
That Bangladeshi keeper talks too much. This can make the bowlers and fielders nervous. She should talk less. :inti

I know some women talk too much but this is annoying even by their standard.

The keeper was again yelling and scolding a player.

You shouldn't behave like that on a cricket field. Not good for team spirit.

I am afraid the keeper belongs in the kitchen. She shouldn't play cricket. :inti

RSA was 92/5 at one point, and BD still lost? It's the same thing, mens team womens team, doesnt matter. They will win these hearts, lungs, etc anything except for the actual result.

Also, I can tell, no one from higher background plays Cricket it seems. Both mens and womens team really need some mental coaches.

They also should've won the game against ENG I believe. They really need some mental coaches. Looks like RSA was 78/5 at one point. How does one lose game from such position?

Like even if they score 300 and opposition is something like 50-6, you can bet opposing team will win 90% of those games against BD, be it mens team or womens team.

Money is one thing, but culture too. No one from upper background are into sports in our Desi culture. They would probably decide to go into soap opera, modeling or normal 9-5 jobs.
 
I think teams that field second are at a distinct disadvantage. Bangaldesh were done in by heavy dew.
 
Nadine de Klerk got South Africa over the line again as they recovered from another top-order collapse to beat Bangladesh by three wickets at the Women's World Cup.

Having been set 233 to win in Visakhapatnam, the Proteas slipped to 78-5 before half-centuries from Chloe Tryon, who made 62 from 69 balls, and Marizanne Kapp, 56 from 71 balls, brought them back into contention.

Kapp fell with 70 still needed to bring De Klerk - fresh from her heroics against India - to the middle, and for a time it seemed that she and Tryon would get South Africa home comfortably.

Instead, Tryon was run out with 35 required and there were more uncomfortable moments to come as De Klerk twice miscued in the penultimate over with match in the balance.

While the first skied shot landed safely, the second went straight to long-off but Shorna Akter dropped the catch - a particularly cruel moment given it was the 18-year's superb 34-ball fifty that had earlier taken Bangladesh up to a competitive total.

But having been given that life, De Klerk - who ended unbeaten on 37 from 29 balls - made sure she finished the job and a mighty six over the leg side sealed the victory with three balls to spare.

While South Africa can celebrate a third straight win, and a second in a row in which they have battled back from a losing position, Bangladesh are left to rue a number of crucial dropped catches.

Rabeya Khan put down a simple chance off her own bowling to give Proteas skipper Laura Wolvaardt a chance early on.

Sub fielder Soumya Akter then dropped Tryon on 46 off Rabeya's bowling in the 44th over, allowing the ball to run away for four, with the next ball disappearing for six before Shorna's drop late on.

Most women in Bangladesh don't care about cricket.

Women's cricket itself isn't very serious. Slow bowling, very small boundaries, slow fielding etc. Women's cricket is all about giving ladies exercises and making them disciplined. :inti

You were dancing when Indian women lost to SA W.

However, I sympathize with Bang-W. They had SA in trouble just like India had them. But that De Klark once again showed she is the best finisher going around.
 
Dew helped South Africa & Australia against India, dew also helped South Africa today. Bowlers can hardly grip the ball in such wet conditions.

Why don't start early as 11.30-12pm so there is very little effect of dew.

The team batting second will win this edition of WWC, most probably it would be Australia.
 
One drawback of women's cricket is the fact it can make women masculine.

For example, when I was watching BD vs SA game today, many of these South African ladies looked pretty masculine. They are probably stronger and more masculine than many desi males in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. :inti

How can it be ensured ladies do not become masculine by playing cricket?

1) Remove sixes. They don't hit many sixes anyway. Only fours should be allowed.
2) Make the boundaries even shorter so that they don't have to hit very hard for a boundary.
3) Replace the wooden ball with a soft yet bouncy tennis ball.
4) Color the pitch pink. Make boundary rope pink.

So then why did they decide to Bat first? They had RSA at 78/5, game should've been won from that position. We see the same issue in our mens Team. Whenever they have teams on the rope (i.e. 5 or 6 wickets for cheap runs) they never finish the game. They always get relaxed and take the game easy.

I dont really care since this is womens game. However, I do believe BD team really could use some mental coaches for these sorts of tough situations. When we had Pakistan for 71/6 in Mens T20, I honestly thought we would've won that game.

Ya.. you should finish the innings before 35th over or so. By that time your spinners will start losing control when the dew is heavy. Ball will come on nicely.

Ridiculous statements from you about masculine women. But expected.

Women's cricket is fine the way it is. The only change would be to either play 20 over format or 30 over format. 50 over is a stretch even for Men's cricket. If Women's cricket has to make bigger impact, the game has to pickup pace.

Indian women, Aus and SA women were able to hit sixes with reasonable ease. Its all about fitness and strength training.

That's the thing. Hitting too many sixes can make them masculine.

Remove six and they can remain natural and feminine cricketers. :inti

The best teams are Aus and SA so far and they deserve to play finals. However it would be nice if a team of desi girls make it to finals.
 
Australia and England to meet in Final, I think... Australia to lift another trophy.
 
Sri Lanka were really unlucky today. They definitely could have beaten NZ on this pitch with the total they posted.
 
South Africa looks the side that can beat Aussie girls. They have the hunger to go all the way.
 
Looks like BCB is investing money on the wrong team. Women team should get more budgets. They were a nothing team two years ago, they played pretty well this tournament.

They are supposed to cook, clean, raise children, and ensure their husbands are happy with them. Those are the primary responsibilites for a woman.

After taking care of those, if they have some free time, they can play a bit of cricket I guess. :inti
 
Looks like they are getting smashed by Aus women. That is expected. Anyway, props to our women team. They get peanuts from BCB, and unlike Men, looks like they also won some Asia Cup as well at least.
 
Give the cup to Australia and get this over with. Damn this was what said when India was dominating 2023 world cup. Even aussies were saying give the cup to India already. Great anti climax. Let us hope we find another winner. SA is the form team.
