Women's ODI World Cup 2025: Discussion thread

ROFL just stop. There is no point to this. This tournament should be held between SENA teams only + IND only due to markets and huge invests done in WPL.

Cant run between wickets, cant field to put in a dive, cant catch either. Cant chase 10 runs even with 7 wickets in hand. Complete waste of anyone's time. Why are we being fed this mockery of sport?
Your women team are doing and achieved as much as your men's team including winning an Asia cup.

Your misogyny won't let your accept that.

It's no surprise that women from countries which have more freedom and open mentality for women are doing better than misogynist Asian countries.

Some of the comments we have in here with regards to women and women sports is sickening and very incelish.

I mean how do you expect to have a strong women team from a country where a legend like Afridi bars his daughter from playing sports or one of the best natural six hitters has to give up cricket.

India will also take a long time to catch up, 100s of years of mental conditioning doesn't fix itself overnight.

I root for women's cricket in all the countries regardless of how slow their development is. Especially Asian girls will take a while to catch up. In terms of skill wise there is definite improvement in all the teams. Just that mental side needs improvement. That will improve over time. India was never considered a serious contender until they knocked mighty Australia out from semi final in 2017 world cup.

Australia showcased their all-round brilliance today.
.
The best team of the tournament. No wonder they have won the World Cup 7 times (dominating it like their men’s team)

Despite being without their regular captain Alyssa Healy (wife of Starc) and despite being 68/4 they cruised to a magnificent victory against England.

They just never give up..

Annabel Sutherland and Ash Gardner compiled a 180-run partnership to help Australia cruise past England in their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 clash.

With the defending champions four wickets down for 68, the duo combined for a valuable stand, with Gardner bringing up her second century at this Cricket World Cup.

Coming in to bat at number six, Gardner amassed an unbeaten 104 runs off 73 deliveries, an innings composed of 16 fours.

Meanwhile Sutherland complemented with an unbeaten 98 of her own, lacing the knock with nine boundaries and one maximum.

The win marks Australia's fifth at this tournament and sees them rise to the top of the eight-team standings, with 11 points from their six outings - one of which was washed out.

Meanwhile England remain third in the points table, with both the teams having already sealed their place in the semi-finals.

Earlier, Lauren Bell and Linsey Smith had removed both Australian openers in the powerplay as England set up for an exciting second innings of their heavyweight clash.

Bell would kickstart England's proceedings with the ball, producing an absolute jaffa to remove Phoebe Litchfield in the first over.

It wouldn't take long before Linsey Smith poaches her first wicket, darting one in to bamboozle Georgia Voll as England gained ascendancy with the ball.

Smith then made it a brace for herself, inducing a soft caught-and-bowled dismissal to get rid of Ellyse Perry in her opening burst.

Beth Mooney and Annabel Sutherland tried to steady the ship for Australia with a good partnership, before captain Nat Sciver-Brunt held onto a smart catch to send Mooney back.

Having won the toss and put England in to bat first, the defending champions were pegged back early in the powerplay as England openers Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones found early boundaries.

The duo would compile 55 runs for the opening wicket but just as the two seemed to be in full flow, Annabel Sutherland provided Aussies with the opening breakthrough.

The right-arm quick would get one through Jones' defence, nipping the ball back in to crash into the off stump.

Sutherland's opening strike was soon followed by Sophie Molineux trapping Heather Knight LBW as Australia claimed their second wicket against England.

Alana King then further tightened the screws for the Aussies, plucking the all-important wicket of England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt as Australia bounced back with the ball.

King would lure Sciver-Brunt into a big heave by taking the pace off her leg spin, but the England captain would end up playing a miscued stroke that landed straight in the hands of Sutherland at mid-off.

At the other end, Tammy Beaumont notched her first half-century of the tournament to set an early foundation for England's innings.

Compiling 78 off 105 deliveries, an innings that included 10 fours and one maximum, Beaumont led England's charge with the bat as the top-scorer in the first innings at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

However, Annabel Sutherland would eventually bring an end to Beaumont's stay in the middle as England lost their fourth wicket. With Beaumont looking to clear the ropes down long on, Georgia Voll displayed immaculate awareness to remove the England opener.

Australia then struck twice in quick succession to send Emma Lamb and Sophia Dunkley packing. With England six wickets down, Alice Capsey (38) and Charlie Dean (26) stitched a 61-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

The stand helped England to finish with 244 runs on the board from their quota of 50 overs.

Australia will take on South Africa next in their final league stage fixture on October 25 while England face New Zealand the next day.

I think AusW have the luxury to decide if they play Kiwi ladies or Desi babes in SF ...

South Africa look like the only team that could beat Australia. I hope they meet in the final.

Paksitan have won ZERO matches in ICC tournaments this year - men and women combined lol.

Bangladesh have won more.

Pakistan has played 6 matches and has not won a single match yet. 6-0 for pakistan. Congratulations :klopp :kp
Had England down to their knees and would have smashed them if rain hadn't played spoilsport. Gave Aus a much tougher fight than your girls as well.

Reality is Pak lost to Aus and didn't win vs England.

And the most important point - they LOST to India making it the 4th Sunday loss in row

Pak women bowled well against England, Australia (first half) and India.

Batting was just not good enough and is the main reason why they find themselves at the bottom of the table …same problems as the men’s team btw!!!

Batting’s heavily reliant on one or two individuals. Sidra Amin can only do so much.

This will be like Aus match where 330 was chased easily. Indian teams men and women lack clutch gene and are chokers. Bye bye from home WC for chokers.

India 192/0, going great

Should score 350 +/- from here

What’s the highest opening stand in women’s ODis?

TWO HUNDRED RUNS OPENING PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN SMIRTHI MADHANA AND PRATIKA RAWAL.

this is first 200 runs opening partnership in women world Cup history.

:klopp :kp

That opening partnership of 212 runs has put India in a great position to post a total of well over 300 here.

India should look to score over 350. But collapsed can happen at any time.

228-1 after 36 overs .

:kp

23180 is the official figure of fan's in the stadium, and it's the highest for a league game. :kp

Lovely batting by queen Mandhana. She is better player than any Pakistani current player players including men's @RizwanT20Champ :klopp :kp
She has better balls/six / balls/four than Babar

One down , nine to game. Suzi ka halwa bana ke kha liya.

NZ 1/1

Semifinals we are coming to play against mighty Australia.

:klopp :kp

Considering that Pak men don't win anything and Pak women don't either, Pak men should look to transition and play for Pak women. Might defeat the likes of Bang/SL that way. Will still lose to India though.

Gill and Abishek can surely play in womens team without transitioning with their looks and voices.

Need some rain here. NZ women were robbed of points in earlier matches vs weak teams because of rain. India will get humiliated by their daddies Aus in womens cricket as well in SF

Agan showing your fake propaganda. They were lucky that Srilanka game washout otherwise they would have lost the match.

Hahahaha you were syaing NZ would defeat India lol.

And now again making Aussies your new mommies after making them your daddies.

At least they made SF. Pak men and women couldn't make SF in their last WCs lol. Pak men in fact in T20 WC and CT as well.

Ind women's team would defeat Pak men's team.

Already WPL salaries are higher than PSL indicating higher quality of Indian women's cricket compared to Pakistan men's cricket.

Feel bad for the Kiwi ladies. Halliday out up a fight. But they are not Australia.
They have limitations. India is still a strong team. India could have potentially won against every SENA team. They screwed themselves over during a small passage of play.

India booked their berth in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 after a convincing win over New Zealand at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The result means that the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side have followed Australia, England and South Africa as the teams that will vie for a place in the summit clash.

Having kickstarted their tournament with successive wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan, India were dealt with three defeats in a row from South Africa, Australia and England.

Facing New Zealand in a crucial matchup, the two-time runner-ups delivered a dominant display with bat, followed by a clinical finish with the ball to nab two points.

Following their victory over the White Ferns, India moved to six points with three wins. Both New Zealand and Bangladesh can also reach six points with wins in their final fixtures.

However, even if India lose their last match against Bangladesh, they will advance based on the number of wins – the primary tiebreaker for teams finishing level on points at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.

Defending champions Australia had become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals after their win against Bangladesh. The only unbeaten team at the ongoing tournament, Australia sit atop the eight-team standings with 11 points from six matches.

The Proteas became the second team to qualify, currently boasting 10 points with a game in their hand.

Meanwhile, four-time winners England were the third team to punch their ticket for the semis after their narrow win over India.

The first semi-final will be played on 29 October at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, while the second final-four contest will be hosted at Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai the day after.

Ind-W will surely lose to Aus-W in the SF. Having said that, it's definitely better to crash out in the SF against a champ team rather than exiting in the group stage like cowards.

India deserving semifinalists

The only team apart from Australia to make two 300 plus scores in this World Cup

More than mental it is the fitness in the Asian girls. They need to catch up to that a lot. The Girls from SENA play all kinds of sports that are of there interest since juniors. We need to have that culture in Asia. Lot of catching up to do but till then we need to promote and encourage these girls.. despite the failures.

Pakistan is even behind that because they are the most patriarchal country in the Indian subcontinent. Their economy suffers due to lack of women in the workforce.

So it will be India vs Australia once again...LOL...

Another thrashing coming..

Just a reminder than Australia has not topped the table yet. That will depend on the SA vs Aus group match.
