Women's ODI World Cup 2025: Discussion thread

A lot of people hate on women's Cricket because men do it faster and better. It's true, but simpler things can be as thrilling to watch just like simpler video games. People still take joy in playing 20 year old games despite terrible graphics and gameplay. It's all about the community, they make the sport, and not just about the quality at display.

True. Even Tennis has the same issue - women’s tennis is slower & cannot generally match up to the men’s edition. But all you need is a good narrative like a close match or a great rivalry (like Evert vs Navratilova or Graf vs Seles) to make it interesting and overlook the shortcomings.

Apart from pace bowling, I don't see much difference in Cricket between men and women. They hit 80-meter sixes easily. They also score 300 more frequently these days. Litchfield literally turned into a right-hander and reverse-swept the ball for 6. They have come a very, very long way.

I watched yesterday’s run chase and it was anything but boring. A run chase of 338 is never chased in a WC semi final or Final by Men or Women team in history ever. This was just incredible.

In Men’s cricket, has ever a target of 300+ chased even in a WC semi final or Final? I remember 2015 WC semi final NZ vs SA was closest when NZ chased 298 in 43 overs but it was also regarded as one of the best match of WC history.

This win by Indian Women Team is simply incredible and historical. It will be regarded as one of the greatest days of Indian Women cricket.

This is why knockout matches should be played at traditional centres like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Delhi.

Hope better sense prevails & BCCI slots the final of 2026 T20 WC at one of the above mentioned cities & not that panauti ground.

Records show that the Australian women's team has lost 6 matches since 2017 and out of those 6 defeats, they have lost 3-4 matches to India including 2017 World Cup semi-final loss.

:kp
The record suggested that Australian women have dominated women's cricket for years..

India did a great job toppling them... Congrats. Can beat the Proteas as well. They are on a roll here.

Moral of the story for you - Never ever under instead Indian's. :klopp :kp

Jokes made based on misogyny is misogyny. Misogyny alone is not funny or lighthearted. Whats the punchline? Whats lighthearted about body shaming people?

There is no punchline, no subversion. For example when southpark or its always Sunny makes such jokes, they have the most despicable characters do it, like eric cartman or Frank Reynolds. The joke is that these people are horrible which is why they are saying these things, it's not that racism or misogyny by themselves is funny.

I would like you to explain how misogyny by itsself is light hearted or funny. In what circumstances? How is me saying - hey I am saying this seriously, different from me saying the exact same thing, but just adding, I was just joking, it was lighthearted - at the end.
Let it go now and enjoy the win. We all make mistakes and he knows it, given the reaction he received - I’m sure he isn’t going to do that again. There are far worse things said here than that by some serial offenders. You point them out, and move on.

Kohli is a loser though in ko of odi
How come

Scored 35 in 2011 WC final when India were 25-2

Scored 44 batting first in 2013 CT final when wickets were falling around him in a 21 over contest.

Scored 54 in 2023 WC final.

Scored 85 vs Australia in 2025 CT semi-final.

Yeah I probably won't .. because it will be wasted on some of the dense indian fans on here.
Think of it as being about sensitivities, often developed over time due to personal experiences or individual mindset. I love watching Russell Peters with all his misogynistic and racial jokes and laugh my butt off, and all present or watching do that too, but can I do that in other settings? Hell no! Being emotionally and culturally intelligent is a good thing, don’t be sad or mad about it.

And then we wonder why india is constantly ranked as one of the most unsafe for women

This objectification of women is in the blood and DNA of many.

On the day we achieved our biggest world cup victory, the women are being body shamed. That's the mentality of our country

India constantly ranks

And it's not just india, it's entire south east asia
Yeah I probably won't .. because it will be wasted on some of the dense indian fans on here.
So, you both are blaming India :salute

Still not learned lesson. There was nothing funny or witty about your statement. That's not what humor is.

The audacity of making a cheap statment which nowadays even kids don't make and then calling people sense because they don't find it funny as dense.

Irony died a thousand deaths. It's the opposite, humor has become much more sofisticated and better, even school children don't find blanket bigoted statements funny

If India wins the final, there will more money in women's cricket. More money more opportunities. Hopefully we cross the line this time after being losing finalists in 2005 & 2017 WWC's.

@Nikhil_cric india should Play Sneha rana instead Radha Yadav. We are batting with a batsman Short.

Shafali
Smirti
Jemimah
Harmanpreet
Deepti
Richa
Amanjoth
Sneha rana
Kranti
Charani
Renuka

This should be playing eleven woth batting depth till 8.

Pratika was doing fine.. Her injury is a big let down

Yes she is consistent scorer although play with low strike rate and doens't have power game to catchup later .

but if shefali play 10-14 overs means she will gave india great start as she is very dynamic player.

Hopefully we will not bottled this World cup like 2017 World Cup final where we didn't scored 45 in last 7 over with 7 wickets in the hand.

I think Pratika is the better batswoman compared to Shefali and Harleen
.

Need more firepower in the lower order though. Saffers have the likes of nadine

India's inform opening batsman was not played in semis....

India. Fielding was average in semis, also they gave 35 extras..

Despite all odds, they beat mighty Australians... but now don't be complacent because South Africa also playing good cricket, especially their captains is batting superbly

Indians are reporting that we’re less than 24 hours away from the Final of the Women’s ODI World Cup, and yet there’s no official word regarding ticket availability.

It means all are done unofficially for the privileged tier.typical desi culture.they won't let genuine fans to view the experience and feel the emotion.afterwards they will cry there is not much support when team was struggling in the finals.
