Worcestershire v Pakistanis | Tour Match | Worcester | Jul 29-30, 2016 | Match Thread

Now that Sami is out, reminds me of that joke where the guy said to his friend after seeing a bear that all he needs to do is outrun him ....

Lost interest!!! FTB and minnow basher Azhar on. He will score 100 in this meaningless game and choke in the main match as usual

Shan Masood and Sami Aslam have provided the ultimate demonstration of why Babar Azam should partner Hafeez!

Minnow Basher in boys !!

I expect nothing less than a hundred here by Ajju only to miserably fail when it will eventually matter.

I think the team management told them to bat for 90 overs. Imo both should not play the next test match.

So where is everyone?? What happened to the most talented openers :))) seriously this is sickening, why the Hell can't we find a pair of decent openers out of 18crore population
Shehzad must be laughing his *** out!! He'll be back soon,

Azhar will play at SR OF 90 and score a 100 against Worcestershire.

A not-stupid umar akmal could have been a good opener. Really sick of these half hearted players.

he should be thanking god, he missed this tour or else his out of all formats only merited place in tests would have been questioned

The worst possible outcome for you - and best for England - is Shan Masood scoring runs against these kids and securing his place in the Test team.

Shehzad is NOT COMING BACK anytime soon.

Make your peace with it !!

He is not being groomed to play as an opener.

I just said he needs to be drafted in sooner rather than later, nothing about whether he should open or not.

But even if he is not being groomed to play as an opener, he has done so throughout his career, so I have no doubt that if he did open he would do a better job than what we currently have.

Well duh! Atleast his ego could've been demolished through that, but now he'll be back for West Indies tour to UAE and will score heavily on UAE phattas!

i will back shaan, he hasnt played any worse than azhar and younis... moreover he is a workhorse who constantly improves his technique...give him time he will come good...

Jimmy Anderson has removed him six times for a total of 15 runs.

What do you think will happen at Edgbaston?

So now after one and first innings people are saying like Sami is the most rubbish player :))

You won't get Tendulkar since day one guys, have some patience.

hehehehehehe!!!!!! he would have nicked andy to the slips atleast 5 times if u give chances one after another..

Surely could have beeen better than shan masood , can't even score in domestics. I don't know why players are picked based on what their dads do.

inzi is not a wrist slitter.. and he is not gonna take UA n AS atleast for a year i believe.. hopefully their ego is crushed to pieces by then...

Spot on, that's why i want him to fail against these kids. Otherwise knowing the mentality of our captain and management, they would love to pick Shaan for an other fail game.

He is not rubbish but most of us are disappointed by his approach , this is the kind of approach we are producing weak and dull player one after another.

Kid took lots of pressure on him, it's also the fault of management. They made him to realize that this one tour game will decide his future, which is totally stupid. Btw, he played some beautiful cover drives :) On the basis of this, i will prefer him over Commando :))

Till when?? Just as we gave shezzy 75 odis  or more like when our test team is also down the drain 8,9th ranking and then we'll realize we've wasted several years with these pathetic batsmen, by the way this time isnt far away Azhar is the new TEST CAPTAIN :))) even if he has Australia if their prime he'll even led them down the drain

There was a suggestion to play him alongside Hafeez in the post you responded to.... For Pak A, he played in the middle order so I don't expect him to be given opener responsibilities in Tests. He plays in the middle order in the ODI team as well and I expect him to replace YK or Misbah in tests when they retire.

Not sure why you want him to fail as there is no worthy replacement in the team. Sami from what we saw today is not the answer.

Pressure is a huge part of international games , when you are in the middle you should only think about scoring and forget about the consequences.

So the minnow Basher isn't even scoring in this game :)) - Striking at 30 a piece against these kids is just  worthy

Responded to saying he should be drafted in, not saying he should be our opener.

Anyhow, yes he will come in as a middle order player (when he does get called up) and yes I believe that's the best way to utilise him.

The conservatism comes from Misbah, not Mickey Arthur.

Misbah doesn't see it, but by repeating his South African error and blindly sticking with failing batsmen he is bringing his career to an end.

If the batting is left untouched and they persist with only three quicks they will lose the last two Tests. The toss will determine whether those losses are narrow or humiliating.

Misbah's unchanging team selections are therefore becoming his suicide note. If his batsmen let him down again - and I believe that Hafeez, Masood, Azhar and late-Younis are actually already performing to their maximum potential - then Misbah will retire at The Oval in 15 or 16 days from now.

It's potentially that close, especially if his own batting tails off.

I think that Mickey Arthur is playing a very smart game. He knows how conservative and excessively loyal Misbah is. He is letting Hafeez, Masood and Younis destroy their own Test futures while waiting for Misbah's poor decision-making to wind up his own career. Mickey Arthur potentially finds himself 17 days from now with the all-powerful skipper gone and the worst batsmen having ended their own careers.

Yes OK but his List A average is much better than his F/C average. To make the test team, he has to show he can convert his starts into big hundreds. So far that has not been the case. He only has 2 hundreds in F/C as opposed to 8 in List A but then he has played more Limited overs cricket.

Steyn removed hafeez 15 times, is he finished and removed, but still playing now. pak doesnt have tendus, kohlis waiting in domestics to take over.. So far shaan has played better compared to Alex Hales who is playing in his own den..I will still back Shaan for the future...Everyone knows Shaan is workable to fine tune his batting while Shehzad is not.. IMO will take Shaan on anyday..

There is some merit to most of your points.

Except for the fact that Anderson has reduced Masood to a nervous, gibbering wreck who doesn't move his feet. He has dismantled his technique, and Masood should currently be unselectable.

For Shehzad and UA are a bit overkill in the no. of games they played.. shehzad had a good 2013 year then from mid 2014 he is terrible and very quiet (excluding tests) UA last played an ODI was the WC2015 QF.. if u see his record for last 2 years from then he avg 26 including the century against AFG...

if azhar ali fails can we have sami aslam in at no.3 for his lovely cover drives today... how do u rate this move?

England did what Steve Waugh called mental disintegration on Pakistan.

I don't see Pakistan recovering in the next 2 tests. Not with this entire lot playing again.

Why is UAEnis Khan being treated as an automatic selection..egostic jumping jack

Keep scoring against the third string county attacks and keep failing against the england side.

so far shan masood against the poor county attacks , 173@ 57 average

against england 71 @ 17.75 average.

Azhar ali against counties 296@ 148 average

against england 39 @ 9.75 average.

pakistan should have played their practice games against their A side instead.

Pakistan's bad luck that shan masood is scoring.

Out of the top four batsman

Mat Inns NO Runs HS Avg
Hafeez 2 4 0 100 42 25
Younis 2 4 0 87 33 21.75
Shaan 2 4 0 71 39 17.75
Azhar 2 4 0 39 23 9.75

Azhar ali is unselectable first before shaan i reckon.

the thing is if they play shan, he fails. he is out of team.
but i dont want to lose next test for that reason.

Looks like Shan will get another chance - he may not be the most gifted player but he will 110% and I reckon he will do well at Edgbaston; he'll get an unreal amount of hate should he fail though on this very website :') :')

Azhar should either open or sit on bench and Hafeez shouldnt play unless he is available to bowl

ahmedwaqas92 congrats!!! Shaani has cemented his place for next 3 tours :))

never agree with Sami Aslam's selection as 3rd opener for tests and he is proving me right

I feel sorry for Sami Aslam. The first chance he is getting to hold a bat since he landed at England and it's a batting audition shootout between him and Masood for the Birmingham test. Even if he wins this one, it's going to be difficult at Edgbaston and people are going to be calling for his head if he fails there.

This.

Misbah, Mickey and Inzi to blame. Pathetic stuff by these three. Even my 2 year old knows Shan is rubbish and they gave all practice matches to him.

If Sami fails, brace yourself for mass wrist slitting and attack threads. Typical meltdown here.

Someones been watching too much Game of thrones

Simply appalling batting this. I think they want to bat through to day 2.

Do they not realise the bowlers need a bowl too?!
