Seems sa and eng are in a tough spot .they both have tough opponents home and away .India's young team will decide their chances and its shows how well they are coming up.Aus may find going tough after retirements in next ashes.they have tough away tours of sa and India.pak have easy route but not sure how much appetite they have. All thr touring teams have good spinners so industrial fans technology may not be good this time.nz have 4 matches in aus .it's very tough for this time .

World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle commences with Sri Lanka-Bangladesh and England-India series

Fresh from South Africa becoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 winners, the next cycle begins in earnest with a string of high-profile series kicking off proceedings.

Sri Lanka’s two-Test series at home against Bangladesh, which begins on 17 June, is the first contest of the 2025-27 cycle and soon overlaps with a five-Test showdown between England and India.

The two teams will go head-to-head at Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford and The Oval in the coming weeks.

Beaten finalists Australia begin their bid to regain their WTC crown in the Caribbean as they take on West Indies in a three-Test series for the right to lift the Frank Worrell Trophy.

As per the previous cycles, nine teams will contest the WTC and each nation will play six other sides – three home and three away – over the course of the two-year period.

Australia play 11 matches at home – including an Ashes series against England later this year and four Tests against New Zealand – and the same number away.

England play 11 Tests on their own turf and 10 on the road, visiting beaten WTC Final 2025 finalists South Africa for a three-Test tour in December 2026.

India will play 18 matches in this cycle, split evenly home and away, with 2021 champions New Zealand playing in 16.

The points percentage system used in the previous two editions will determine the leaderboard with teams getting 12 points for a win, six for a tie and four for a draw.

ICC Chair, Mr. Jay Shah, is looking forward to the next instalment of the WTC and wished players all the best ahead of the new cycle.

Mr. Shah said: “The third edition of the World Test Championship came to a fantastic conclusion at Lord’s as Australia and South Africa played out a classic encounter and we now look forward to the next instalment.

“This Championship continues to invigorate Test match cricket, and four of the nine competing nations have now reached a Final over the first three cycles.

“Bringing context for players and fans, as well as a high level of competitiveness, is key and the big turnout out at Lord’s – as well as the viewership levels across the globe – for the Final is testimony to the continued popularity of Test cricket.

“I would like to thank the Member Boards for their continued support of this exciting concept and wish the players all the very best as they begin their journey towards the next Final in 2027.”

New WTC begins. First series is BD vs SL.

Last WTC was very good in terms of quality. I enjoyed it.

So, Ind play 5 tests in Eng. Then Eng play 5 tests in Aus. Then Aus play 5 tests in Ind. That takes care of everything.

These 3 and the ICC could not care less about the rest. The rest are left to their 2 test "series". Unless one of the aforementioned 3 are involved.

It seems fine.

I don't look at any of those series and think of I wish this was 5 tests.

Perhaps Australia and South Africa but even that is with past nostalgia.

Pakistan has such an easy route but will botch it.
Bro i have a good feeling about this wtc for pakistan i know people are saying spin pitches are lottery if you have to bat second on spinning pitch you are done but i think this is pakistan best chance to do pakistan still is a better team of spin than sena teams we all know how harry brook and joe root got exposed by sajid and noman pakistan has to take this gamble and be prepared for spinning pitches this is their best bet how they beat england after loosing the first test and won the series with spinning pitches was remarkable.

I expect to see South Africa in the final again.

They have a top quality Test team currently.

Joe root is > any Pakistani test batsmen in history with only Younis Khan and Javed Miandad being superior.

However Root is literally 10 good test matches Vs india and Australia away from reaching and even surpassing Sachin and Steve Smith tier.

Root's main issue is a poor record in Aus, A poor conversion rate and an avg hovering at 50.

A good series vs Eng and Aus can easily raise his avg, improve his conversion rate and fix that record vs Aus.

You dont become a Test Atg if you are poor against spin. Those doctored pitches would have butchered Sachin, Steve smith and frankly anyone.

Pakistan outperformed root because saqib is a god awful spinner and England didnt prepare actual spinners. Even a spinner like satner would run day lights against someone like viv, Ponting, Lara, sachin etc etc on those pitches.

It's extremely naive to think that pakistan current crop are > Joe root when it comes to playing spin in test cricket.

Root is literally 10 matches away from becoming possibly the greatest test match batsmen post Bradman. Even if he has a poor series, he will still be a tier 3 test batter aka 2 tier below sachin and Steve smith and 1 tier below Ponting, Dravid, Younis and a few others.

But he will still be massively > the likes of inzimam, Sehwag, Sangakara, Williamson, Hayden etc etc.

Pakistan current crop aren't even Tier 20 batsmen atm including overrated Saud who is decent in asia but a bunny in any country not named Sri Lanka and pakistan.
