The question is simple would you have chosen Pakistani, Indian or whatever your nationality is for that matter if you had a choice?

For me yes definitely, Proud to be a Pakistani :salute

In a heartbeat.

Pakistan offers dual citizenship anyways so lots of people here would have a second passport.

And no matter how you try to paint the patriotic picture, a Pakistani passport is as useless as they come.

Its not because people don't want to be Pakistani.

It's more to do with the useless passport that you get by being ONLY A PAKISTANI.

Definitely, why would anybody want to be born in a third world country over an advanced Nation ? Opt for a below average life over a healthy lifestyle ?

Just fake Patriotism that account's for nothing in real life.

I have both but my Pakistani ID always feels fake to me because I have never really lived there. So I wouldn't vote in Pakistan elections even if I could on a technicality because it is seems like fraud and irrelevant to me.

I have an inferiority complex when it comes to this and I have often lied in the past claiming I was born in Pakistan when in fact I wasn't. :rondu

The only choice that matters is the choice to give your best and live a dignified, elegant life where ever you are, facing whatever odds.Troubles will find you anywhere, there is no escape as such. Only a delusion that fails us every day.

US, Canada , UK, Rest of the Western Europe, Sweden, Norway, Australia >>>>>>>> Any of the Desi Countries.

Definitely!!! hell yeaaaaaaaah!!!!! Who wants to live in this fake underdevelop country hopefully I will leave this country for good in future

Pretty happy with the combo I have right now, Pakistani and Canadian.

Don't think so.I'm extremely proud of my culture and consider myself lucky to be born in this land of Rajasthan. That said, I won't judge any one who chooses the other option. To each his own.

Western Europe or USA.

Though I am not that sad for being born in India, I would prefer to be born in a much advanced Nation.

Being patriotic is all fine. But I cannot simply ignore the overall pollution, over population and stink whenever I travel to India. I feel very angry sometimes that our founding fathers did nothing to curb population growth. As soon as I step out of the Airport in India, pollution, dirt, smell slaps my face and tells me that I am now in India even if I have my eyes closed.

All this being said, at least education was made a priority in India(South) and parents see that it is the only way to improve the standard and quality of life.

Sadly too many pakistanis have this view and it's the reason Pakistan is in the state its in

just nationality or race too ?
Ir race too then probably white since that just opens a hella lot more doors for you than any other race . Its sad but its the reality of our times.

this. being born into any western country but not white is still 2nd class citizen

Turkish...

I am South African but sadly we are the worlds most violent nation

Never in a million years. It'll always be that way. I'm proudly Pakistani and proudly a Pakistan passport holder.
You can call a Pakistani passport useless but that it is all I'm about. I love the "useless" Pakistani passport I have and I respect it more than my life.

The mighty land of Pakistan is in fact so beautiful and so productive that even if the passport was as "useless" as my fellow PP'ers hold it to be, I wouldn't mind not leaving Pakistan. :)

Blessed to have been born in Pakistan and not in a Utopian world of delusion and nonchalance where you're boarded on two ships at the same time, waiting for a storm to bring you down.

Proudly Pakistani.

I wish I was Turkish too. They have lighter skin than us and they are much more stronger. Also white people respect them more than us.

You do realise that those of us who don't live in Pakistan and have dual nationility have already made that choice (or our parents / grandparents did)?

I guarantee that if Pakistan, or the other country of which we are dual citizens of (the UK, US, Canada etc) ever decided that dual nationality was not permitted (just as India does not allow dual nationality), and the dual nationality holders were faced with the choice of keeping their Pakistani nationality but giving up their UK / US / Canadian citizenship, or keeping their UK / US/ Canadian citizenship but giving up their Pakistani citizenship, 99.999% will give up their Pakistani citizenship and retain their UK / US / Canadian citizenship.

I didn't say 100% because you will always get the odd multi-millionaire who wants to go back and become a politician in Pakistan, and perhaps run the country.

That's the harsh reality, isn't it.. No offense to anyone who's chosen to do otherwise, but I know that my family despite being from a middle class background chose to keep only their Pakistani passport despite having the chance to have a dual nationality with the UK. I'm not saying this in praise of my family but what I'm trying to say is, the 0.0001% people that you speak of are not necessarily affluent, multi-millionaires and aspiring politicians, but rather sometimes - and only sometimes - patriots. Blind patriots, you may call it but patriots nonetheless.

So you want to be Turkish so you can have whiter skin? You need some counselling my friend, to get rid of that inferiority complex. Failing that, you could try some of the stuff that Michael Jackson supposedly used to make his skin turn white. And also don't forget to dye your hair blonde, along with wearing coloured contact lenses ....... oh, you're doing that already?

There's a lot of light-skinned people in Pakistan too but come on man, in this day and age, you're still giving such emphasis to light skin?! People like you are the reason for so many insecure young girls in Pakistan because of their complexion.

As for strength, please, visit Tribal areas of KPK. Or the Pehlwaans of Punjab. Meet Mughals. Meet Shiddis in Balochistan and then you will know how much stronger Turks are.

Does your family live in the UK on a permanent basis, ie it is their 'home', or do they hope/expect to go back to Pakistan in the near future to live there on a permanent basis?

Furthermore, by deciding to forego the option of obtaining UK citizenship, did they take into account the benefits of having a UK passport that they were opting out of, eg visa free travel to virtually all of the Western countries (as compared with a Pakistani passport), the ability to go and live/work anywhere in the EU (until Brexit is finalised anyway)?

Forgive me for being a bit dubious about your statement, but perhaps by answering the questions above, you could provide further clarification?

My Father worked in Britain many years ago. All of colleagues applied for citizenship and were able to get it. My father never applied for citizenship because he was happy with his Pakistani passport. Perhaps however the Pakistani passport wasn't as bad as it is now.

Blonde color doesn't look good with brown skin. I use mehndi on my hair, it makes hairs look dark brown. Hazel lenses with dark brown hair looks great.

So your family doesn't live in the UK any more?

In that case my post doesn't apply to cases like yours. My post refers to those with dual nationality (Pakistani plus US/UK/Canadian etc) living outside Pakistan, and the fact that 99.999% will give up their Pakistani citizenship in order to retain their other dual citizenship if either the Pakistani govt. or the govt. of US/UK/Canada etc removed the right of having dual citizenship, and forcing you to choose between one or the other.

I would say Turkish. They are the kind of nation I would want Pakistan to be, a sort of modern Islamic society where you are accepted. Also, they have great culture and food.

Indian and proud to be Indian. I will never want to be of any other nationality

I have mixed feelings about this. No better place to live than in Kashmir.

Its beautiful, People are good and helpful and show amazing hospitality. Great culture and tradition. Poverty isn't that big of a problem either.

Unemployment is a big problem even More than other places in India and Pakistan i would think. There are very few industries and the private sector is more or less non-existant. Then there is the issue of it being disputed and all the ugly baggage that comes along with it.

If at least the dispute part is resolved, i would never even think about living anywhere else. No better place to live than Kashmir.

If I had a choice I would want half of Indians to be born in Pakistan, so that we can enjoy a less crowded India.

You cant have that choice unless you are responsible for producing all those people :yk otherwise you can decide for only yourself.

Are you from kashmir?

Nope because i wouldn't realize the importance of being part of a developed country then.If now one makes that decision like many desis I would realize the importance.

No way .
I have found it difficult to even relocate for a few years . Live in India and travel around the world .

To each his own, I'm British born and bred but in the throes of planning to move my family to Pakistan. Will mean giving up a 20 year career in local government (law) but I've developed a yearning to "go back home"

For better future I have to get out of here and I m from india (Jammu) I know it's not easy to settle in another country but hopefully I will be educated enough to find a better job over there.

I always thought you were Punjabi lol

I live in Jammu, Indian by nationality. I don't know about other countries but my many relatives r in Pakistan Sialkot. Our standard of living is far far better than our relatIves in Pakistan. So I'm happy in India it's is Comparetively safer than pak. But I wish to be born in the developed crime free country. May be Norway or New Zealand

I'm satisfied with the combination I have at the moment, but if someone put a gun to my head and forced me to chose a nationality I would chose post-Nazi era Germany.

Huge fan of the country and it's people. They are a small country population wise but their engineering prowess is world renowned and the country alone is carrying all of Europe on its back. The German people are also super hard working and have rebuilt their country from scratch TWICE. We haven't managed to do once in our seventy year history (moreso because even supposedly educated people don't have the right upbringing to not support corrupt people). The German football team also is a treat to watch with their efficient play and fluidity like a well oiled machine.

Really want to visit Germany someday and drive a fast Beamer on the AutoBahn without any speed limits.

What post Nazi Germany, Communist one or western one? But good choice, even Turks are not as white as them.

Had the pleasure of driving an audi in the autobahn. It was heaven...

I would suggest go on the Nurburgring , it's open to the public and people from all over Europe take their cars there, so you will see some nice motors. A great experience.

Nope.

I didn't ask to be Pakistani; I just got lucky.

Wouldn't change my nationality even if I had the chance to.

Mamoon disagrees though he says that we will never be accepted in England, but the irony is that I wonder how accepted we'd be in Pakistan :(

He's never experienced living in Birmingham then. But I see some point to what he said, when I visit Pakistsan they say you're British , when in Dubai they say you're Pakistani not British. It gets rather confusing but for them not us. :)

Same thing happens for me. In America, I am not considered a true American. I am called Pakistani. That is true. I am Pakistani; But when I go to Pakistan, they call me American and try to speak with me in English. I don't like this because I am Pakistani and I can speak Urdu.

Being American is great, but so is Pakistani. So I am Pakistani American; But this is a struggle all First-generation citizens have: the struggle of a national identity crisis.

a Turk probably because you get nice food and love Turkish history and culture. but happy being a British Pakistani.

Pretty happy with my Pakistani British combo.

Love Pakistan and all but thank the lord they allow dual nationality...traveling is close to impossible with it and it honestly is so much easier having a 'strong' 2nd one. Honestly couldnt imagine what i'd do if i had to give one for whatever reason
