A practice session was held at Calazys Stadium Cairns today. Yasir Shah got a back injury when bowling during the practise session. He is getting treatment from medical experts at Cairns. He has been advised two days rest by the doctors. He won't be able to participate in the warm up match to be held in Cairns.

Oh god no. Our bowling attack is Yasir or bust these days.

Which means we need Hafeez and Mohammad Asif more then ever

Right on cue, Mohammad Asif has just broken down the door.

WAPDA needed to dismiss SSGC's last three batsmen for fewer than 56 more runs today to reach the QEA Final.

And Asif took figures of 3-0-3-3 to do it.

Drain the swamp. Call him up!

Asif is more needed to show our Pakistan bowlers how to bowl than anything else. He can be a great mentor than Azhar mahmood..😭

He bowled 26 overs, 10 maidens and took 3 wickets at an astonishing economy of 1.57; his bowling partners have thoroughly enjoyed his support at the other end. And I said I wanted Asif more then ever without knowledge of his performance which you have posted just now, that's how much faith I have in Asif; even at 50% fitness I'd have him in the team over Imran, Rahat and Sohail; that is how much faith I have in his skill.

While anything can happen, I fear that he will not be selected. Also, there was nothing wrong with the recent comments he made but they do him no favours as far as selection is concerned so it has to be said that he is his own worst enemy. I believe that based on his recent domestic performances he has earned a call up but to really push that he needs an emphatic finish in the final! who knows, perhaps there's still a chance he will be called for the 2nd or 3rd Test in AUS.

Junaids.

Just think if the PCB had invested as much as they have in Amir with Asif the returns would be SIGNIFICANTLY better, Amir is the Virat Kohli of Pakistan  all hype no substance. But Asif is a magician who'd make Amir bowl a lot better  Asif, the man the myth the legend, I just love that guy what a damn shame, such a shame:srt:danish

I just checked the scoreboard, he bowled pretty economical yesterday as well. But today, he made it happen again. Amir was in the making, but Asif already was a Champion bowler back in 2010... Its interesting to see him bowl in a match that will be televised all over Pakistan (I believe WAPDA is in the final now)!!!

This is setback for Pakistan, Yasir is the most important test player for us in last 2 years. Back injury is also worry some, that takes longer to recover and can re-occur or career threatening. Is that because of hard grounds in AUS?

Hope this is not too bad inshaAllah,

Asif can make his way into the squad if he rips it up in the final.

Very disappointing. Now I have to watch boring Right Arm Offbreak bowlers and Left Arm Orthodox bowlers bowl dreadful spells of finer spin bowling.

Reports: Mohammad Asghar being called up as a back up to Yasir Shah

Just read around news that Mohammad Asghar is being called up as a back up to Yasir Shah, the Squad will now e a 17 man one

This is great news for the young spinner if true. Can't wait to see him in action

he was smashed left right and centre by Zimbabwe A he is atleast 3-4 years away from being test standard.

Following back injury to Yasir Shah, the team management had asked the selection committee to call Mohammad Asghar as a back up player for the three-Test match series against Australia commencing from December 15,2016 in Brisbane.

The national selection committee has concurred with this request and Chairman PCB has approved the name of Mohammad Asghar. He will join the team as 17th member.

Shadab would have been a better choice because he can turn it huge plus he is proper batter as well. Don't think Asghar will extract any fruitful stuff on Australian pitches.

May be for a session or two , for whole 2 innings of bowling it will take a miracle.

Doctor was discussing this during Last Test that people who have back issues history need to be on their feet constantly wrt their weight as it affects back. Yasir is 80 when he should be 67.

Hope he gets through this Test somehow since we are only playing 4 bowlers. In the long run he must reduce weight.

There is a lot of weight around his waist and his legs dont seem strong enough. Should lose weight and get strong
