Has anyone considered the fact that that article may have DRIVEN Ramdin to concentrate harder to get that century??

I like Batsman with Balls! Sir Viv. was in his right to criticize, Ramdin has balls to respond like this.
Carrib. people are very proud people, may sound cocky in some culture, but it's that special unique flair they bring in to sports, which makes them unique and enjoyable.
I am sure Ramdin doesn't mean to show any disrespect Viv, as Viv has God-Like status there! But it's like proving his Old Man wrong kind of attitude! It's like father always taunt his son, do something in your life! You haven't done anything in your life! And then Son replies with some accomplishment!
I would hope that Sir Viv don't hold any grudges against Ramdin, because after all this WI needs all support they can get from their elders, that invisible Side!
"I was only nineteen when I played in the 1988 Barbados Test match during the tour of West Indies. It was in this Test match that I realised I've got the pace to disturb the batsmen," he said.
"When only 45 minutes were left to go for close of play, Richards came out to bat. My skipper Imran Khan gave me the ball and asked me to have a go.
"I bowled a bouncer at Richards and his cap fell while avoiding it. I went up to him and abused him. I was very skinny at that time and he looked at me and said: 'I will see [you] out man.'"
Akram immediately went to Imran Khan and related the incident.
"Imran told me to go ahead and scare &. him. So I bowled another bouncer and his cap fell again and so I went up to him and with a lot of action, provoked him.
"Richards looked at me and spat to the side with contempt. That was a time when there were no match referees nor close up television," he said.
Khan asked Akram to bowl the last over of the day.
"I bowled a bouncer again and then returned to the dressing room. While removing my shoes, the room attendant said that someone is waiting for me outside the dressing room.
"When I went out, I saw Richards in only his pad and no shirt and with a bat in hand. I ran to Imran and told him about it, but he quietly said: 'it is better you handle him.' I was shocked and so I went and told Richards very politely that I am sorry for what happened & and [that] it won't happen again.
"Richards looked at me and said: "If it happens next time, I will kill you.
"It never happened again," said Akram
I'm surprised Viv didn't do to Ramdin what he did to Wasim bhai, LOL
Nice story. You to consider that Viv is 25 years older now. At his peak no one would be crazy enough to make Viv mad. No wonder even Imran Khan didn't interfere in that incident. In those days it would be crazy anyway to rile up any WI players given that their bowlers might literally kill you will bouncers
I never realized West Indies people wrote the way they speak.![]()
Viv Richards is not sacred! Yes, he is a legend of the game, and no one is criticizing that title.
Denesh Ramdin has every right to express himself. There is no question of disrespect here, just a guy saying what's in his heart. Better to let it all out than to bottle it up like Pakistan's cricketers, who are too scared to do so because they won't get away without a fine or ban from the board.
Again, Viv Richards is NOT sacred. If Ramdin gets fined, it will be a real shame. Cricket administrators need to know the difference between self-expression and violation of discipline.
I don't think "Ramdin having the right to express himself or not having the right" is the issue here.
Its about how his way of expression has made him look like an idiot.
Something he could have avoided had he not been narrow minded and classless.
Any talk about him getting fined is ridiculous as ofcourse he hasn't violated any rule whatsoever losely speaking.
How the heck is he narrow-minded and classless? Did he abuse Viv? Not everyone has the mental strength of a Tendulkar or a Dravid.
People express themselves in different ways. If he chose to do with a piece of paper, that's his way. You can't expect every international cricketer to be in alignment with your definition of "class."
Its my opinion that its an act of narrow mindedness and it was classless.
Again, its not about writing on piece of paper or speaking it out.
Its about that his this single century is hardly anything to cover up his 22 odd average which he has for years. His performance warranted criticism and he got that. Now if he wants to reply back, its his right. Although it will make him look like an idiot which imo it did.
And he doesn't understand this. This is where he's narrow minded.
Aakhir bharam kis cheez key dikha rahay hain janaab... baat yeh hai saari
Whenever Ramdin fails now, people will say -
''Yeh Ramdin Talk Nah''

West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin has been fined 20% of his match fee by the International Cricket Council for the way he celebrated his century on day four of the third Investec Test against England.
On completing just his second hundred at Edgbaston in 44 five-day matches, Ramdin held up a sheet of paper, which read: ‘Yeah Viv, Talk Nah’.
The move, thought to be a reaction to criticism Sir Viv Richards levelled at Ramdin last month, has found little favour with the ICC, who deemed the 27-year-old guilty of breaching their code of conduct.
He was charged this morning with a Level 1 offence, contrary to clause 2.1.8 (a), which relates to "conduct contrary to the spirit of the game".
There was no need for a formal hearing, however, with Ramdin pleading guilty to the charge and accepting the punishment

An idiotic thing to do - insulting king viv of all people.
Can you imagine a Pakistani player doing this ?
Farhat scores a century and then says 'Yeh PakPassion Talk Nah'![]()
you talk like he is god or something![]()

Exactly, Ramdin was well within in his rights to reply to Viv's criticism . Some people here need to realize that just cause Viv is a legend , it doesn't make him untouchable.
It's a matter of taste though I guess. could he not have waited till after the day's play; certainly someone would've interviewed him!
can you imagine any Indian player saying that about Sachin (not that Sachin will go the Viv way!)
there will be protests in India)

or Imran??![]()
Both dudes went a bit over the top.
Although Ramdin's action will have a lot more consequences.
just imagining every pakistani player waving poster like that with name of amir sohail, sarfraz nawaz, abdul qadir, rashid latif, basit ali, ramiz raja, waqar younus etc etc etc LOL
There is an uneasy history between players of Indian origin and sir Vivian Richards, after he made hurtfull comments about 'being proud of leading an all Black west indies team' in the early 80's, when there were no players of Indian origin in the side.
If i am not wrong Viv criticized him two days before the Edgbaston test, so this was Ramdin first inning after Viv's criticism of himwait so he obviously wrote this before hand and had it in his pocket to be shown at the right moment...that paper must be really really old then
Ramdin is the one to talk haha...the guy had so many opportunity and failed to prove over and over again.. One lame century won't cut it Denesh...you're no where close to spitting distance of Viv

Ramdin fined: Talk Na Ramdin
deserved to get fined...
kalicharan?
There is no basis to this statement.Caribbeans of Asian descent have never taken kindly to Viv![]()

There is no basis to this statement.
This has been a long held allegation against Viv Richards' captaincy. Despite making up about a fifth of the Caribbean population, there were no Indo-Caribbean players for WI from 1982 until Shiv Chanderpaul's debut.
The Indo-Caribbean community had a fraught relationship with the wider West Indies. When India toured venues like Trinidad and Guyana where the largest Indo-Caribbean populations are found, it wasn't uncommon for them to receive cheers. Apparently they were cheered when they chased 400 at Queens Park Oval in 1976 vs WI.
Unfortunately ethnic stereotypes that Indo-Caribbeans were weak, veggie eating, not built for fast bowling etc were sometimes aired, that somehow Indo-Caribbean cricketers didn't fit Viv's vision of a WI team flying the flag of black nationalism.
Again, I don't know how true these whispers are. Viv had a relationship with an Indian actor Neena Gupta, and has an Indo-Caribbean daughter.
