When Babar Azam is your best batsman, Hassan Ali is your best bowler, Fakhar Zaman is your biggest match-winner, Yasir is your specialist spinner, and Sarfraz is your captain.
Don't think this is applicable to today's team.
2015's wc team would be a lot more suited to this joke.
Misbah your best batsman. Wahab riaz your best bowler. There isn't a match winner in that team. Yasir shah is still your specialist spinner. Misbah is your captain.
See... a whole lot worse.
You can't even win a warmup game against a low ranked team! )
When you have to get ur calendar out to find out which year pak last actually won a game of cricket!
When, a day after losing to Afghanistan, some Pakistani fans are doing bhangra because our rivals lost to a World Class team in a pointless warm-up match. Embarrasing, tbh. Mamoon, you were so right about Pakistan
We could have possibly learnt it from our indian friends, who used to do this throughout the 90s.This has been our story for a number of years now. We have been reduced to running our mouths against superior teams and seeking solace in their defeats.
Lost The wc warmup Against Tasmania in 1992 but then we all know what happened...
Funny thing is things weren't even that bad when this thread was created
The reason for their bad run was losing waqer younis to injury. People here are too young to have seen waqar in his prime, before his injuries. He was no 1. bowler in the world rankings iirc and i can honestly say the greatest bowler ive ever seen. That team dominated before the World Cup shaz619
They just went through a bad patch just before the '92 World Cup and during it.
I remember it being bad. We were such a bad team. It's just that after 9 years, it seems like it was a lot better than it actually was.

It's a very popular myth that Pakistan were a weak team heading into the 1992 tournament but people couldn't be more wrong. Their journey for sure could have been more smooth during the tournament itself but had Pakistan obliterated their way to a World Cup triumph there would be no surprises. Pakistan was arguably the best team in the world at that time if not in the top 2 at the very least with Australia being the only team to better their W/L ratio over five years coming into the WC.
In the 1989 Nehru cup Pakistan beat the likes of India, England and then the West Indies in the final after Imran's heroics with the ball. Moreover they won 5 tournaments in Sharjah prior to the 92 WC and lost just 2 series at home over a 5 year period to England and the West Indies. It's funny how the 1992 performance almost always is used as a metric to give poor Pakistani teams a prayer, but the fact is that side was absolute quality and a well oiled machine despite their horrid start, it further cements their strength/depth that even after falling behind they were able to catch up.
The current team is not entering the 2019 WC as one of the best teams in the world unlike Imran's cornered tigers of 1992, in-fact they are one of the worst Pakistani sides to enter a World Cup based on form alone so I think people need to adjust their expectations which are not realistic and don't really help the team. But there is enough quality to work with for the future and we should enjoy this tournament regardless
When you’re seeing this thread get bumped way too often.
Exactly, as I had been saying a few days ago:
Beyond that, it's also worth pointing out we won 8 out of 10 ODI series prior to the 92 WC. Of the two defeats, one was to the West Indies and the other was a World Series defeat in Australia but we had reached the tournament final
When it looks like your drive to the ground will be longer than Pakistan's innings.
My journey to the ground was 125 mins
Pakistan's innings was 111 mins
When you have lost 11 matches in a row and the coach and captain are still backed by fans
When you have lost 11 matches in a row and the coach and captain are still backed by fans
When you are planning for Eng and WI came out of syllabus
So you want people to be glory hunters?
Yeah we backed them till the worldcup is over for pak.We are not" fickle fan "like you who is already doing fantastic job
I’m not a fan, not at least since the 2003 World Cup when the true world class players like Wasim, Waqar, Anwar, etc left. Since then Pakistan has been a punching bag for elite teams.
Anyone supporting this team is just wasting their time.
practice what you Preach .Why are you following pakistan cricket if that is the case

He has a lot of time to waste.
...when you leave a 50 average batsmen home and send a bowler with a 50 average by mistake
...when Ponting is rating Shoaib Malik
...when Katich is ripping through your middle order
...when your captain asks public not to expect miracles
When Mamoon and I start talking about BBQ tonight in the match thread
Ooh do you guys live in Carrolton? Love that place!
When a thrashing at the hands of BD await you.
