Younis Khan - 10,000 Test Runs [Ultimate Countdown Thread]

He deserves a double hundred in the Game.. probably the last chance he will ever get :(

Unfortunately he couldn't get there in the first innings but there is still a second innings. Remained 175*

38 More Runs till YK reaches 10'000 Test Match Runs!

deserves it in this series and at such a ground with decent crowd

Scored a double century in England at the age of 42 years and 8 months. Scored 175* in Australia at the age if 43 years and 1 month. Could have scored another double ton if tail gave better support. Sher Khan was missed.

For Batsman who have played 100 plus Tests only 3 batsman average more than him.

Needs another masterclass in the last innings to draw this game.

I've been advocating this fact for months! this man past his prime is still managing to perform well enough but it is conveniently ignored because it would contradict their narrow minded UAE Khan rubbish because Younis has performed in all conditions (also just imagine how well he'd have performed if he had toured away from home at his peak but his record as it stands in said countries are not bad as people would have you believe despite that) and has been a big match winner for Pakistan, admittedly he isn't as consistent as he use to be yet DESPITE that he is still world class! In addition, Khan is an immense match winner as your stats show; also, in the 7 away wins he has been involved in since he made his debut Khan averages 114 across 5 of those wins in New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies and England. This performance in AUS past his prime should leave absolute no doubt that he is an ATG

When exactly do you think his prime was?

Agree. Shoaib Akhtar said yesterday that Younis Khan used to score big after every 2 innings, now at his age he takes 4 innings but is still your 2nd best Batsman that too considering that Azhar had his peak year with great numbers.

His average difference between matches won by Pakistan and matches lost by Pakistan is around 30. This is superior than all the ATG's of last 30-40 years.

Again limited skillset but massive contributions and massive achievements as a Test player.

Hope he scores two big hundreds this series so he ends with a better batting average than Tendulker, Dravid and Gavasker, with equal or more centuries than the latter two as well.

A final trolling of India by a Pakistani icon. :yk2

LOL that would be awesome.

Honestly, I'd rank YK and the very, very underrated, record breaking, run feasting Yousuf higher than Dravid and Gavaskar.

Tendy however, is just in a league with the true upper crust of Ponting, Lara and Viv.

edit: Just had a quick look at those guys and the runs per test that they scored:

Inzy: 73.6
Yousuf: 83.7
YK: 86.8

Dravid: 81.0
Gavaskar: 81.0
Tendulkar: 79.7

So YK is at the top and by a considerable margin with the mighty Yousuf next.

Yousuf is underrated because apart from England, he didn't do much overseas but he's still a great batsman regardless. In the league of Mahela, KP, de Villiers. Inzamam is there too.

Younis Khan is a bonafide ATG and as great as any.

Doesn't he have a century everywhere apart from SA? Averages can be quite deceptive for the cricinfo afficianados but for those of us who actually watchedh im, he always looked elegant but sadly often had to bat in a team where the openers were non existent.

YK does have the superior numbers though and I won't argue too much on who is better because they're both great.

This thread is just embarrassing when a real team man, AB De Villiers, has said that 10,000 runs means absolutely nothing compared with seeing his team win.

Like Sachin's bogus landmark of "100 international centuries" this is just a meaningless self-centred target.

Younis has an average of 53. That means something.

Ten thousand runs is just a pathetic selfish landmark, like Warren Beaty or Jack Nicholson are notorious for.

I've been a Yuni and Misbah hater for a while, but it is an undeniable fact that both of them leaving will create a MASSIVE hole in our batting lineup. Our rankings may even fall further.

Are you saying that Usman Salauddin or Haris Sohail or even Umar Akmal are not capable of scoring 8 away Test fifties in 44 attempts? Which is all Misbah and Younis have contributed outside Asia in the last five years.

Lets talk in your Manchester tongue :yk2 forget about the last five years will they be capable of matching the prime Khan up until 2009 whom you deem an all time great?! lets forget that, assuming they come in; in these 44 attempts are they capable of smashing a double hundred to single handedly win an away Test in England?

The fact is, with these two gone the batsman they've left behind are Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq. The other names you mention will no doubt come into the team now so you should be happy about that instead of whining grandma :)) and speaking of the 10K record it does mean something to a Pakistani as there are 0 batsman to have achieved such a feat! like you would care about that, until 2016 not a single English batsman had managed to get there :yk2 #SourJunaids #TypicalLancashireLass

Junaids I think you are just really annoyed that you can't complain about Younis and Misbah ul Haq hogging the spotlight anymore :))) oh no, order in the junaids mind needs to be restored. I mean you can still have a dig at Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli for their soft runs so all is not too bad fella!

I think, they are definitely capable of scoring more runs, 50s & even 100s - there can be few others as well. But, not sure if any of them are capable of winning 5 of the 7 Tests that PAK won in last 5 years out side UAE - that's also this pair's contribution.

As I said in another post, which you must have read - these 2 are leaving, let them leave in peace. If they wished, could have played for another couple of years; YK definitely, may be Misbah as well, which they didn't - kudos to them.

But yes, 10K or 12K or 20K is just a milestone - a factor of how many matches your country plays, like Anderson might end up taking more Test wickets than McGrath.

Yousuf was comfortably a better batsman than Younis. The man lacked character and wasted 5-6 years, otherwise every single Pakistani batting record in both ODIs and Tests would have been his. Credit goes to Younis for punching above his weight and showing tremendous work ethic, but there is no denying that he is an inferior batsman to his contemporaries Inzamam and Yousuf.

Yousuf could have been better if was half as mentally good as younis khan. Yousuf didnt play a single innings like what younis played against england in the last test match and nothing to match his 170 something against srilanka while chasing. Yousuf was pleasing on eyes but faltered almost every time when the heat was on

What character problems? I remember the time when he was sort of in and out of Pak teams but I can't remember why.

Asfor Yousuf v YK...Yousuf was the more beautiful batsman whereas YK has racked up exceptional numbers but also looks great when in full flow. Yousuf is obviously the superior ODI batsman though so if we're looking at it in the netirety of their careers, I would rank Yousuf and inzy above YK but only in tests Inzy doesn't feature with the other two imo.

But I wouldn't argue much either way.

He should reach that milestone in next few days

It'd be hilarious if he fails the next 6 innings and has to come out of retirement to get 10k.

This is Younis Khan, so you never know.. But he looks extremely sure that he's going to retire regardless of how well or poor he performs in this series. Just seems so adamant about it. I feel like he's realized his ATG status could be at stake and could end up something like Jayawardene.

A few months ago he wanted the captaincy and said that he had it in him to play for another 3-4 years but I'm glad he's walked into the reality.

Younis Khan should troll his haters by having a fantastic series in the West Indies and then saying that he will continue playing until the end of the year. Need to target that 40 test centuries milestone.

You will have to wait a bit as Pakistan is bowling is first.

Thanks for the update brother, I shall go to bed. Younis Khan is the only individual worth tuning in for, the last of a DYING BREED; the GOAT. When he retires, a big chunk of Pakistan cricket will die for me. #EndOfAnEra

Younis Khan will do what king of soft runs like Yousuf could never do. He has sealed his place as the best test batsman Pakistan has ever produced. What a champion!

He'll be getting there tomorrow buddy. Make sure the alarm is in place. :afridi

Am arranging a party at my house, going to eat loads of fried food, plenty of lovely ladies will be attending who also happen to be Younis Khan fans (mostly Aussie, the Brit ones don't like their cricket as much), there will be Younis Khan baloons everywhere and his posters. Have ordered a cake with his beautiful smile on it as he lifts the World T20 and the night shall end with fireworks! what the great man deserves  #GOAT
Red Devil and SD how will you guys be celebrating the end of a glorious career? it will be a sad day but Younis will want us all to smile and revel in his greatness!!

I'm obviously gonna celebrate by coming to your house... surprised no invitation has been made yet by the Bear!

What should I do to get you to invite me? Should a man like me shoot myself? :yk2

All you need to do is create a big fuss in the british media and point out your outrage of not receiving an invite being a huge fan of Khan and then give haters like Mamoon a couple of slaps to sort them straight,

giphy.gif

then brother I will welcome you with opens arms and treat you like the king you've always been!

By the time I'm done all that YK will probably even surpass the overrated FTB Sachin's run tally :srt :sachin

Have heard of the nervous 90s... but what about the nervous 10ks?

Think applies more to us cricket fans than YK himself although he is taking his time about it!

Anyone else nervous?

TEA..... yaaaaaaaaaaah
our breakfast time approaching and they take the tea... wat the hell

The second ATG Pakistani batsman is only a single away from 10,000 runs. Rubbished 10,000 criticisms from his pathetic critics along the way. Champion batsman and I for one am hoping that carries on for another year, even if we have to give him the captaincy.

There we have it 10'000 Test runs for the Legend first Pakistani to ever do so! And he gets there with a sweep!

Simply Amazing what an accomplishment!

He's done it!!! :14: shaz619

Mubarak bro, let this sink in; we are the first pakistani fan generation to witness this monumental feat, we were there when legendary Younis KING Khan became the first Pakistani Batsman to cross the magical barrier
