What have Shehzad, Haris and Umar done to be in this squad? Fair enough Umar has played one brilliant knock and another decent one but he hasn't had an excellent PSL. This is coming from a guy who rates both Umar and Haris highly. Shehzad has just played 2 soft knocks in which he was out scored by arguably the worst Limited Overs batsman ever (Shafiq) in one of them.

Have we seen enough of Hussain Talat and Khushdil Shah to know whether they're ready for international cricket? Other than that I agree with all the selections, (even though Shahzaib looks like a hack most of the time I've seen him bat).
 
Baed on PSL Mohammad Sami and Mohammad Irfan will find their place but ofcourse the squad won' be based on PSL.

Based on PSL, how can you go for Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal

Replace
1) Shahzad with M Hafeez,
2) Shadab Khan/ M.Asghar with M.Nawaz
3) Fakhar Zaman with Sharjeel Khan
4) Also need a replacement for Khalid Latif in T-20's

and why Irfan Junior? Go for hassan Khan who is a million times better.

senior player only Malik has done well so far...and azhar ali had a decent series against WI and only played 2 matches against AUS...so cannot drop him as he has quit the captaincy, didnt get a match to play in the PSL...

next is to see players who are in the side already and how they fared in the PSL

HAFEEZ- terrible
UA - one good knock still didn't stay til the end to win it, other than still terrible
NAWAZ - a bad PSL as HASSAN khan has performed better than him both with bat and ball

YOUNGER players who made the headlines in this PSL, in their pecking order below

We have to convert U Akmal into an opener to get the maximum utility out of him. Wasted at 6 and atleast he won't have his excuse of not getting enough overs. Let him open for 2 series, let his inner Rohit Sharma come to the fore or expel him forever :uakmal

Umar as a lower order hitter.. haris because he is Haris..
Shehzad frankly we are out of options.. and he had a good domestic LO season..

So what has Hussain Talat done to get into the team?

Are we basing national selection on one performance?

What has Harris Sohail done after his come back? Yes, in 2015 when he got injured, he had a place in the team . . a year and a half later, with unconvincing PSL performances, how can he walk straight back into the team? (I am a big Harris Sohail fan) . . but he needs to score runs in domestic before he can claim a spot back!

Shadab Khan has been performing well in under 19, Pakistan A and now PSL . . so I think he is the only one from this PSL that deserves a go in the national team . . The rest are talented, no doubt! but need to perform more to claim a spot . .

My XI will be:

1.) Ahmed Shehzad / Fakhar Zaman
2.) Kamran Akmal / Umar Akmal (Any 2 of the 4)
3.) Babar
4.) Shoaib Malik
5.) Sarfaraz
6.) Imad (this is the position that Pakistan has no good enough batsman for . . this position is for a batting alrounder and we don't have any decent ones . . we only have bowling alrounders . . but Imad has proved he can play with a straight bat and isn't a slogger)
7.) Shadab
8.) Amir Yamin
9.) Mo Amir
10.) Hasan Ali
11.) Wahab / Sohail
 
Afridi makes the team based on PSL

Also LOL. You ask for a squad based on PSL then go and pick Haris, Umar and Shehzad
 
Why is Mohammad Amir "almost" in every team when the team was supposed to based on PSL performances.
 
What's the point of making a team entirely based on PSL? So everytime PSL happens, we revamp our team completely?

The fixture list this year is fairly kind (no disrespect to WI, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka) so its an ideal opportunity to introduce some youngsters.

What you could do is play both Shah and Talat (or any other talented youngster) in the Emerging Teams Cup next month. Then re-assess them after the Pentangular Cup in May.

If they perform in both tournaments, then I'd give them their Pakistan caps in the Bangladesh tour in the summer.

What happened to Shazaib Hasan? I saw him play one match where he started quite promisingly then he disappeared from the team altogether. I think he should definitely be considered again for the T20 format.

Shadab Khan is also an obvious pick, very promising all rounder.

Of the bowlers, the TTF's look the best bet. Sohail Khan has looked the best pace bowler by a distance, and Irfan probably the next best.

/ Kamran Akmal: Too old but can be considered because he is the one who is scoring but only as batsman
Ahmed Shehzad: Needs to keep his mind on track. Not scoring
Babar Azam: Going well and will be the part of team
Sarfaraz Ahmed: off course he is the captain and no one eliminate him right now
H.Talat: Looks promising and have shorts in his Armour
/ Harris Sohail: Didn't play too much but his past record is good. Needs to perform in domestic
Shoaib Malik: He has got something in the board and can't be eliminated
/ Umar Akmal: A dead investment
Imad Wasim: Doing well in internationals

I think he has improved his off-side game and was playing some cracking shots through there in PSL,Also people used to call Sharjeel a leg-side hack before he turned his game to both sides during recent series,so we can hope Fakhar does the same with his game.

Umar's mental game not good for lower order but dont know where to slot him .. may be as opener as he is good against pace bowling and can play aerial shots too to use powerplay..
 
The only thing i'm certain of is that Shadab and Fakhar definitely need to be in the ODI team. As far as international experience goes West Indies shouldn't be much of a test. They shouldn't be expected to perform immediately, but that exposure and the opportunity to work with the first team will be vital for their future development.

Please don't waste a spot with Hafeez or Asad Shafiq. A failure from trying a raw player is much more acceptable than recycling a TTF.

M Amir for what reason? its been 16 months now and he is a flop. Doesnt deserve a place in the team, just living on his name

I guess so, not many hard series' coming up and it would be a good time to try out young players.

Rumman Raees has good season of PSL1 and remarkabel PSL2. He is very good when came to a thinking bowler and will lead the attack of Pakistan team in near future.

I think he needs intensive training sessions for his technique to improve and to bat on the off side, otherwise he is a very good hitter a big hitter and in the absence of sharjeel he can be his replacement as he scored very good innings against Zimbabwe A team in his recent tour.
 
For West indies tour I would like to select:

remove Umar Akmal first and foremost, then remove Irfan jr and Harris.

Hassan Khan will likely be selected, Nawaz is not getting dropped either he'll be in the team, Rumman will get a chance in ODIs.

Hussain Talat won't be selected right now.
