Pretty much the same squad that played against NZ in T20I

I would replace Umar Amin with Talat
Yamin with Junaid or Shinwari or even someone like Shaheen or Ibtisam.
If Haris is unfit then we can rope in Agha Salman.

Your 15 man squad?

They will all play and might end up top scorrer / top wicket takers on home grounds against weaker WI team and would latter take back retirements :ashwin

I'd add Shinwari, Shaheez, Salman, Talat - in that order

Amin, Sohail, Malik and Hafeez out

1. Fakhar
2. Fahim
3. Babar
4. Sarfraz
5. Malik
6. Talat
7. Maqsood
8. Shadab
9. Hasan
10. Amir
11. Shaheen Afridi

12. Zafar Gohar
13. Junaid
14. Shinwari
15. Umar Amin

Either Fahim or Maqsood bats as opener. I don't mind. More up to what Maqsood wants, whether he wants the added batting practice opening in T20s, or practice at 7 given I'd play him at 7 in ODIs regardless since Haris would come back as opener.

Fahim I'd only play in T20s for now. I like him opening as it gives him batting practice. But not sure he's capable of opening.

The rest of the line up order, I'd keep the same pretty much in ODIs and T20s. Let them get used to their positions.

Afridi is very young, but I'm curious to see how good he is, given he already seems to be performing in domestic and PSL cricket at 17. He's nearly 18 now. And we don't have any standout 3rd pacer. Might not hurt given him a bit of international practice in T20s for now. If not shinwari or Junaid can play as one of them will be playing ODIs most likely.

No Shehzad and Amin PLEASE

what have they done to credit a place

We don't have an opener right now to partner Fakhar Zaman so i included Ahmad Shahzad (better than any other openers currently we have).

Umar Amin can be handy at number 6 as he has done against the New Zealand.

Other options are not too good in the form of Asad, Hafeez, Mallik, Maqsood, Harris (in T20's), iftikhar etc.

Can't happen with Rumman injured. Shaheen/Sameen/Irfan Jr. comes into the squad.

Can happen, although I dont want it to happen. Also Rumman will be fit by then as he is 80% fit as of now but the management is not taking risk as bowling puts lot of pressure on a bowler's knee. Considering that Rumman is rested as well

I would go with
Wahab
Junaid/Umaid Asif
Shaheen/Sameen/Irfan Jnr
Faheem
Shadab
Nawaz/Imad

This bowling attack will be able to win series easily if bastmen can atleast put 150-170.

Has WICB declared the squad yet?
I wonder if they would select first choice of players or would they send most of second choice players. As IPL would be just around the corner and most of the Windies players would be in India with their respective squad preparing for IPL.

Anyways, exciting time ahead for Pakistani fans as they would get to see World champs (T20) in action at home.

If we wanna test our bench strength we could rest few players and try Salman, Nawaz, Sameem/Umaid, and Shaheen. Kinda disappointing we didn't find more batsmen.

If I was Chief Selector, I would rest everyone in the main Pakistan team apart from Fakhar and Sarfaraz and try out newbies, not even from the PSL necessarily.

lots of great squads I'm seeing but unfortunately we know that PCB is gonna have it their way and their way alone. Obvious politics are gonna play a role in selections so we can't negate that (although I wish we could). It's doubtful their gonna kick out seniors and by PCB's standards, I think this is a realistic squad or maybe some variation (I really do hope that Malik & Hafeez get the boot soon).

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Mohammad Hafeez (a senior player) or Kamran Akmal (based on PSL performance)
3. Babar Azam
4. Sarfraz Ahmed
5. Shoaib Malik (another senior)
6. Hussain Talat (based on PSL performance)
7. Imad Wasim (based on his close relationship with Mickey Arthur)
8. Shadab Khan
9. Fahim Ashraf or Usman Shinwari or Junaid Khan (pick of the 3)
10. Hasan Ali
11. Mohammad Amir

Fakhar

On what basis does maqsood deserve a recall.
People voting for Agha Salman like he's the next Kohli. Let the guy play one full season at least. He's a good bat but not good enough for t20 just yet. May be Odis in a couple of years time.

I want to see Fakhar open with Sahibzada Farhan.

The two Fs to open

Play him when he is hot and good on confidence. Another season and he will probably get unduely dropped, loss of confidence and that would be that.

Fakhar
Farhan
Babar
Salman
Talat
Malik
Faheem
Shadab

Want to see these in the batting lineup

Changed my mind. You just can't keep out Kamran over these performances. Use him until the world cups are done, then retire him. Maqsood isn't dominating as he should, one great performance, but it's not at the same level.

In ODIs

1. Fakhar
2. Kamran
3. Babar
4. Haris
5. Sarfraz
6. Malik
7. Talat
8. Faheem
9. Shadab
10. Hasan
11. Amir

In T20s, the same but drop Haris, move everyone else one up, and include Shinwari. Shinwari can come in for Faheem if indeed he proves more worth than him in the ODI format.

I'd love for Talat to be batting higher up than 7 but not sure it will be realistically possible. Malik won't bat at 7 I don't think. Sarfraz at 7 is wasted, he needs to be up the order. Both Malik and Sarfraz don't have the power game for 7. Talat does. Hopefully he'll move up the order gradually with time, but someone has to play 7, and he's probably the best option for that atm. Talat looks like he could do a good job too, seems the right mold for a finisher.

Dunno who keeps. Kamran could keep if he's better than before, otherwise Sarfraz. Kamran may be poor in the field, but wonder if Sarfraz is any good either given he's put on weight. Either way whatever's best, though I'd lean on Sarfraz keeping (but both are good enough to make it bat alone, especially Sarfraz). I'd make it clear that Kamran has to work very hard on his fielding if in the squad/team as well as sufficient diet and fitness plans enforced and adhered to if he's to be with the team.

Babar, Sarfaraz and Malik in the middle order in T20s is a recipe for disaster. Considering that next T20 WC is in Australia, these players will be useless there.

All but Wahab, the way Wahab is playing in PSL, we better keep him in loop for couple of more years. certainly one of the best fastmen in PSL.

keyphrase "within the bounds of realism"

All three are playing bar injury, I agree its a disaster waiting to happen but I dont see it changing. Maybe Malik should be asked to call it quits considering he has already won a t20 WC and will be 38 come the next one.

A line up like this perhaps

1Farhan
2. Fahkar
3. Babar
4. Sarfraz
5. Talat
6. Asif

Still is far from ideal but looks better than before.

One thing I will say is that Sarfraz's power hitting seems to be improving, to early to say definitively but I was watching some clips of the NZ tour and off course the PSL. He staying more stable in the crease allowing him to hit through the line more often.

There are still two more PSLs to go before WT20. So hopefully younger players will emerge until then.

yep. An off spinner ( preferably one who can bat ) modern middle order batsmen ( not really convinced by asif ali) and a keeper to eventually replace Sarfraz is what I want to see down the track.

I think we are have a good bunch of players to try otherwise till then

Sameen Gul should be in the team..... he looks a little ahead of shaheen at the moment ..... but shaheen will leave him behind very quickly.....

Babar
Fakhar
Talat
Sarfi (unfortunately has to be in team)
Malik (senior quota)
Shadab
Asif
Imad
Faheem
Hasan
Amir

Usman
Shaheen
Agha Salman
Nawaz

Realistically speaking.... this is very possible and doable... a lot of people have put in farhan, he does have potential, but didnt do squat so far in psl to get in... malik did better than hafeez on senior quota... agha was stabalizer in lhr squad throughout so gets in.... babar is more equipped for opening than 1down... talat will excel at 1down... sarfi is useless down the order #4 is good for him... shadab and asif are switchable depending on game for batting position.... rest belong.... shaheen did good to get picked in squad...

Would be great for Shaheen to get some game time, alongside Amir and Hasan in LOIs. Sure he’s very young, think the bowling unit at home is strong enough to allow for him - shame there aren’t ODIs as that would give him longer exposure.

Shinwari too looks good, though Shaheen offers that height and a different sort of menace to the others.

Looking forward to having full houses for these games, give the bowlers added encouragement to bowl full early on - see some swing :)

I'd be very disappointed if tuk tuk Babar makes it to the next T20 squad. This guy has no business playing T20 cricket. Not built for this format. Infact he can only play against SL or WI. Put a half decent opposition against him and he starts showing his Akmal genes.

Bhai saab, he's gonna be in the team so mentally prepare yourself. Just pray that Sami, Wahab and selfie don't end up finding space....

Was just looking at fixtures on cricinfo in terms of ODI cricket for pakistan. So is the next time we play odis at the asia cup? That's a good 6 months away! :/

It's a home series so we can afford to select a 18 men squad.

1- Fakhar
2- Babar
3- Maqsood
4- Sarfaraz
5- Malik
6- Hussain Talat
7- Shadab
8- Fahim
9- Hassan
10- Rumman
11- Shahin Shah

Reserves:
Asif Ali
Agha Salman
Nawaz
Zafar Gohar
Amir
Shinwari
Wahab

Babar needs to open the innings, if he wants to play T20I.
Sarfaraz also needs to come up in the batting order during over 6 to 13 maximum.
Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali can be utlized as a pinch hitters, whenever required.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hussain Talat and Farhan should also be tested in this series.

Good question as this is coming up pretty soon. I think mine will be very similar to what's been posted already.

1. Zaman
2. Agha
3. Babar
4. Maqsood
5. Sarfraz c/wk
6. Talat
7. Ashraf
8. Shadab
9. Nawaz
10. Amir
11. Hasan Ali

A batting order that can change on the fly, with Nawaz, Faheem and Shadab all coming higher.

Rest of the squad

12. Umaid Asif
13. Rumman Rees (depending upon fitness, if fine he'd play)
14. Usman Khan
15. Asif Ali

Kamran akmal
Asad
Umar
Hafiz
Shoaib Malik

The WI are the second or 3rd best T20 side around, so if he's done well against them I'd be pretty happy with that. Let's not forget the world XI were no slouches either.

Last night he was far from tuk tuk, scored at 140 and at one stage was out pacing Denly. Minus Kamran's remarkable innings and KK would have won that game at a canter.

His previous 50+ score came at 130+ and was the second highest score of the match. Again, takeaway his cousins contribution and KK win that easy.

Dunno who you're watching that scores as consistently and does it faster that could make an XI but Babar can't.

Considering everyone here loves to mention Kohli all the time, looking at his first 2 years as a t20 cricketer (same time period as Babar), he was averaging barely 23 and striking at 118, as opposed to Azam's almost 50 and 123.

Even KOhli's current sr of 137 is not the 150s and 160s the posters on here seem to thikn every top t20 batsman goes at.

Looking at international T20s as a whole, of those with the top 10 SRs in the history of the game, only 2 have averages over 40 and one of them has played less games than Babar. The top batsmen of today (Kohli, Root, Williamson) and the top batsmen of a slightly different era (Amla, AB) don't even feature in the top 20.

Babars SR is only marginally worse than Root and Dhawan and better than Smith, Taylor, Shakib and Williamson.

So Pakistan must have 5 or 6 absolute world beaters with the bat for Babar not to be included. Could you all name them?
