Any changes?

Sohail in for Rahat?

Sharjeel for Sami?

Nawaz in?

Give Imran Khan a chance?

Thoughts?

I wish they don't change the team but I think Imran will play ahead of rahat

I want to try imran khan here but then again its risky. Arthur didnt really allow him play that many games from which we cant assess whether he could bowl here or not.

Wahab riaz will have to play due to the reverse swing factor. Hes the guy who could get that. Sohail khan is good option when starting an attack.

I would drop rahat ali. Really not happy with him. Hes a good bowler but he cant bowl 6 deliveries at one place

1) Sharjeel Khan
2) Azhar Ali
3) Babar Azam
4) Younis Khan
5) Asad Shafiq
6) Sarfaraz Ahmed
7) Mohammad Nawaz
8) Yasir Shah
9) Mohd Amir
10) Wahab Riaz
11) Imran Khan

Get the utter Liability Misbah out of the team. Sharjeel in for Sami to add an attacking option at the top. Nawaz in place of useless Misbah who has nothing more to give and is done now, also provides a 5th bowling option. Also the likes of Azhar and Younis Khan need to bowl some overs to ease the work load on the 4 bowlers. Imran Khan in place of Rahat to provide some much needed control.

Believe it or not I think they may pick Nawaz for the next Test. Just an inkling...

Shoail Khan in for Rahat Ali. Sharjeel Khan in for Sami Aslam. I know it's risky with Sharjeel but he could really cause some damage and Sami has also not been scoring heavily of late.

Sohail Khan/Imran Khan for Rahat Ali. No other changes. It is both hilarious and scary that people want Sami to be replaced with Sharjeel. Sami is the best test opener we have discovered during the last few years, however limited he may be in his strokeplay. Sharjeel doesn't even has an average of 30 in ODIs. He fires in 1-2 games in a 5 match series and is highly inconsistent. People are expecting him to change a test match against Aus in Aus, ridiculous.

this utter liability is the brains of the team, we know what kind of captain azhar is!!

6. Asad Shafiq
7. Sarfaraz
8. Yasir Shah

That third pacer is really killing us. Rahat had an awful game, Sohail has poor fitness and Imran is pretty easy to face. Imran though, can at least keep it tight.

Sami
Azhar
Babar
Younis
Shafiq
Misbah
Sarfraz
Amir
Wahab
Yasir
Sohail

Suggestions to drop Sami are ridicolous and Sohail doesn't turn up for 2nd or 3rd spells so only realistic choice is Imran for Rahat.

Rahat has to do some hard thinking after this series, he has NO game awareness

I don't know where is this publicity of sohail not able to bowl 2nd and third spell
He has better reverse swing of the selected pacer and better and courageous batsman as well

Sohail for Rahat should be the only change to avoid Aussies from making huge first innings total again. Sami and Babar will eventually come good.

Isn't it widely known that Sohail doesn't have the fitness for test cricket and struggled a lot in the 2nd innings in favorable conditions in England?

And on what planet is dropping a gem like Sami a good idea for a t20 player? Sami had played three innings as a teenager, came to England at 20 and in three completed innings scored a 70, and an 80 odd. He saved us embarrassment in a test we got bulldozed in.

If the selectors cannot nurture and support a young cricketer who has shown that he has the temperament and technique, then we'll never get the likes of a Root, Smith, Williamson or Kohli.

Sharjeel, the LOI specialist averages 28 in ODIs, 24 in T20Is, and 37 in 7 years of low quality first class cricket.

Not sure how a quick 20 or 30 [at best] will help the team.

Imran Khan is the only realistic option for Rahat.

Not convinced that Babar Azam is test material, but he needs to be given consistent opportunities.

Sharjeel for Aslam.

No need Mr Technique Aslam for a flat MCG pitch.

Rahat needs to be replaced by anyone, he just doesnt look like he can do anything in the match.

Given its in Melbourne I would go with this team.

1. Sami
2. Azhar
3. Younis
4. Misbah
5. Asad
6. Sarfraz
7. M. Nawaz ( This is very important given the heat and tendancy of wicket to spin)
8. M. Amir
9. Sohail K.
10. Wahab R.
11. Yasir S.

Effect of T20 and power hitting, nothing else...

I don't know why and it is totally against what I normally would say but for some reason I want Sharjeel opening.

MCG is flat generally and pace isnt Sharjeel's big weakness.

If he comes off somehow and gets a 70-80 even, that will turn the game in our favor big time

to do sth extraordinary you have to take brave decisions

Not sure how MCG pitch is like... if it is good for pacers take 4 seamers.. Amir, Sohail, Rahat, Wahab..

No imran is because of the batting depth.. Rahat should be used as a first change bowler as he is good and effective with that, he is struggling to control his swing with the new ball...

If it spins take Ashgar ... yasir shah is not spinning the ball much and in Aus pacers do dominate.. Out of 35 wickets only 5 was taken by spinners from both sides..

I will go with Amir, Sohail, Rahat and Wahab for the 2nd test...

:rahat (The Destroyer) needs to be rested to make the playing field fair for the Aussies.

His motivational speech alone, during the final innings at the Gabba, almost made us do the impossible !! Just imagine what would've happened had he turned up in the previous three innings :O

Not to mentioned nobody could get him out during that epic run chase and it was the collective failure of the rest that deprived us of the win..... :(

Nevertheless the destroyer seemed to have done his bit, and instilled a sense of confidence in the lads that could very well make them cross the line in the coming two games. Also The destroyer :rahat is humble enough to bow out of the spot light and let the youngsta beauties soak in all the glory and triumph !!

What a guy !! Take a bow Champion !!

Sohail Khan in for Rahat. Can't believe people want Sami to be dropped

Sohail Khan in, Rahat Ali out.
Sohail can bat too which will bring more depth to the tail.

The only change I would like is Imran khan for Rahat ali.

We dont need to drop either of sami or azam , both scored a 50 each in the difficult tour of newzealand and its their development period. The more they play in foreign condition the better it is for our future. Sharjeel and nawaz can wait.

Only Rahat is changeable.

Despite the hormonal influx of teens who want Sharjeel as opener, Sami rightly deserves his spot over a batsmen whose best shot is a leg-slide slog. Sharjeel will get ample opportunities in ODI's for his slogs.

The rest of the team selects itself.

:)))

It will be a travesty of justice if he is not retained for the XI in the next game

:))) I think the best way the destroyer can serve the Pakistani team by bowing out of the team altogether forever.

I am going to do 'qurbani' to ensure selection of "the Rahat Ali"

Sorry guys for posting in this thread, but is there any way I can find out when and where Pakistan will train prior to the Melbourne test?
I would love to watch them train. Thanks in advance.

Rahat is the only interchangeable part.

I'd go with Imran Khan as a replacement.

Rahat out Imran/Sohail in

REplacing sami with Sharjeel would be a blunder

1) Aslam
2) Azhar
3) Babar
4) YK
5) Shafiq
6) Sarfraz
7) Misbah
8) Amir
9) Yasir
10) Wahab
11) Sohail Khan

Essentially move Misbah down to 7 and promote Shafiq to no. 5.

Replace Rahat with Sohail Khan and we'll be good to go!

Normally for something like this we'd always refer to either Junaids or Convict

I guess they might have an idea for the latter !!

Might have been able to help if the match was in Perth but I can't help for Melbourne

I can't believe so many posters are asking for axing of Sami 🙄

He has been great since English tour.He has faced lot tougher bowlers,in tough conditions, yet people want him out, after one failure?? - Even in first innings he was the only one stannding tough bowling. He made 90 in a chase just a test before, which Pakistan should have drawn, again thanks to Sami.

Blocking skills of Azhar and Samni are paramount for Pakistan success in west, this is toughest part of batting, it allows others (Babar, YK and Shafiq to thrive)...

Don't forget shafiq was in much weaker position just before his 100 than Sami 😉

Tbh I back Pakistan to win this series from hereon if they play to their potential. This is a very very weak Aussie side.

It would've been best had OZGOD been active these days .... If I am not too mistaken he's from Melbourne right ??

Im returning to my senses a bit

Sami Should retain his place

even if he doesnt score many his 30 or 40 are long vigils and they blunt the new ball. Sharjeels 20-30 would mean he is out within 5-6 overs and our 2 oldies exposed to new ball.

But the possibilities which come with Sharjeel tempt me

Random Aussie was from Melbourne iirc

PP had much more int'l representation earlier

5-6 Aussies, 3-4 kiwis, multiple saffers and a couple of english folks.

ind, ban, sl aswell ofcourse

We could do with less Indians and more Aus/Eng/SA.. The discussions would be more meaningful and there will be less mindless rhetoric
