3 moments that regardless of the final outcome of the match were moments that truly made the entire nation and its thousands of supporters across the globe go absolutely nuts with excitement. 3 moments that gave the instant sensation of sniffing an epic victory against the old rival. 3 moments that regardless of the outcome made the opposition and its fans see a glimpse of an inevetable defeat. 3 of the greatest moments in the history of India and Pakistan cricket.
Context of each moment.
Sourav Ganguly's LBW (by Waqar Younis) in the historic 2003 wc group stage clash against Pakistan came at a time when Pakistan were truly under immense pressure of the onslought layed upon them by the rampant opening stand of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar. Pakistan were lucky to get a breakthrough to halt the fast and furious start. However, with the old gun slinger Waqar Younis doing his best to pull things back for Pakistan, he produced a gem of a moment by trapping the Indian Skipper Sourav Ganguly at a time when Pakistan could only do its best by taking wickets.
Yuvraj Singh, in the build up to the epic clash of 2011 at Mohali was by far the most in form and star player for the Indian side. A major force and reason as to why they reached the Semi final. Besides his current form, Yuvraj was still reknown as one of the fiercest performers in India-Pakistan history. With such a background, his wicket, that too being bowled for the first ball at a time when India were searching for a partnership to regain authority over the innings. This wicket must have been the moment when all Pakistan fans must have sensed that they will achieve the impossible.
Finally, what more can I say about the Amir v Kohli wicket inf the final of the Champion's trophy 2017? Kohli, with his prolific history of decimating the Pakistan bowling attack for the past two years. The amount of runs that he has piled on without even getting out must have made all Pakistan fans around the world believe that even a score of 400 on a flat deck at the Oval may not be enough to secure victory if Virat Kohli gets going. The wicket, especially because of the frustration of him being dropped the delivery before was probably the moment when Pakistani fans knew that they have officially won the game.
So Pakistan fans, cricket fans and Indian fans if you like, Please tell us which of the three was the most heart-stopping moment for you?
