Zia-ul-Haq and Mohammad Aftab, where are they now?

Both considered at very young age very talented addition to the left arm fast bowling tradition of Pakistan just like Shaheen Shah and Ghulam Mudassar at the moment but the earlier two mentioned are no where to be seen.

Zia Ul haq played the first addition of PSL and wasnt too impressive but one could have easily seen the late swing and good pace however he isnt selected in this year's national T20 cup and he wasnt part of PSL as well.

Same is the case with Mohammad Aftab, compared to Mohammad Amir by many but he is long out of any sort of news.

They both are still very young. So what do you guys think?

Shocked at Zia Ul Haq not being there. I made a similar thread on him around half a year ago and everyone seems to be of the opinion that he was never that good anyway (which I highly disagree with) and lost the way. Wonder why that happened because I remember him bowling in the high 140's (albeit with little control) in his teens! Still young so..

The other guy, haven't even heard of him.

Zia does have some skill and pace with a very fluid action but mentally weak.

The other is quite confident but lacks pace.

Lets hope they can give new dimension to thier career like Usman Shanwari. He was all into limelight with his swing and pace in national T20 cup a few years back.

Earned himself a debut match and struggled. Some ppl written him of at that time. Now this years PSL has been very good for him, he bowled very well under pressure, exectuted the yourkers and was impressive. Got selected in T20 swuad but didnt play the match. He is in the central contract list as well If I am right.

So lets hope the same for Aftab and Zia if they get the opportunity.

I think Shinwari can be a good bowler in limited overs cricket. He needs to work bit on his run up. He bowled some excellant overs in the death in PSL 2 against well known hitters and was reasonably good with the new ball as well. That is what lead him to National team once again as he was in the squad for T20 series against Westindies.

Limited over cricket is where I see him at the moment.

Zia is probably 27 28......right...if not now then never...PCB never tried anybody in place of Amir properly....Junaid Irfan were always stopgap.....zia Adil never got decent run

Needs to play in the first xI to have any chance you reakon or do you reakon you can play in the second xI and stil play for Pakistan

I contacted Aftab and he said that he is playing some club cricket in Lahore.

He seems very keen on getting out of Pakistan.

Needs to play in the first xI to have any chance you reakon or do you reakon you can play in the second xI and stil play for Pakistan

He needs to do well enough at the 2nd XI level to rightfully earn promotion to the first XI. If he consistently performs well there only then should he be considered for the A team or national team. That should be the criteria. If he can't dominate at the 2nd XI level, how good would he be at the international level.

The chief was right.
Aftab was not cut out for the international level while we all saw what happened to Zia when he featured in the first PSL.

I remember an awesome batting performance from Kamran in Leicester in a England U-19 v Pakistan U-19 match

Im surprised that quite a few of the Pakistani players in that game came into international cricket.

You are quite right that for England it seems to only be Duckett. I dont know if any of the others apart from Rhodes even play county.

Zia seemed to be a lot older than we he claimed to be. Not saying he was an age fudger but the lad seemed to have the weight of the world on his shoulders whenever he bowled.

england dont use the under 19 team as a development tool, most of the players who show up for england under 19 disappear in the system.

paks one of the few teams that will pull out first class players to play under 19. if ur in the first team squad or regular at a county, i dont think youll get pulled out for under 19 england duty very often.
