Zimbabwe (133/8) defeat Pakistan (132/7) in a nail-biting encounter by 2 wickets to register win in the 3rd T20I - Pakistan win the series by 2-1

Lol why no Richard ngrava yet. He smashed Pakistan in the first odis badly.

Lol Abbas Marshall is showing his real worth against mighty Zimbabwe after two good overs

Pakistani bowlers are such trundlers , lol.

Not one bowler looks like a quality seamer in the entire domestic setup .

Thankfully, spin looks better . Otherwise, proper minnow level

Disappointed in all the new pacers. it seems like they just turn up on the day without thinking it’s their chance to make impact in their career. Husnain attitude is questionable. he bowls like a bowling machine that does nt get effected at all by anything.

Entertaining finish. ZIM commentator was calling it like the final of the T20 WC :ROFLMAO:

Seniors or youngsters, you can always rely on PAK to fumble in the field under pressure.

Jahandad's inexperience at the death can be excused. Hasnain is the main culprit in the loss. The guy has been playing cricket for 6-7 years now and it was really telling that the captain did not trust him with the penultimate overs. His 20 run over was the difference in the end. He should not get any more opportunities

Agha should have bowled the last over in hindsight.

Nevertheless 2-1, 2-1 fair reflection of our cricket a step above minnow , ages behind Elite

Was a a nice tour overall. Zim started and ended on a high. Pak finally broke the Babar system and tried out new raw players

Why didn't the captain try Qasim Akram for one over? The pitch was assisting the spinners.

his attitude is questionable. He gets one game and it seems like he did nt wake up from last night sleep

Jahandad, Farhan, Hasnain should not be part of international side.

Usman Khan should get last chance vs SA.

Overall wonderful series, finally Pak using brains and using 2nd string team.

well done PCB

He's useless at least with Abbas and jahandad they can bat a bit and field. Hasnain attitude and body language is also quite pathetic let alone his cricketing ability.

Jahandad is still New

Farhan it seems not international material

Hasnain has attitude problem. He seems to not care

Usman is a tuller , does nt matter if you give him a whole year he will remain so

Jahandad should be persisted with. He can swing the ball both ways with the new ball if there is something in the wicket and has some variations which are useful at the death. He can hit the ball hard as well. He should have been given a chance with the bat above Arafat Minhas.

Pakistan doesnt need Babar Azam at all.

They won both series without him.
Winning the series against Zimbabwe is not a big achievement( As it was predictable ) but losing two games against them is not acceptable.for any top teams .

If pakistan can repeat same results in South Africa than it will he very good tour for them ( 2-1 odi,2-1 T20 series win )

Pak still lost lesser games against Zim across formats compared to India

its ok to loose with emerging players. India also lost a game after winning t20 wc

Pcb should not mind loosing odd games as long as they give chance to new players.

Pakistan team with series trophy

Good that Pakistan tried out bench players.

Losses in these bilateral T20 games don't matter much.

Salman Ali Agha shared following thoughts in post match presentation:

Q: A brief overview on team's performance:

It's been outstanding—the way youngsters put on a show, and I have been very proud of them.

Q: How much happy are you to contribute with the bat also for your team?

Really happy, I would like to score more runs, but I'm happy contributing with my bowling and especially under captaincy.

Q: Thoughts on challenging South Africa tour ahead:

It will be a long tour against South Africa; there will be sore bodies, but we will go there and try to win as well.

Q: Thoughts on Saim Ayub and Sufyan Muqeem:

Regarding Saim Ayub and Muqeem, both have a long future ahead and will serve Pakistan for a long time.

Q: Salman Ali Agha expressed gratitude for the Zimbabwe crowd for their appearance in the matches:

I want to thank the Zimbabwe crowd; I enjoyed every single game, and thank you for your contribution. See you soon.

The question is not whether he can swing the ball or not , but once the main team starts playing you will have Shaheen, Naseem and Rauf frontline bowlers with 2 spinners.

Zimbabwe bag thrilling consolation win in Bulawayo

Zimbabwe registered a thrilling two-wicket consolation win over Pakistan in the third and final T20I with just one ball remaining here at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo on Thursday afternoon. Pakistan, who sealed the series 2-1, had set a 133-run target for Zimbabwe earlier after opting to bat first.

Requiring 21 to win off the last two overs of the chase, Zimbabwe managed nine runs in the penultimate over off Mohammad Abbas Afridi to set themselves 12 to win in the last over.

Debutant Tinotenda Maposa smoked Jahandad for a four and a six on the first two balls of the over, respectively and levelled the scores with a single as Richard Ngarava scored the winning run on the fifth ball of the over.

Opening batters Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani (15, 6b, 3x4s) got Zimbabwe off to a flying start putting on 40 runs off 3.2 overs as they set out in pursuit of a modest target. Player of the match Bennett hit six fours and and one six in his 35-ball 43-run stay on the crease.

Zimbabwe slipped from 70-1 in nine overs 112-6 in 18 overs as they lost five wickets for 42 runs in 54 balls. Apart from Bennett no other Zimbabwean batter crossed the 20-run mark.

For Pakistan Abbas Afridi was the pick of the bowlers returning figures of 3-24 in his four-over quota. Jahandad picked up two wickets while Salman Ali Agha and Sufyan Moqim dismissed one batter each. Sufyan, for his nine wickets in the series, was also named player of the series.

Earlier, Pakistan slipped to 19-3 in four overs before skipper Salman Ali Agha top-scored with a run-a-ball 32 including three fours while No.5 batter Tayyab Tahir chipped in with 21 off 14 balls hitting two fours and one six.

Pakistan were 66-4 at the halfway mark and 96-6 in 15 overs as Zimbabwe bowlers kept the scorecard in check. Valuable lower order contributions by Arafat Minhas (22, not out, 26b, 2x4s), Qasim Akram (20, 15b, 3x4s) and Abbas Afridi (15, 14b, 3x4s) led Pakistan to 132-7 in 20 overs.

For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani picked up two wickets while Tinotenda Maposa, Ryan Burl, Wellington Masakadza and Ngarava dismissed one batter each.

Scores in brief

Match 3 - Zimbabwe beat Pakistan by two wickets at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo

Pakistan 132-7, 20 overs (Salman Ali Agha 32, Arafat Minhas 22 not out, Tayyab Tahir 21, Qasim Akram 20; Blessing Muzarabani 2-25)

Zimbabwe 133-8, 19.5 overs (Brian Bennett 43, Sikandar Raza 19; Mohammad Abbas Afridi 3-24, Jahandad Khan 2-30)

Jahandad looked million dollar in domestic which shows that even Zimbabwe national team is far better than our top domestics teams. We are definitely heading towards becoming minnow.

Tayyab Tahir in post match press conference answered

Q: Give us your assessment of the whole series
:

To be honest, we have been playing in Pakistan so conditions in Zimbabwe were a bit difficult for us as a batting unit. The (batting) tracks here are slow and turning. So when you come from playing on good batting tracks (in Pakistan) to these ones (in Zimbabwe), it becomes a bit difficult for you as you can't hit many boundaries here and thus you had to change your (batting) mindset here. It was the reason that we were taking more singles and doubles than dealing in boundaries.

Q: How much will the confidence gained from this series win would help you in South Africa?

The good thing for us is that we won't struggle much with the bat in South Africa as in contrast to pitches in Zimbabwe, the ball comes on nicely onto the bat there. So you people would get to see us hitting more boundaries there.

Q: Thoughts on Pakistan's pacers performance:

The pacers made us win the last two matches but in cricket it's all about momentum. So whenever you have momentum, whether be it in batting or bowling, you do great. So sometimes when your side is unable to bowl well in few years especially in T20Is, then this could cost your team the match and made the comeback difficult for your side

Q: Did you come across any short coming in your team performance?

I think the thing that we missed the most was the under utilization of the middle overs. Because in the T20 format, you always try to avoid playing dots but we played a lot during the middle overs and this was the reason that instead of ending up at 150 runs, we fell short and made only 132 runs but still it was a close contest. So we need to work on this area.

Q: How difficult was this series for your team?

It is always difficult to defeat any side in their home series. But the big positive for us was that we afforded a lot of opportunities to the youngsters which would really boost their confidence. And one thing that we have observed that whenever you play for Pakistan team, the one thing that you need the most is adequate confidence and such series offer the youngsters the opportunity to get a lot of it.

The question is not whether he can swing the ball or not , but once the main team starts playing you will have Shaheen, Naseem and Rauf frontline bowlers with 2 spinners.

Tbh Shaheen Naseem and Rauf blow hot and cold, they are unlikely to be consistent performers. Need to put pressure on them for their spots.

Salman, usman, are pedestrians and should not be persisted with. This series was a good opportunity for Pakistan to check their bench strength but alas the bench is either ordinary or bench wasn't selected on merit. I would have loved if both umar akmal and shehzad would have been tried particularly mote so in view of upcoming champions Trophy and both could be vital in that as ODI side of pak lack depth and experience in batting.
Had I been selector my playing XI for zimbabwe series would had been
Omair bin yusuf
Shehzad
Umar Akmal
Haider Ali
Tayyab tahir
Rohail nazir
Arafat minhas
Abdul samad
Abbas Afridi
Sufiyan muqeem
Dhani
Reserves in squad
Qasim akram
Yasir khan
Zaman khan

Umar Akmal and Shehzad,?

You gotta be kidding me.

Why not Inzimam and Yousaf then too?

Pakistan lost first and last match of the tour, is it some strategy by PCT ?

So 1 thing is established (FARHAN, SALMAN, USMAN) are pathetic.

Also I am very disappointed by Jahandad's performance. He should have done better job against Zimbabwe.

After this defeat, at least Pakistan team can say that they were trying new players. Truth is even with the regulars they can't always win against teams like Zim/Ire/USA.
