Zimbabwe will host Sri Lanka for two Test matches, followed by a triangular one-day international series involving the two sides and West Indies.

Both Tests will be played at Harare Sports Club in the capital, with the first match scheduled to start on 29 October 2016. The second is pencilled in for 6-10 November.

After the Test matches, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka will meet at Harare Sports Club in the first ODI of the tri-series scheduled for 14 November.

Two days later, West Indies will face Sri Lanka at the same venue.

The tri-series series then moves to Bulawayo where Zimbabwe will take on West Indies on 19 November.

On 21 November, the hosts will face Sri Lanka, while the latter will play West Indies two days later.

The Zimbabwe-West Indies fixture scheduled for 25 November will mark the end of the round-robin, with the top two sides on the standings table meeting in the final set for 27 November.

All the Bulawayo matches, including the final, will be played at Queens Sports Club.

Will be interesting to see how WI fare in Zimbabwe considering how close Pakistan are to them in the ODI ranking.

The tests will be good for Lanka so they can try out some new guys and try to settle down their side.

Zimbabwe announce 16-man squad for Test series vs Sri Lanka

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Wednesday announced the 16-man squad for the upcoming two-Test series vs visitors Sri Lanka, as the decided to drop Tendai Chatara and Tinashe Panyangara, who are unfit at present to make to the squad. Meanwhile, Chris Mpofu, along with rookie seamer Carl Mumba have got a call into the side, while Mpofu earns his recall back to the Zimbabwe Test side after almost five years. Also, Tarisai Musakanda was one of the uncapped picks in the squad, as Musakanda, along with Mumba have represented Zimbabwe A against Pakistan A in October 2016. Interestingly, veteran batsman Vusi Sibanda saw himself dropping out of the squad, after failing to put on some good score during the series vs Pakistan A.

With India, Pakistan, West Indies, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, England and New Zealand being involved in cricketing action for past few days, Tests in particular, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe were somewhat left behind. The two teams will look to make up for it when they take on each other in a two-Test series in Zimbabwe starting October 29 at Harare. As has been the case for past some time, both the Tests will be played in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare, which means that Bulawayo will once again miss out on cricketing action.

The first Test will be played between October 29 and November 2 while the second Test will be played at the same venue between November 6 and November 10.

Zimbabwe Test squad vs SL: Graeme Cremer, Tino Mawoyo, Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Regis Chakabva, Peter Moor, Donald Tiripano, Chris Mpofu, Taurai Muzarabani, Michael Chinouya, Brian Chari, Sikandar Raza, Malcolm Waller, Carl Mumba, Tarisai Musakanda.

WI still persisting with Suleiman Benn - why ?

Miguel Cummins plays 1 ODI and is dropped. In the mornings at Harare seamers do get assistance - so why drop one of your most promising young pacers ?

Jonathan Carter is very lucky to keep his place, he's done nothing in ODIs so far.

SL may be going through a transition but I expect them to have too much in all formats.

should be a good evenly matched series

Even without Chandimal and Mathews ? No way Jose !!!!. Even Ireland can beat this team. Can't wait till Mathews come back, pack starting line ups with2 genuine bowlers and fill rest of the bowling "all rounders" that can't bat or bowl and impart 2 inch turn of spin bowling.

Zimbabwe vs West Indies is the new India VS Pakistan, or England vs Aus.

Or Bangladesh vs Afghanistan :shakib

Currently only Zim is hosting triangular series if I am not wrong. Last triangular series between zim, south africa and australia was also good.

Nope, Aus WI and SA in June.

Personally I like the idea of a tri series, don't see why more teams don't do it.

That was so boring. I have never liked matches played in west indies after 2007 world cup. Previously I used to wait for the matches in caribbean due to the atmosphere and pitches but not now. Still can't forget that day when two arch rivals who were supposed to play in the next round met each other at the airport. :inti

Historically, it's Eng vs Aus, SA vs WI, Ind vs Pak. I guess the other rivalries can be: SL vs Ban and NZ vs Zim.

West Indies A are touring Sri Lanka right now and I was surprised at how well they are doing. They won the first Test before losing the second and then obliterated SL A in the first ODI. Sri Lanka's bench strength seems to be very poor right now if they can't even beat WI A at home.

This should be a good, competitive series. Don't write Zimbabwe off.

IIRC SL A won the series 2-1 and tried out something close to 20 players but your point is well made.

SL's talent pool is very minimal, and SL players are generally kind of dumb and they can always be out smarted. Sri Lankan players are also incapable of improving as they are lazy. SL is the least deserving team to participate in the upcoming champions league.

The series is ongoing. Maybe you are talking about an earlier series. WI won the second ODI today too by 100+ runs and therefore have won the series with one match to go.

was talking about the unofficial tests. yeah the odis are still ongoing

Big blow to Zimbabwe's pace attack as Panyangara and Chatara will miss out due to injury.

So the youngster Carl Mumba comes in which is exciting. He's torn up the domestic circuit taking 59 wickets in just 16 FC matches at an average of 17.

Zimbabwe really need a genuine quick in this team not gentle 120kph trundlers.

Do you know how fast he bowls??

Their exclusions might end up being blessings in disguise as he may burst onto the scene.

No DRS for two Test matches between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka

Mumbai—The Umpire Decision Review System (DRS) will not be used in the forthcoming Test series between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, it is learnt here. According to the highly placed sources in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), no efforts were made to convince the host country to use the system for the two Test series commencing on Saturday in Harare.

“The host board (Zimbabwe Cricket in this case) bears the total cost of the system to be in place and it has been decided mutually to avoid its use”, the source, speaking exclusively from Harare, confirmed on Thursday morning. .

“Australia’s Simon Fry and England’s Ian Gould are scheduled to officiate as field umpires with Jeremiah Matibiri (first Test), Langton Rusere (second Test) and Russell Tiffin as local TV / Reserve umpires. England’s Chris Broad will be the ICC match referee.

Interestingly, Broad’s appointment has come after being alerted by Cricket Australia (CA) when the 60-year-old Broad tweeted an image during the recent first ODI between Australia and South Africa in which he was watching the Ryder Cup in the match officials’ room.

No Sri Lankan selector for Tests

In the meantime, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has not sent any selector for Tests to Zimbabwe. This was confirmed by the president Thilanga Sumathipala.

Speaking exclusively over his mobile from Colombo, he said, “(We send) only when we have to change the squad from a red to white ball”.

The chief selector Sanath Jayasuriya has been travelling to Australia with the 1996 World Cup winning team to Australia and it is not certain whether he would be available for the ODIs’.

St John’s, ANTIGUA – The selection panel of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has named Jason Mohammed to replace Darren Bravo to join the squad for the upcoming one-day-international Tri-Nation series with Sri Lanka and hosts Zimbabwe.

The 30-year old, right-handed batting allrounder, recently captained West Indies A Team in the 3-0 series win over Sri Lanka A in Sri Lanka. He was captain and one of the leading batsmen in the three-match series with scores of 105 not out, 58 and 14.

Bravo has been replaced due to inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, which is contrary to his contractual obligations to the WICB.

The clause in his agreement clearly states (in clause 4.7.2.2 of your match/tour contract) not to make any statement in or to any form of media (which shall include, without limitation, print media, television, radio, internet or any social networking media), or any other public statement, which would bring yourself, WICB or any official or authorised representative of WICB or the game of cricket into disrepute and your agreement to use all such media in a responsible manner.

Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo has been named to replace off-spinner Sunil Narine who has withdrawn from the squad for personal reasons.

Bishoo was the leading bowler for West Indies in the recent Test Series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates – where he took 18 wickets in the three matches. The 31-year-old has so far played 13 ODIs, with 20 wickets (average 23.8; economy rate 4.28).

Third time West Indies have announced their squad.

Amazing... how dare Bravo reject a joke of a contract. :yk2

Seems as though Trump is running WICB.

Historically, it's Eng vs Aus, SA vs WI, Ind vs Pak. I guess the other rivalries can be: SL vs Ban and NZ vs Zim.

Ind vs Pak will be replaced by ind vs Bd soon I guess as ind vs Pak won't happen soon and ind vs Bd is getting interesting now a days.
