Zimbabwe vs Pakistan | 1st ODI | Bulawayo | July 13, 2018 | Pakistan Innings

Even though he made up for it in the end, this innings by Imam is a horrible inning. Poorly paced, lacking fluency. This inning is not good for Pakistan in the long run, it is going to haunt us.

100 for Imam. Not exact great innings considering how poorly he started but at least he managed to up his strike rate and got himself a 100. Hopefully he will more attacking shots now.

Strike Rate of 90, and a Haq, what more do you want?

Pakistanis deserve Afridi

Cricket is not played on spreadsheets. Like it or not, today's innings was embarrassing. He looked clueless early on and his dot ball % today is a joke. Good on him for battling through today but if he repeats today's antics he will get dropped.

That said Imam, with some technical work, is an excellent test prospect.

Got to a century. Good.

But the problem is, ZIM never looked like they want to take any wicket. Both wickets were gifted.

If Imam repeats his today's performance against top teams, then once he's stuck, they won't allow him to get away.

This century will do more bad to Pakistan, than good.

With the comeback of Sharjeel , Fakhar will have more freedom to play and he will stay on the crease to play as long as he can with strike rate of around hundred and with sharjeel attacking from other end he can take the game away from opposition he is excellent player of pace bowling.. U have a destructive combo that can make fear in opposition...

There's a lot to dislike about Imam's strokeplay, despite him scoring a century. Quality attacks will eat him alive

Sharjeel is not coming back. Move on.

oh god this bazid khan has really annoying voice.I don't want to sleep uncle

Nice comment in espncricinfo

Fuzzy: "If someone plays shots we have a problem, if someone takes time to settle we have a problem, when someone scores we raise them to the sky, if in the next match they score less we want them out of the team. If fans are that unpredictable, what can we expect from the team!"

Let's look at things on a match to match basis. Despite a bad start Imam made it up in then end which deserves credit.

9 overs, 100 more, 330 is a very big possibility.

BUT IMAM IS LOSING US THE GAME WITH A RUN A BALL KNOCK

Imam is giving false hopes. He is not good enough. But now after this century against mighty Zimbabwe he is going to get free ride till worldcup.

He's struggling to accelerate right now. Good Test prospect, but should be dropped from LOIs with immediate effect. One Shehzad has done enough damage to Pakistan cricket

No, Rameez's voice is okay, if he spoke sense, he'd be one of the top commentators in the World.

Bazid is just annoying, and I mostly tune him out.

How is Rameez even bareable, he uses the same adjectives to define every shot and wicket. Plus in terms of analyzing the game he's pretty much cringeworthy, I'd rather have a monotune Bazid who actually knows what's happening.

People do realise that if we drop Imam mid-series, we'll have Hafeez in and the nightmare scenario of him scoring century after century?

Which Pakistani batsman doesn't struggle when trying to accelerate. Even the great Babar does.

What are the alternatives? From my understanding Shehzad is the alternative.

Or Hafeez and Azhar.

Imam has potential, has talent, and is obviously doing better than those two.

110 dot balls so far after 43 overs. That is absolutely criminal.

OH yeah forgot about the horrors of Azhar opening in ODIs.

If we are going to play hypothetical scenarios then what would have Fakhar's 60 and Babar's 30 be worth against a stronger opposition?

Against a stronger opposition all kind of outcomes are possible including 48/4

I have no worries with Fakhar's knock, he's proven time and again he's reliable. Babar's 30's are annoying, he plays quite a few of these innings. Hope he doesn't go his cousin's way.

Honestly, I like our batting lineup at the moment. Imam is slow, but he's not the sort of impediment that Shehzad and Azhar were, or the walking wicket Hafeez is. I'd love a better option, and might like to see Farhan there, but if it's out of these, Imam everythime

Hoping for some good blows from Asif Ali

Just checked and Imam and Pakistan on a roll here, good decision to pick Asif Ali as a hitter :)

Good fitness from Imam, still running the 2s very well

Where are the armchair experts saying Asif was nothing but a hack ?

Look at how sweetly he times the ball.

There are plenty of alternatives to Hafeez, Azhsr, Shahzad.

Sahibzada Farhan. Pakistan have nothing to lose, do they?

Out finally. He played well from 50 to 100. Anything before or after that was mediocre.

I hate to say that, but Imam should be ashamed of himself after playing such an awful innings

Let's test Farhan in the t20s while sticking with Imam in ODIs as long as he can justify it. So far I see no reason to pick on a guy who is playing his 5th match and just scored a century. Especially after being plagued by the likes of Shehzad and Hafeez for years.

I called Asif a hack, for his knock against Australia, great knock here though. Maybe it was just the pressure there.

That drive for four was class. Most of our batsman would either get a single off that shot or hit it straight to the man in the ring for a dot.

I'm all for giving promising young players a go. But what I have seen of Imam-ul-haq, he struggles to convince us that he can hack it against the big boys. Played one ODI in NZ, where Boult kept at him and eventually got him out playing a bad pull shot. Just doesn't inspire confidence

Fahim should be kicked out ASAP, complete failure with bat and we have better bowlers than him,,,

Faheem is becoming a half batter and half bowler. Just not good enough.

If he keeps adding nothing with the bat, then better playing 4 genuine bowlers + Shadab as an AR.

He truly is. He should take a ball or two to get his eye in. He has been shockingly bad since last 3-4 matches.

I know he's got a good batting talent but he wants to play too many shots from ball 1. Needs to be promoted in order for him to develop.

Let's wait and see if he has in him to improve. I like give new players some trust and confidence that they will perform better. If he keeps on failing against better sides then at least we would be justified in picking on him and calling for better alternatives.
