Wicket in his first over on debut and thn another wicket in second over looking good so far and just now while i am typing got 3rd wicket in his 4th over...

Looks a real Quality spinner, the way he was flighting the ball in T20 shows how brave he is as a bowler...

Should be part of our test team
 
Nice variety particularly the one that leaves the right hander.

Obviously gets the extra bounce because of his height.

Zulfiqar Babar's 3-23 is the second best debut figures for Pak in T20Is. The best are by Mansoor Amjad who took 3-3 v Zim in 2008

And now at least we can give some rest to Ajmal in shorter version of the game if needed poor guy is leading our attack in all formats from quite long...

Been waiting for his debut for years.

Our spinners are light years ahead of other teams, our bench is very very strong.

Babar and Ajmal bowling in tests will be a wonderful sight.

I don't think they are going to try him in Tests i can't see him playing against Africa in October...
 
Why Pakistan Debut a 34 years old guy?? PCB has completely lost it... Pakistan has loads of spinners already. What purpose it can serve?? It is very frustrating to be a fan of Pakistan Cricket!!!
 
What a fantastic bowler. Great to see him turn the ball and not be bothered with the gimmicky deliveries like other spinners of today.

Raza Hasan has to wait for a while. No where near this guy yet.

That's the end of Rehman's limited over career as well if he ever had one.
 
Although was expensive in his last over today but got the 2 main wickets in same over

So much respect, he stuck to his basics

Even after going for 20 for 4, he still was not afraid to flight the ball. Respect for the bravery he showed :14:

Same happened yesterday when he was hit for SIX in his first over good to see a brave spinner...
 
Great thing about him is that he is always ready to flight the ball, I feel his bowling is more suited to tests and ODIs than T20s though
 
Get him in for test matches.

Wonderful genuine spinner.

Feels like Mushtaq Ahmed is back.
 
It's too early to say anything but i guess he will be part of the Test Squad against SA in UAE

He should have been in the team a long time back. The selection committee is very irritating.
 
First over by Zulfi was a Maiden today let's see what's next in 3 overs...

Well we can't do anything about it now, such a shame he's at the fag end of his career :(. I hope it's not the same case for another upcoming slow left armer. He goes by the name of Zafar Gohar
 
Why should his age be a factor , get The babarsher into the test team against south africa , he will spin the life out of the cricket ball on those tracks , puts crazy amounts of revs on the ball , and does it all with a smile on his face .He is my newest mancrush .

Rehman has done nothing wrong, and he is also world class. Rehman is just a bench warmer for us and still better than Indias no 1 spinner, Ravichandran ashwin
 
Hopefully he will play the first Test. Every match he Plays he deliveres. But is Misbah brave enough to drop Abdur Rehman?

From what I remember Rehman did very well in Zimbabwe. Not sure what he has done to be dropped

Well that was against Zimbabwe and now we are talking about SA. I am sure Zulfiqar would have done better if he played.

Don't get me wrong, I like AR but I think Zulfiqar is better With his varities and since SA probably haven't played him before he can be that x-factor.
 
he has looked ordinary but he is a far better bowler than Rehman so not unfair to drop him.

It's unfair to drop rehman because he averages less than 28...

If Rehman had failed in 1st match i would have called it a good decision, but Rehman hasnt put a foot wrong and we have dropped him, highly unfair
 
Babar seems more of a wicket taking threat than Rehman, who more often than not simply plays the supporting cast to Ajmal.


I can understand where the management is coming from, playing Ajmal and Babar together is potentially playing two Ajmals. I know Babar isn't as good as Ajmal but he is definitely someone in the same bracket as someone like Herath for example.

He has the potential to be world class unlike Rehman.

I think we should wait to see Zulfiqar bowling in 2nd innings. Abdur Rehman stats in 1st innings are also not very good.

32 is a decent average for a finger spinner in first innings...

BAbar has a huge task ahead, he has to perform better than rehman in this match or else get dropped in inext match

Abdur Rehman is a good spinner but we should also realize that some of his wickets in 2nd innings are because of the pressure build by Ajmal so i think Zulfi will get that benefit too in 2nd innings.

Rehman has bowled better than ajmal, most of the times they have played together...

I dont see any reason to drop Rehman, babar now has to perform or he'll perish in to wilderness, because he is replacing a quality bowler
 
Wasn't able to watch the first session, so can anyone tell me how Babar bowled?

From reading, it seems that he drifted towards the leg side and maybe bowled a bit too quick? Did he flight it, get any turn, or extract any bounce? Any variations?

Not much turn for him, relied mostly on arm ball, line was a bit off too
 
Raza Hasan is more of an ODI/T20 specialist.

Just because he is young doesn't mean we prefer him over Babar who is clearly a much better bowler at the moment.

This isn't the junior level, this is Test cricket and players who are good enough shall play regardless of their respective ages.

Thanks. Hopefully he'll settle down and ask a few more questions. Only day one against two quality batsmen. A wicket would do him a world of good.
 
Babar only performed good against a weak team and Raza Hasan performed very well in an international major tournament

Weak team? Although both of them only played in T20I but how many bowlers there are who got 3 wickets in debut T20 match, 2 in second match and 2 in third match?

He got 7 wickets in 3 matches and 5 of them against WI in his debut series.

Raza Hasan got 6 wickets in 7 T20Is.

Raza average 28 in FC after 23 matches, 66 Wickets

Zulfiqar average 20 in FC after 60+ matches, 300+ wickets

Raza performed in T20s. He himself claimed that he is good in shorter version. He has a terrible record in FC cricket.
 
If Abdur Rehman is injured then its a logical replacement
If Abdur Rehman sits out for Zulfiqar Babar then its a wrong call.
You'd think reading some of the posts that if you bowl next Ajmal you will automatically get wickets. Difference between play vs. watching the game.

Not automatically and he is a very fine bowler but when there is pressure from both sides thn batsman will probably try to take risk and attack the weaker one and i agree that's not Abdur Rehman fault that he is playing with Ajmal i do love watching these 2 bowling together.

So he is good enough to apply pressure as well...I hope the selection for Babar is not made on this criteria only - wickets will justify his selection, anything less, he should be out the next game, assuming Abdu Rehman is fit.

Yea what we need is performance from players for team so names are not the problem. Maybe Abdur Rehman was really facing some back issue and i know that if he was playing half fit every fan would be shouting at misbah for selecting him.
 
babar looks dissappointing today, but i believe he will bounce back
