“People regret taking hasty decisions when they are emotional" : Inzamam-ul-Haq on Amir retirement

Inzamam-ul-Haq speaking on his YouTube channel:

“Mohammad Amir has got too emotional and those close to him should advise him that people often regret taking hasty decisions when they are emotional"

“Amir could have spoken to Misbah-ul-Haq if he was having issues with the team management or Waqar Younis, as Misbah is the head of team management at the moment"

"Also, Amir could have easily approached PCB if Misbah didn’t respond”

“I feel that Amir should have a belief in his abilities as a player of his calibre can make a comeback and serve Pakistan for more years"

Lahore: Former off-spinner Saeed Ajmal asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to play their role in sorting out the difference between Mohammad Amir, Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ajmal said PCB should talk with all three parties and try not to waste a talented and experienced bowler like Amir.

“PCB CEO Wasim Khan should think about sorting out differences between Amir, Misbah, and Waqar. Amir is a good bowler and I think PCB should talk to him to convince him to take back retirement decision,” he said.

“Amir served his punishment for wrongdoings and he returned with a strong form. He won us so many matches and I wish he takes back his retirement,” he added.

It must be noted here that Amir took an indefinite break from international cricket after getting disappointed for ignorance by the current team management headed by Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.

No regrets by Amir. He will be free to earn big money now that he has always wanted

He is playing for a team called Pune something in the T10 league in January. Signs of what’s to come, he might just be allowed to slip into the IPL draft now if he has a valid indefinite leave to remain in England

He is not going to get big money for free. He will have to perform at a world class level to create the demand for T-20 Franchises to want to pay him those big bucks. If he doesn't perform he will get benched and then go unsold in the T-20 leagues. Andrew Symonds learn't the hard way and being benched by the Mumbai Indians eventually lowered his stock and he retired from the sport.

He will happily warm CSKs bench for $50-75K

Maybe earn $150k if he has a decent first season

Amir just needs one time million dollar contract in IPL, which I am sure he will get for obvious reasons once he is a British citizen. Then he is set for life after that and will run businesses in UK and earn money and retire peacefully. Whattay life for a boy coming from a small village.

Also Inzi is wrong. It’s not an emotional decision. It’s a well thought out, planned decision.
Amir is not the village idiot he tried to portray when caught fixing. He is very smart individual and knows when to do what, just like in bowling he gives his best effort when really required.
So this is a long term planning and I won’t be surprised to see him raking the Moolah in T20 leagues.
He is skillful and may well play in T20s for England at the age of 32-33 once he becomes citizen.

If he gets a million dollar contract you will see the passion in his eyes to represent Pune candy tuskers

Apparently Amir had communicated to the PCB that he wanted to announce his retirement from international cricket, the PCB told him to come down to the PCB headquarters and talk to the PCB officials and if he still did not change his mind, then the PCB will respect his decision and do a joint press conference, press release with him.

Unfortunately Amir caught them off guard by going to the media first himself.

Based on his performances, he will be lucky to even get a $300,000 contract tbh. Besides i doubt the Indians will want to pay any Pakistani that kind of money

I think he will get that kind of money. Amir is a big name in India and if he is British then and if it pisses the padosis, they would love to have him. Not that I agree with it but that’s the reality.

Amir isnt going to play in the IPL in this geopolitical climate where the two countries are literally at each other's throats.

If he somehow does it, or even tries for it, he will forever be disowned by the people back home.
He wont find a place to hide even, given his potential adopted place being the UK has swarms of overseas Pakistanis settled there.

Yes the people in UK wont let him off to easily

He doesn't merit that price based on his recent performances.

That’s extremely unprofessional behavior.

Amir has lack of passion for playing Pakistan team and lack of motivation to perform. Now-a-days his passion is making quick bucks without putting much effort playing franchise leagues. The talk of emotion is just rubbish and manipulative.

I reckon you are in a minority.

On the other hand, I feel plenty of Pakistanis or Pak-origin fans will be happy if he plays the IPL.

Some will look at it as a Pakistani having made it to the IPL despite India keeping them out.

Others will just be happy he's making a lot of money (at least his 1st season, he'll probably get a good deal).

And then there'll be a significant number who'll troll around, claiming he is making money off Indians and they don't even realize it - the way Shoaib Akhtar's lack of principles are often desperately explained away.

Inzi is 100% right.

In professional life, you are always told never to write an email in anger! Same applies to career changing decisions.

He was clearly goaded by people who had been filling his ears with rubbish.

There has never been as much anti-Pakistan sentiment in India as there is right now under Modi, and Pakistanis know that.

As a result, they have relinquished the 'aman ki aasha' narrative that was once pushed by previous regimes.

Imran Khan isn't an Indian peddler like Nawaz who had business interests there and had instructed the foreign office never to speak a word against the neighbours.

True to his cricketing days, he has been very vocal against India since the abrogation of article 370
and despite what a minority of agenda based posters may tell you here, his opinion holds a lot of value in the populace.

If Amir tries for the IPL in this climate, that too with a baggage of spot fixing, for which the entire nation gave him another chance and then having walked back on them again with his early retirement, he will instantly be branded as a traitor. I can assure you that.
And no, I am not in the minority. I live in Pakistan and am in a much better position to comment on how Pakistanis will react to this than you possibly believe.

No British Pakistani is obsessed enough or has enough time on his hands to try and make life difficult for Amir and his family in the UK just because he played in the IPL.

And if they are obsessed enough and have enough time on their hands to do so, then perhaps they need to reevaluate their lives.

And I doubt if he would care if Pakistan becomes unlivable for him. He would be living in the UK with an IPL contract. What more does he want.

If he had to pick between IPL and PSL, he is smart and rational enough to pick IPL with his eyes closed.

Amir has always wanted to make easy money. And good thing for him is that now he can do that by fair means.

He played really well by doing Rona Dhona over being mistreated by the management which has helped him gain some sympathy. Now Pakistan fans will be arguing over who was wrong between him and Waqar/Misbah, while Amir will be making money playing these franchises leagues all around the world.

If he were to play in the IPL, I'm quite sure Kohli would want him and RCB would try and outbid everyone else that had a limited interest in him. The result would be Amir walking away with a greater paypacket than his current bowling abilities deserve.

You'd then have viral interactions and fun-moments between Amir, Kohli and ABD. Are you sure, Pakistanis wouldn't care about these? And would actually be angry with Amir for it?

True giving a retired Pakistani cricket a million dollar contract would surely show Pakistan lol. But on a serious note, it would be funny to see Indians who wanted to isolate Pakistan, handing over big bucks to a washed up retired ex Pakistani cricketer.

Amir already signed up to play for Pune. Let him decides what’s best for him. Amir has done more to his country than the so called overseas Pakistanis. If they can have British passport Amir can also have. I would love seeing him in IPL. Infact I want all Pakistanis in IPL. Azhar Mahmood played IPL as British and no body made any issue when he became PCB bowling coach. Why double standards.

When you apply for Citizenship to another country, one of the questions on the application form is "Have you ever been convicted of a criminal offense?", Amir was convicted in the UK, what is the guarantee that the UK will easily grant him citizenship? It is one thing to get a temporary visit or work visa and even they have time limitations, stipulations but it will be really funny if the UK Immigration authorities kick out and reject his application for citizenship.
