“You (Babar Azam) were a fraud from the beginning”: Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib is 100% correct, Babar Azam was a mediocre cricketer with limited potential, the fact that he didn’t work hard to even achieve his full potential from that limited potential goes to show that he was a fraud.

The last superstar or genuinely good player Pakistan produced was Amir. Too bad he turned out to be a cheat/fixer. After Amir they haven’t been able to produce any world class player.
Except maybe Sachin , Yuvi and Rohit we have never had a complete batsman in playing X1, they always work on themselves and improve even the 3 I mention had to continuously evolve esp Sachin and Rohit.

Babar was definitely very good , his batting was that good but his reluctance to enhance his skills is the only reason he could be called Fraud not the skill promise he showed.

It doesnt work that way.

Munaf Patel > Waqar because former won World Cup?
False equivalence. Does Munaf have 300 test wickets like Waqar? Bobby has 32 international tons and will end up with 50+ Inds are doing bhangra over players like Dhawan who didn't achieve anywhere near as much.

Oh bhai what did his tons achieve? Which ton of his led to big wins for Pak in TESTS or ICC KO games?
This fraud gets picked again today, really pathetic!

Now Mohammad Yousuf also tearing apart Babar . Says he resigned cause they were not letting Babar to be dropped

I dont think he was a fraud. He can clearly bat, and when on song he can bat well. But he never took the time to elevate his game and rested on his laurels. He thought he was too good for a power game, and thought he was too important to bat at a better strike rate.

Players need to put in mega hard work to be successful and remain successful. Taking the example of Virat and Tendulkar that have been mentioned, no Pakistani player has even 25% of their capability to work hard and improve their game.
This is precisely what a fraud is by definition. You just exposed this bootleg Kohli wannabe even more accidentally while trying to defend.
This entire generation (RizBar, ShaSha, Rauf, Imam) is the most toxic obnoxious poisonous useless pile of garbage I have ever witnessed in my nearly 3 decades lifetime as a fan/follower.
As long as even single one of these piece of shits are given opportunity, Pak will continue to suffer. Every single of them needs to be permanently uprooted from team selection if PCB wants to stop the internal bleeding. Otherwise the suffering will continue.
Oh and Midbah "Tuktuk" Haq must be banned from any coaching/administrative /authoritative role forever.

I am not even 10% as famous /notorious as @Rana @SULTAN @topspin @Dr_Bassim or @GLORY OF '92 around here,(Apology for tagging🙏, just want to make my point) as I don't get to post often due to personal & professional hassle.

But I can profoundly say, apart from these guys, I am one of the fewest & earliest who have been advocating for years since their supposed golden peak of 2021, that this entire batch is nothing but a PR conjob.

Bunch of hacks, crybabies & backstabbers who have permanently sabotaged Pakistan cricket for decades to come.

It seems almost entire PP has now awakened from sleep & understood what we had understood atleast half a decade ago.
It's just way way too late, as these bunch of sissy boys have crippled Pak cricket for eternity. It's sad, disgusting & pathetic to see even after all these monumental embarrassments, there are still some blind fangirls existing who think RizBar, ShaSha should be valued & continued to play.

POTW week for me

@VForVendetta - you should post more bro

On a serious note, it's absolutely pathetic and ridiculous for us Indian fans who watched Pakistan cricket in the 90's decade to see what the team has become now. I certainly can't blame fans who watched the Pakistan team after 2010 because they can merely check scorecards from the 90's, but never really realise how things were during those days.

I wonder what those players go through when they see their current successors in the team. If I were them, I would be ashamed to death.

You were a fraud (Babar)
The weakest link in the team (Agha)

Akhtar sometimes does go over the board

Are there no other fraud there in the team atm???

People answer?
Pakistan already has three good spinners (Saim, Tariq, and Abrar). Shadab and Nawaz are not required.
I wouldn’t call Nawaz a complete fraud, but Shadab is clearly a fraud. Proper batsmen can be picked over both of them.

Based on his current form and past history in ICC tournaments, Babar can be called a fraud.
Shaheen is another dud, maybe even a fraud against top teams.

Found this on the internet, not sure if it’s true:

“- The only previous instance of Babar Azam not batting in a full 20-over innings in a t20 match, before the game against Namibia was his T20 debut for Lahore Eagles against Hyderabad Hawks where his team posted a total of 225/2.”

My take.

Around 2013 - 2016, the world started noticing 4 guys (batsmen) pulling away from the rest - ie VK, SS, JR and KW.

Just like in the 70's and 80's we had Botham, IK, Hadlee and Kapil.

The Pak media and public were hungry for a batmen to lead them and match these 4 guys, especially with retirement of legends like Inz, YK, Misbah etc.

The fact he had a name like Babar which gives the impression of grandeur or imposing was obvioiusly not his fault but this added to the imagery. I recently came to know he is related to the Akmal family, this comes with its own share of brickbats and bouqets, at the very least this adds onto the unwanted spotlight on him

However, in their desperation to match the top 4 guys, especially the King Kohli bit, pak media both traditional and SM started this whole King Babar/emperor etc gravy train.

Which meant a really good batsman was under thrice the pressure everytime he walked out to bat, than what he would have, if left alone. unwanted really.

Now i do not know the inner machinations of pak cricket or if he was a manipulator or selfish or he stunted growth of any youngsters or deliberately let his team down, but he was put on a pedestal which was far above his ability as a batsman, a leader, a captain. And this affected his performance.

the true hallmark of a coach/manager is to make a guy perform much more than he/she thinks they are capable of.

for eg - Ravi Shastri pulled some magnificient performances of at times, an ordinary indian team. Imagine if Ravi was our work place manager, or even Ravi handled Babar. I do feel at times those in your management circles should have taken the focus off him, they didnt -rather they magnified this on him.

The game moved on, more and more innovative strokes came to the fore, power hitting is the norm, strike rates are analysed more keenly, i feel Babar did not innovate or what is actually sad here, he never displayed the intention to innovate or the fierce inner desire that can make an average talented player into a good one. For eg Ravi was a LH spinner but he worked hard at his batting and made himself a good batsman.
The mark of a person, the inner character of any one in any field of life is their attitude is when they are challenged in their non areas of strength, or outside their traditional domain.
For eg a batsmen when he becomes a part time bowler or a bowlers attitude when aske to bat.
Check guys like Saqlain mushtaq when batting - he always fought-never wanted to give his wicket cheaply - similarly jason gillespie or chris woakes and also check the attitude of batsmen who part time bowled like Jaisuriya or Ammer Sohail or yuvi especially in 2011 wc -they bowled with an attitude to take wickets, make a difference and win.

i never saw that burning desire in Babar, i feel he felt his inherent talent was enough. this plus his natural soft spoken, timid demeanour did him no favours.

I defo do not think he is a fraud. At worst he was over hyped, a product of the SM times we live in.

As an indian am sick of the derogratory memes sometimes one sees on the internet. End of the day this dude is honestly representing his country, something much more than these cheap memers have ever done or contributed in their lives.

Leave him alone.

Farhan minnow basher who is crap vs SENA+India
Tulla Agha crap against everyone but minnows
Duck collector Saim who ahs gone under the radar because of his bowling
Salman Agha is the most useless and worthless player in the history of this game, at least Farhan has some strong performances, Saim comes good with the ball more often than not, Babar fans can cite his past exploits, however debatable, but what the actual duck did Salman ever do to have the privilege of leading the team?

Welcome back bro. Your posts have been missed.

I still remember the raised eyebrows after the 2021 WT20 semi‑final against Australia. Yes, Shaheen’s death bowling was poor, but the real architects of that defeat were Babar and Rizwan. What we saw from them that night was timid, self‑preserving batting - exactly the kind of approach you’d expect from an opening pair shaped under Misbah’s conservative mindset. Even then, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt.

But the wake up call came after the embarrassing loss to Sri Lanka in the 2022 Asia Cup final. And later that year, their batting in the 2022 WT20 was nothing short of dreadful. Babar Azam went through an entire tournament striking at less than run a ball. That should have been the moment when everyone realised it was time to either drop him from T20Is or nudge him towards retirement from the format. Yet here we are with parts of the fanbase still four years behind reality.

I’ll give special credit to @Rana, who was the first to point out that this opening combination was just another product of Misbah’s outdated and substandard cricketing philosophy.

Thanks bro, just too busy.

I can relate bro. I wish I could post more often but to the demands of my role, I don't have the time and energy to post on here as frequently as I used to.

Don't agree with the anti Misbah stuff. Without him Pakistan cricket would have died on 2010. Very simple.

Middle order batsman Pakistan can replace Babar with players from other Associate teams

Ranjane
Manenti
Grant stewart
Sanjay Krishnamoorthy
Berrington
Scott Edwards
Tucker
DS Airee

I think retired Pakistani cricketers become really bitter, real fast. They have no self respect and it shows in their rants.

Babar may not be a good player - but the way ex Pakistan cricketers are running their mouths on him and others, it speaks to their character, not much else.

Babar will do the same in future criticize players complain about something.... Maybe even defend his captaincy stint. It would be boring if we didn't hear peoples true opinions.

Mohammad Hafeez: "Mike Hesson observed that Babar’s strike rate is too low for the first six overs, yet he also struggles to accelerate after the tenth. This raises the obvious question: if he can't produce during either of those phases, why is he in the team at all?"

Shoaib Akhtar: "Ideally, Babar should have recognized himself that he doesn't quite fit this format. Barring that, the team management should have at least committed to letting him bat through the powerplay to see if he could make an impact."

Other Panelists: The central dilemma is that if Babar Azam isn't permitted to bat at number three, his inclusion in the side at number four becomes entirely unjustifiable.

Akhtar has milked his career but he never won us anything of note. What big away test series did we win? What ICC tournament did we win with him? Now this clown sits and talks smack about players who have won ICC tournaments and WC match vs India.

You are actually correct the dude never actually won us anything of note. Individually unbelievably talented bowler who the world will always remember but lack of discipline and genuine love of the game cost him legendary status. We speak about him in pure nostalgia nowadays due to his aura but the truth is he had a very poor career in terms of actual achievement

I don’t think he comes across as that type of guy and Rizwan would not do it either. Even now these guys don’t come out with interviews criticising their own team mates or fight with their own teammates. It takes a very specific type of character to come on tv and shamelessly belittle people openly
