What a day for Test match cricket!

Just when you thought Aussie was the only team that could lose this game.....

but now true test of character for WI.

Oh Windies. Why do you always do this, look like worldbeaters for all of half a test, and then a club side shortly after.

what a turnaround, Till Day 3 you could have put all your money on the Windies but the momentum shift towards Australia right now makes you want to pull your hair out. Bloody hell. Windies sometime makes you cry.

They strike a bit too close to home don't you think, heh

This is going to be a really hard grind. I think we're still in with a sniff though. Just need to bat through to tea and try and get to 400. Then we can see who blinks first after tea and early on day 5.

Pup did exactly what I was thinking lol. Get to 400 and make a game of it. Looks like they blinked first.

This was expected , but what amazes me is the pitch . Few days ago it was a dead-track and now it's seaming, bouncing, turning , Hell it's cooking/cleaning even ! . Although the Windies batsmen played below par but the bowling was top notch and the captaincy spot on .

I hope Windies stretch the lead past 200 somehow and make this into an old-school Caribbean dog-fight . Deonarine is a favorite of mine and I really want to him to do well here .

Was Australia's declaration strategic or just a pompous gesture?

We want to win the match, not draw it. Pup has shown he is willing to lose the match for a chance to win it. They've given themselves a great opportunity to win, and to demonstrate that a) a Test match requires you to play well for FIVE days; and b) the OZ will never lay down and give up. We still have control of our destiny.

I guess that's why they've managed to stay at the top for the past decade and and a half so.

Well we're not really on top right now...I think we're ranked 5th lol. But trying not to drop down too much more.

The thing I like the most about Pup is how he challenges his team to stand up for him. He's prepared to back his misfiring and dodgy attack to take wickets when he really needs them to. Had they failed, then we would have deserved to lose the game, end of. They did what they needed to do today, take 5 top order wickets. But it's not over yet - they need to wrap up this WI tail quickly and then the batting order needs to redeem themselves as well. He's applying the blowtorch not just to the WI, but to his own team as well - challenging them to stand up for him and win the Test match. There will be nowhere for the team to hide if they don't perform - no excuses that it was meandering to a draw, no hiding behind safety and mediocrity. He wants them to stand up to be counted, so he can see what they are made of.

And in a way, he's also given the WI a chance to show him what THEY are made of, now that the rubber is meeting the road.

I thought it was a very bold move. He understands that the game of cricket, like most top level sport, is as much mental as physical.

Interesting to see W.I batting mind set now as this game is pretty much a one inns shoot out and W.I could well likely lose this with abad 2nd inns batting display!

Wouldnt be shocked if w.i do lose this game now. W.I pretty much lost all momentum in game after lunch on day 4.

windies did this THRICE vs india. not really surprised. while i am still cheering for them(not cause i hate aussies or anything) but still methinks aus will win else draw due to bad weather. but former seems more likely.

OZGOD I was referring to the purple years in which Ponting led the ODI team too, it's gone downhill ever since his departure from the shorter format of the game because as you put iit there's just no one to apply that blowtorch. Although it is a good thing ina way, constantly winning/losing an become kind of monotonous.

Its because you believe in them and they let you down time and time again, I know, I'm a Pakistani fan.

yeah. windies people must be so used to it they would be desensitized by it i guess.

its sad that players like chanders, sarwan, even lara had to carry this team for much of their career. lara atleast got a taste of the great windies briefly. chanders and especially sarwan didnt all.

i mean you got players of lara and chanders' class. and you got players like sylvester joseph, cameron cuffy, marlon black. no doubt hard triers but not good enough to be in the team with class acts like lara.

I can never imagine India declaring behind. Not Dhoni anyway as he does not trust the bowlers much.

Anyway Today's another day and I hope for their own sake they can draw this one, especially since the last year or so has been a good year for the minnows and the fallen.

Pakistan achieving the unachievable, Bangladesh coming into good and most importantly consistent form as a unit, and hopefully losing their minnows tag once and for all. WI almost winning the ODI series and leveling the T20s.

Heck Windies can still win- that is how Oz would be thinking in their position. Never give the game away.

If they can bat well & grab a lead of 250 or so, then have 50-55 overs to bowl Oz out it can be done. No point entering a day negatively. Go for the gold boys.

Baugh and sammy need to be positive and play some shots. No point poking around and trying to survive and play against their natural game. W.I wont bat this game out for a draw! So try and build a big a target as possible for aussies to chase.

if windies can stretch the lead to 220 or so then this could become such an exciting much

WI @ 115/7. They need 50 runs in about 15-20 overs to make this match really entertaining now. So far, the batting displays no planning.

oh dear

west indies continuing to fold, michael clarke was giving them a sniff with that declaration, against the west indies it was a risk he was willing to take.

It will take a hurculean effort by Roach, Edwards & Bishoo to save this one.

They disappointed with the ball (Roach excepted) so a contribution here would be nice.

And I maybe bad luck for WI today too, almost got Roach out as soon as I resumed watching, Im afraid the the fall of Edwrds was my fault too.

speaking of superstitions, WI could still draw If James predicted against me. If I predict a draw and James an Aussie win no matter hat he thinks, it just might work.

The IPL commentators if heard out of context could be mistaken for a couple of guys suffering from an array of medical issues whilst using catch phrases such as "breath taking", spine tingling" , "heart stopping", "nerve wrecking etc

Come one WIndies !! 192 to chase in 60 overs!!! Get Top order down early and you can believe!! Get Warner asap!! and game is on!

unlikely, Watson, Clarke and Hussey are in form. A little blinder by Warner will cut down the chase to minimal. Let's not forget strong Aus. tail. however, Bishoo holds a key of getting tailenders if game do reach that stage.

190 is certainly defendable. Our bowling isn't all that bad.

But realistically, barring a dump of foul weather, the Aussies have almost got this in the bag already. Brave aggressive declaration by Clarkeyboy, he was willing to take the slight risk of being skittled in the last innings and conceding the match. Sporting stuff. :imran

Come on Aussies. Cannot believe I'm saying that. They've played the more aggressive cricket latter-half of the Test and deserve more than a draw or loss. Windies have thrown this away I feel.

Even during the crunch times Australia were cruising along at 3.5 to 4 runs to the over. So with 62 overs remaining they could reach the target at 3 runs per over. The only WI can win this is by bowling Australia out, I hope Bishoo will have a better day with the ball.

One thing's for sure Aus are going to come out all guns blazing and make as much runs as they can off the new ball

you're using your head rather than your heart, which is no fun when it comes to sport, unless you have something riding on the outcome, Goooooooo Underdogssssssss.

Do you mind me asking here you're from

Rain to throw another twist into this Test.

It has rarely rained for long in this match so I think we will still see play, but reduced overs could make it very, very interesting as a run chase - 191 off 50 overs or so is hard in a test on day 5.

191 off even 60 was hard to chase on this 5th day wkt. WI wins here or draw. No chance for AU.

Windies have bottled it, will be hoping for another cloudburst.

Not so far. I was timing and Roach raced through that last over in 4 minutes!

5 is average.

6 is a bit slow.

I expected 6 !

You sneaky devils, the idea hadn't even crossed my innocent mind. Having said that even if it means a one match ban resulting in a win due to a very slow over rate, I'd take one for the team.
