2015 World Cup Result : India trounce South Africa by 130 runs

Probably most one sided game in Ind-SA history where India won.

Great win :108:

I do applaud India at being really good at this form of cricket on flat wickets.

I just hate cricket in which the bowlers can't bowl. Which is why I hated Paksitan's recent Test wins over Australia and New Zealand, on wickets on which no-one ever got caught in the slips or by the keeper. Sport isn't sport when you take the sport out of it.

No one was ever caught behind because these batsman seem to have a technique to leave the ball. Didn't you see enough cught behinds yesterday (1/4)

Yeah bro.

Was awesome.

Finally everything is clicking for us except death batting.

All our bowlers did well.

And a huge relief as Jaddu delivered a great performance today. Was clearly the better spinner today. Stats won't show it but he got us ABDV wicket for us with those 4 dot balls (and of course aided by ABDV's choking :)) ).

Things are falling in place. Hope we build upon.

Death batting is main issue.

Jaddu was decent and should get more games but unless he contributes with bat,Binny might be better option.

Bhuvi if fit can replace Yadav too

Now its clear for us.

We need 2 spinners. One has an average day, other can step up.

Binny might be a risk.

And Jaddu has to work on his batting.

And Ashwin has to stop being a useless waste of space when it comes to batting. He keeps practicising slogs but doesn't connect in a real game.

You need an out and out pacer like Yadav. All this works as a combo.

If Bhuvi can come, he can do so only at the spot of Mohit and no one else.

As of now, no spot for him.

saw on TV.That Pakistani guy in original ad is cheering for SA and after loss he goes out and Indian guy hands him UAE jersey :)))

Hope people take it well :msd

Utterly brilliant.

Star Sports taking it to the next level.

Looks like it will be genuinely funny without insulting anyone.

Binny might be better suited on these pitches imo.Did well in tri series

Mohit has done great and is fast enough.Shami too can provide enough pace

Yadav is only one whos looking poor except 2-3 overs. But yeah rather not mess with combo just yet.I just feel more comfortable with Bhuvi :)

Score board pressure cannot get you a 130 run win. Top performance by India, with bat and ball. The two run outs were incredible too.

I too would feel more comfortable with Bhuvi.

But the right bowling composition strengthens every bowler.

For example in a tough game, when nothing is working, you can ask Umesh to bowl a few short ones and get yo a breakthrough (like he did in CT 2013 game against SA).

If you have Shami, Mohit and Bhuvi...you don't have anyone to ask that unless you are willing to gamble away precious Shami's overs.

Shami can do that job imo.Yadav is too wayward and can lose the game.Too big a risk in knockout games.

Right AbDV you were chirping about keeping Indian supporters quiet and Domingo you were barking about ripe takings?

And those rating a young de kock??

Talking about middle overs.

Shami's overs are needed at the death and during powerplays.

Testing against minnows should give us a better idea.

Shami can bowl 2 in middle overs too if needed.

Umesh might do well vs minnows as they are not used to that pace. But against better sides in knockouts, you need a reliable guy and he isnt one

These south Africans are only good within their country in Odis..out of SA they are cows on way to becoming Biltong

We just Brai'd this lot..even Pakistan showed more spine

At the expense of his death and batting power play overs.

Which is a risk for us cos he is 50% of our bowling.

Didn't get to watch the game but I was pretty sure that it would be the other way around tbh :))

Any way congrats India well played. Good to see Rahane doing well. Champion. Also that mean India should top the group now so we'll have to finish in the top 3 in our group to have any chance of going past the QFs. Not looking good atm :))

Yes but if and only if things are tough that risk can be taken.

Yadav can potentially do that but otherwise hes a liability and the way hes going it can easily cost us in knockouts. Not everytime others will cover up for him

You would do well to focus on qualify first.Afghans gave you a real scare.BD next :shakib

soso_killer any views?:msd

Lol, I don't have any as I missed the whole match.
I'll have to catch the highlight, I want to see if we fell in the trap of bowling too short especially against a team who has been in Australia for 3 months. That would really be stupid.
I want to see the nature of the pitch, I heard a few mumours that it was dry-ish prior to the game (which sounded like an excuse cover up)
We have to do away with these stupid run out in chases, its not the 1st and won't be the last time either which is annoying.
Parnell just bowled himself out of the side for good.
100+ run defeat is a proper pasting in anyone book.
But congrats to India for topping the group.

(PS: will still win the WC though just don't you might induce a choke) ;)

...Philander's hamstring didn't help either, if he is out of wc then hopefully de Lange comes in. I like his aggressive bowling and raw pace.

When I switched over to the Ind VS RSa match i saw Rehane and Dhawan Pounding steyn. I expected India choke but lol at RSA. Forever they will be chokers but can't take credits away from India. So did India bowl well or RSA threw their wickets away ?

Bangla would prolly beat us :)) Marvan and co have completely screwed up the side last few months with this 3 bowler strategy and test batting line-up. Absolute clowns.

you guys where giving excuses for the pitch being falt when India batted & now excuses for this pitch being diffuclt to bat on when chasing ? Wow just wow

Pitch flat excuse is nonsense. Indian batted very well. Dahwan and Kohli laid the platform but for me it was Rahane who took the game away by his brilliant knock. This young man will go distance. Currently, I rate him as the best Asian test batsman in non-Asian conditions.

I'm not sure that too many people who aren't Indian or Sri Lankan would tune into watch these depressing batfests, but they are very good in these conditions.

Not sure about you but huge crowd will turn up to watch WC games and they don't have to be Indians or SLcans.

Run chase is always a problem but game was taken away due to brilliant batting by Rahane. Dude changed the tempo of the game. Pitch was bit slower but got quicker in 2nd half. We were in trouble due to Vern not able to bowl and then this great Parnell. He is bowling garbage right now. He better not play and do this in knockout game.

I am bit puzzled to be honest. SL always beat minnows comfortably. I guess Murali and Malinga bowling well used to do that but I recall Vaas doing it few times as well.

Correct, not comfortably SL usually trashes minnows. However, there is a huge difference between minnows of 2015 and minnows of 2005.

In the past, I don't think any minnow team had 3 pacers who clocks 140K+ consistently.

Biggest issue is Marvan actually. When they decided to make him the head coach I knew it was trouble especially heading into a WC. First he absolutely ruined Chandi and Thiri after he was made the batting coach. Now the guy has turned a side which won the Asia cup and T20 WC not too long ago into a side which is getting beat by Zimboks and co. Pathetic fitness levels. Rubbish fielding. Defensive and pre-dated tactics. Poor selections. Chopping and changing after pretty much every game. That's what Marvan has brought to the table. After the WC you watch what happens. Vass who has actually done a remarkable job with the quicks will be the one who'll be blamed for everything. That's SLC clowns for you. After the WC things will only get worse.

True but we are also playing some rubbish cricket.

Three bowlers and a test batting line-up ain't going to win you many OD games these days. Take out useless Jeevan and Dimuth and replace them with Sena/Eranga and Kusal. Also open with Mahela. Makes a huge difference to the side.

Mahela
Dilly
Sanga
Thiri
Mathews
Kusal
Perera
Sena/Eranga
Herath
Malinga
Lakmal

But of course Kusal and Eranga are not even in the squad.

Great confidence this indian team is gaining. Still not at the peak like India were during QF 2011 WC. But India may gain that peak by the time they reach QF.

Rahane is fulfilling Yuvi's role very nicely.

Rahana played such a lovely knock today; The one which he belted on the rise through extra covers was brilliant; A great batsman in the making, all round stroke player...A future star for world cricket.

Also, great to see Dhawan scoring a brilliant hundred... His confidence is back now and hopefully he should carry this momentum throughout the tournament.
Junaids -- Search for more excuses now... I have been watching you for sometime now, and the way you come up with some 'ingenious' reasons in downplaying India... It is quite laughable really ... You are not far behind one Mr.Mobashir in this regard :)

You are no different to Mobashir...but at least Mobashir is quite open is his hatred to India, but yours is through subtlety ..

Yah, many things looks wrong with current SL team. Vaas has actually done a good job with whatever bowlers he had at his disposal. I remember same bowlers bowling with discipline in test series in UAE and in Eng. He should not be blamed.

Some one in SL needs to play freely. I feel you have few batsmen who can play 80(90) kind of knock but 120(90) is missing. I feel only Mathews has it in him to go big and also score quick. Jaya can do it but not his regular style. Since SL does well in WCs, I won't be worried much right now but basics are not looking bright right now.

I'm more interested with our lengths, how did we bowl?
Did we pitch it up or short? Did we simply bowl garbage? Our fielding has been lamented in the media, that bad?
You mentioned Rahane ahead of Dhawani, did he alter the cause of the game more? I'll catch the highlights tomorrow on SS2 during my day off.

1700+ posts? 22 pages?
Didn't realise this game was that important.
What's fuelling the discussion, can't go through 22 pages in my current condition.

Summary:
South Africa bowled a good line in the first 10 overs, though not many wicket taking deliveries;

After the initial PP of 10 overs, India played with dominance, milked the middle overs and explosion started from Second Power Play. In between, Amla dropped a catch, not a difficult catch by his safe catching standards...

The only bowler who stood out was Imran Tahir during his initial 8 overs or so, at least he contained a bit; Steyn bowled a decent opening spell, but nothing great compared to his own standards; Morkel as usual bowled just short of good length and was not threatening at any point of time, barring few balls that rose sharply from good length;

After the carnage they were handed out, a more familiar story of SA was played...
When under the pump of scoring over 6 an over, they collapsed and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Amal looked shaky and nervous; FAF played a scratchy innings and top edged at least 2 times just over the keeper and eventually his luck ran out...
AB was looking dangerous when he got out by a good throw from Mohit Sharma...

Seems like SA is not going anywhere deep in the tournament ... A QF/SF exit is on the cards...

Tahir and Steyn bowled well but there was no sustained pressure from both ends any time. Parnell was bowling pure garbage. In fact fact, part timers did a decent job early on but you can't expect them to do much in later stages. I still thought that we should have chased it.

Problem was not able to pick wickets in middle overs when we were bowling. Steyn bowled some good yorkers in late stage otherwise score would have been even higher. I will give credit to Rahane to take the game away. he played very well form the get go.

AB needs to stop running himself out, simple as that.
He always seems comfortable at the pitch but finds a way to get himself out.

Yah, that's the most disappointing way to get out when looking so good. Hopefully, we had our worst game out of the way now.
