2015 World Cup result | NZ beat South Africa by 4 wickets in a nail biting encounter

ICC is giving stupid vie where. Trying to complete this match in one day with reduced overs is a stupid idea when you can play full 50 overs by extending it in reserve day.

The people who bought tickets and planned this day in advance would want to see it to the end. The game is played for the fans

Then NZ will go through due to being placed higher in their group. I have no problem with that extreme situation.

But I don't understand why can't we play full 50 overs by continuing whenever game starts today. That's seems like a obvious option to me but not sure why ICC wants to finish game today with reduced overs. Doesn't make much sense to me to not use reserve day to get full 50 overs game.

NZ dont deserve to win with their atrocious fielding today.
You don't win games by dropping 3+ catches

From cricbuzz-

Loud cheer from the crowd at Eden Park as the covers are being removed. The groundsmen are working on drying the outfield. The big rope is being used to clear the water. There is a lot of water gathered on the cover as well. So, it will take a few minutes before play resumes.

I wonder if SA will read their Duckworth Lewis sheet correctly this time? :yk

Ohh c'mon don't puss out now. Haven't you pulled all nighters before?

LOL, if it were Pakistan playing then I'd have no school tomorrow. Got a physical chemistry lab tomorrow early in the morning. Can't let my partner down.

If rain spolis play for saffers. Then i don't think the world cup is meant for them. They should just stop showing up

Play to resume in 15 minutes! :D

Unfair to SA, as they are doing well at the moment.

Hearing that game resumes at 6.45pm. Reduced to 43 overs a side. Five overs to go. Southee can bowl two, Henry one. Anderson and friends will have to bowl the remaining two.

That's so unfair for South Africa :(

Not good for SA, they could have score 350 and just bat out NZ, now with 270, NZL has a chance

They're just gonna slog and try to make 60ish off the 5, which would get them around 250-260. Solid total and NZ will be tested.

Imagine if NZ was in good position then do you think that fans won't come back to watch next day? Will they prefer to finish the game by reducing the overs due to logistics?

And for all practical purposes, world wide fans are watching the game. Those 40K crowd is good but we have millions watching it all over the world. Game is being played for all of us and not for only those 40K crowd.

CI: Southee can bowl two, Henry one. Anderson and friends will have to bowl the remaining two. And only one over of Powerplay left

43 overs, I guess Kiwis 'll have to chase around 320. SAF 'll be bowling 8 overs of 4th & 5th bowler.

SA needs these two to bat through. I reckon it will be an adjusted target so even if these two manage to get to 260, NZ may have to chase close to 300 in 43 overs.

250+ will not be easy lol. Especially under lights, with the scoreboard/semi-final pressure with a quality SA attack. I guarantee you that Guptill/Mccullum won't come good. This game will depend on Williamson and whether or not he plays a long innings.

Another 30 balls and you can expect at least 60 runs and max of 80 runs from here on 265-285 may be the target for nzl

It will be a stiff target but I would have preferred NZ to chase 350 in 50 overs. They would have been pretty much out of the game with 350.

No, with new calculations, target will be moved higher in all likelihood.

Is it. Dan has bowled 9, Boult also 9, so only 1 more bowler can bowl 9, either Southee 2 or Henry/Southee one each. I am not sure though.

its a small ground & I dont think 350 is safe aganst the home side here . SA would be favs but they would not have batted NZ out .

Even the last game WI where at 250 in ~30 overs , so its chasable here

A reminder that whatever South Africa will be adjusted. For example if they end up with 280, the revised target will be 297 in 43 overs

I agree. The opening 10 overs will be crucial. I don't expect Abbott to do well against NZ.

I am confused target will move based on wickets in hand now or at theme of 43rd over??

Right now target was 264 in 38 overs.

If South Africa score 280 after 43, NZ will chase 297 in 43. Easy, compared to the guaranteed 400 score that was on the way.

We are ready to go. Think we can stop cribbing about D/L. It makes sense to try to finish the game tonight. Who knows what the weather will be like tomorrow? And those saying this is unfair on South Africa are assuming AB de Villiers would have batted all of the remaining 12 overs. And remember they decided to bat knowing there was rain forecast. I am sure if you asked AB, he will not complain about this one bit

AB is in, as is Faf, and NZ would have had to bowl at least three overs worthy of part time filth in the last ten. South Africa would definitely have scored 400+.

South Africa still in a great position looking at the track record of this ground: Australia nearly defended 150, Pakistan successfully defended 222 #cricinfo trolling
