I think it will be the 4 big western teams this time around since it's in England

England
New Zealand
Aust
South Africa

England will look the team of the tournament before losing to NZ in a heart breaking semi, while SA will let a good position go to lose to Australia in the other semi.

Australia to bully NZ & win the final comfortably.

India could well be a semi finalist too, but I can't realistically see any other side outside of them getting past those 4 teams above to make a semi.

Teams like SL, Pakistan & the WI just don't play ODI cricket at the level those others do to be able to string a run of wins together.

Who are your semi finalists?

England, South Africa, Australia and India in that order. I see England taking the trophy home this year. I can't believe it has been 4 years already since the last champions trophy.

Australia, England and NZ are in the same group. how can three of them come to semifinal. it is mostly INdia, SA, England and Australia. there is a very even chance of Pakistan making it to the top four

Pakistan
They are led by lionheart Sarfraz and have a nice blend of experience and young talent. Best bowling attack with lots of variety.
Sri Lanka
Play with an unparalleled freedom and passion for the game. Handy all-rounders and lots of power.
Bangladesh
Have an attacking flair about them. Always have crowd support. Prolific top order.
New Zealand
Darkhorses. Good under pressure and do well in tournaments. Conditions will suit them.

Fair enough I hadn't bothered to look at the groups.

Wow, that's one tough group then.

I don't think New Zealand will make the cut against Australia and England in their group. Pakistan and Bangladesh won't fare well against India and South Africa either. It will probably be England, Australia, India and South Africa.

Same bowling attack that got pummelled for 444?

Hasan is inconsistent, Amir lacks impact and the less said about Junaid the better.

Even India's bowling attack is stronger than ours.

Eng
Oz
India
SA

Eng v Oz Final

Eng to take this one :broad

In England, the Pakistani bowling line up will be smacked to all corners of the park and with no Sharjeel, Pakistan would struggle to chase even 250.

South Africans are chokers don't see them getting to the semi finals. Pak have a good chance of beating them.

India will be out in group stage. Their batting will flop in England.

If India's batting will be flopping imagine what our batting would be doing lmao.. We have Kami, Shehzad and Hafeez in our top four.

India are shallow on bowling. 5th bowler is weak. Part timers will get smashed. Over reliant on Kohli. Swing will rip apart their batting. Don't have a player with an x-factor. Lazy mentality. Chicken hearted players. Won't get very far. Might beat SA if lucky.

SA lack in fast bowling. Only Rabada is good, but expensive too. Rest are rubbish. They are emotionally weak players too. Poor under pressure.

Australia has weak batting. Poor techniques and will struggle against swing. Mentally weak players. Lack focus and discipline as a team.

England has poor fast bowling. Also bad fielding. Drop too many catches. No energy as a team. Too much big hitting and over reliance on big shots. Cutting out boundaries will limit their scores. They have a chance, but it's tough.

Would be a mighty effort for BD do go through considering they looked clueless in NZ recently.

Yeah i know...a series in alien condition after 6-7 years made it hard in NZ....BD will have lots of practice on alien condition before CT and that's why i hope they will reach to the Semis with the expat's support as there is huge amount of bdeshi's in uk

Pakistan will be in do or die situation they've no option but to win atleast two matches in CT2017 for direct qualification. Under an aggressive captain like sarfraz we'll go for the kill.

You have to go for kill. There are no draws in ODIs. Either win or lose.
:yk

Imad, Sarfraz, Shadab, Amir , Hassan, Babar will be the key for us. They are passionate players and won't be easy to handle for the opposition.

India will be mentally shattered as Kohli has poor record in England. Their chances are slim. SA are chokers. Bangla and NZ buckle under pressure.

Fantasies come with expiry dates, in this case June 2017.

Just read on cricinfo, KL Rahul out of CT. That is a huge hit to India's chances. More so because they would have to play a dud like Rahane in place of Rahul.

Might actually be good, we might go for pant in the squad.

Stop watching cricket please.. at least stop making stupid comments.

LOL. Eng, NZ and Aus all fall in one group so they wont qualify to semis at the same time.

Pakistan cannot win just because Sarfraz is captain.

You need to have a team.

Do people really look at how loud a player is before deciding if he's the next version of Imran Khan.

Pakistan may make it, but to say they will make it just because of Sarfraz....

Well now you know how intelligent PP posters are...

India will definitely be there...

England Aus and South Africa and India will be the 4 semi finalists if everything goes to form.

Sarfi and Babar will take us to Semis. You read it here first. Bookmark it.

1. Pakistan
2. Australia
3. England
4. South Africa

India and Pakistan not reaching the semis will kill off all the excitement for me. Ultimately whichever team wins the tournament will do so by their merit, but I want those two teams to make the semis.

So simple.

England
Australia
South Africa
India

The only team that can potentially sneak in, is New Zealand.

Might actually be good, we might go for pant in the squad.

Don't think BCCI will take the risk of sending a newcomer to the CT. Also, are you sure Pant is equally good on swinging wickets?

An India-Pak final would be great. Just imagine how much money ICC would make..

South Africa
India
England
New Zealand

I'm being brave and saying Aus will lose to both NZ and England!

My money is on Ind, SA, Aus and pick one from NZ/Eng

Pakistan batting is not up to the standard.
Sri lanka is pretty much in rebuild mode ATM.
Bangladesh is going to most likely have the worst time. In the toughest group in an alien condition. Might win just one match at most.

Thing about India is they only need to beat us and SL to qualify for the semis. So don't worry about there flaws too much!

From Pakistan's group.

1) SA
2) India

From England's group.

1) England
2) Australia

SA v Aus and Eng v Ind semi finals

Final will be: SA vs Eng

No I won't stop watching cricket; but I am sorry if my comments offended you.
:amla

There is no point in watching cricket if you can't understand the game. India has won more tournaments than any other sub-continental teams. Out side Asian teams only Australia has won more world cups/other tournaments than India.

The biggest chockers in world cricket are 1. SA 2. Pak 3. NZ

Ah, so cricket lis only about World cups?

a typical indian excuse. check out Pak-Indo stats and then match our level bro.

ODI cricket is only about world cups and Champions trophies .Everything else particularly these bilaterals are just meaningless .
No one cares about them or even remember them next day.

Too early to say but England and Australia are in.

India, SA, Pakistan will fight for other two spots.

Pakistan may as well not even show up to this tournament.

IND, SA, AUS and ENG are favourites for a semi-final spot with NZL as the dark horse.

Don't count out NZ. They are very much capable of stealing one of the spots from England or Australia. Pakistan is too weak to be even in contention. I think the three contenders from the other group are SL, Ind and SA. While Pak will be the whipping boy of all three teams. Whichever teams beat us by the greatest margin will be advancing.

Agreed. I should not count out NZ but England is in and slight edge to Australia over NZ.

You are underestimating Pakistan. Like I said they have a shot at semi finals.

My problem with India is the fools who do the selection. Our bowling is good but batting is a big unknown. I am sticking by what I said.

The biggest thing in cricket by far is the WC. Even CT, which is the "baby WC" has been getting much more attention than any other event on PP for the last year. If you don't believe me just go back and count the number of threads and posts about the CT.

When "baby WC" gets so much attention, you can well imagine how important the real WC is to cricket fans.

:uakmal at my fellow pakistani's who think we have a chance of beating SA and India.
For us to even beat Bangladesh we need Babar, Sarfraz, Malik, Amir, Hasan and Shadab to fire and that happening in the same match is not going to happen.

Im all in for being positive, but we have to stay a bit realistic.

I dont understand why a team with malik, hafeez, shehzad, sarfaraz, one akmal, azhar is not being ranked to make a quarterfinal spot.
I mean hafeez has been performing for last few years blah blah and malik has made a bradman like comeback to the odi team.

Pakistan will not make the quarterfinals because there are none. Group games and then straight to the semis.

The bookies currently favor England, who are at 3.33.

They are followed by Australia at 3.5, SA at 4 and India at 5.5.

The bottom half is NZ 9, Pakistan 18, SL 33 and Bang 50.

Good news for Bang is their neighbors started the 1983 WC at 50 :)

While I respect bookies as it is people who do this for a living, I seriously doubt that SA or England have a better chance of winning the trophy than India.

To be safe if in doubt always go with bookies.

History? Cricket is watched for entertainment and nothing makes history exciting, whether someone has not won a world cup or won 4 of them, its meaningless. All you expect is to get entertained from the future matches.

Who said that series are more popular than tournaments? But to check head to head stats, better go for bilaterals than comparing WC records.

That is your preference. Most who follow cricket do not care about JAMODIs played in Jamonagar but do care about the WC and CT.

I have a neighbor who cares very much about Little League hurling for junior boys, but not many more do.

Batting Pakistan to beat India is a matter of faith and not reflective of recent reality. No harm in having faith

In any ODI match the outcome is unpredictable (except when the "Saudis" play the Chinese I suppose). So Pakistan could indeed beat India, it only takes for a few unlucky shots for a team to lose its major batsmen.
