2021-31: India hosts 5 ICC events and England hosts 1. What is the point of Big 3?

India has hosted the 2021 T20 World Cup and will host the 2023 50 over World Cup. It has also been awarded 3 more ICC events in the next decade.

England have been given one event in 2030 (T20 World Cup).

What exactly is the purpose of the Big 3? England are the best nation for hosting ICC events regardless of poor weather. Pathetic scheduling and BCCI pandering by ICC as usual. Destroying this beautiful game!

India are set to host four global men's white-ball events in the next decade

This is a bit inaccurate. India only became hosts of 2021 because T20 2020 WC in Aus was cancelled, the Aussies are now taking the next ICC event in 2022. In fact there will be a gap of 5 years before India host another ICC event, in which time the Windies, Pakistan and even the USA will be host nations.

SA, Aus, Zimb, NZ and even Namibia are all hosting before India in 2029...in fact, this event, the ICC CT is the only event India is hosting on it's own, the other events are shared.

As much as I dislike the ICC, they have done a decent job of spreading out the events in this cycle...as far as I remember in the last cycle England hosted 3 ICC events including back to back CTs.

Good to see WI and SA hosting again, as long as they can organise the weather response.

what are you going on about? India is hosting 2026 T20, which is just 3 years after they will host 2023 WC and 5 years after 2021 T20 WC

Calm down warrior, I was looking at the official 2024-2031 cycle announced by the ICC. As I stated, India hosting this last world t20 was a matter of circumstance, the 2023 world cup was indeed scheduled already and I forgot about that. If it wasn't for Covid, India would not have hosted a world ICC tournament since 2016 ICC world t20.

That would still mean, without Covid, India would have hosted their first tournament in 7 years.

The ICC has done a decent job of spreading out hosting duties.

still wrong. the icc has done poor job of spreading hosting duties among the big 3. England hosted last 2 CT, and world cup. Now India hosting majority of the world cups this decade.

The mere fact that you think India not hosting a global tournament in 7 years is a counterpoint speaks volumes.

Yeah. This is definitely not fair.

How is India getting to host so many World Cups in such a short period? West Indies should've been the host for at least one of the World Cups here.

it's a complete farce. no wonder cricket is dying and india ensuring its death because of greed

Hosting duties spread between WI, SA, Namibia, USA and Pakistan....but ok, carry on kid.

One of the problems is that there are SO MANY world events. World T20 2021, 2022 and 2026 shouldn't be the case, although Covid has a hand in that. As I've stated previously, the Champion's Trophy should become the premier T20 world tournament. At the same time, ICC members want the big bucks these tournaments provide, so where better to hold them than India?

calling somebody a kid doesn't give your idiotic posts any merit. How has ICC spread hosting duties? wi, sa, namibia, usa are all sharing 1 event each. Pakistan gets 1 event.

In that same span, India gets 4 events (5 if you include this year). Calling others a kid with a 5th grade level reasoning skills is the height of irony.

England had 2017 CT, 2019 WC, WTC 2021.

Originally 2 WT20s were scheduled for 2020 and 2021 respectively.

India was always supposed to host the T20 WC in 2021....Covid only ensured that they had to do use UAE facilities for that.

Aussies were supposed to host the WT20 in 2020 which got pushed to 2022 due to Covid with Aussies retaining the hosting rights.

West Indies is a terrible place to hold a world cup. Maybe South Africa could've been given one more tourny to host.

It is not about whether or not some place is terrible (which is subjective anyway). It is also about fairness.

West Indies are 4-time world champion. They deserve to be the host once in a while.

Everything is taken into account before hosting rights are given. Infrastructure, timings, other factors also play a role.

How on earth do England get to host all WTC finals? Every single one of them?
