3rd ODI: Pak A vs. Aus A thread

If Imran Farhat performs here, it will be some sort of a relief for the selectors. Then he MUST go on and score big in the upcoming Eng tour warm up matches.

I told you guys that Butt has been rushed into he still has problems with ball comming into him, if this continues Hoggard will make his bunny.

it cant be good to keep chopping and changing the side.......one min Butt is in, the next match he is out, then he is in.

This does not build up any momentum or confidence.

Same thing happened in India in the test, plyd the 1st test and was dropped for the rest of the series for failures like Captain Birdseye and Taufeeq Umar..

Then v WI same thing - picked for the 1st test but dropped for the second

Nauman

Dont you agree with my point of Butt being picked and dropped far to regularly for him to have any confidence in Test Matches

At least in ODI's he knows his position is secure and thats why he regularly performs in this format of the game

Dont you agree with my point of Butt being picked and dropped far to regularly for him to have any confidence in Test Matches

I agree either you have him in the side and dont drop him for a good period of 6 to 12 months or just drop him let him play in domestic circuit and A team for a couple of years and then have him in the side. Constant dropping and having him back in the side is doing him no good.

Butt making life hard to retain his spot
If Taufeeq gets runs, he will have a chance....

Zaidi goes as well bowled throught the gate...

Farhat has had too many chance for him to be considered as a potential opener any more

Noddy - Taufeeq does not inspire confidence at all - Butt is the better long term prospect and has age on his side...

He just needs Bob to show him confidence in the test match scene as shown in Aus in the 2nd and 3rd Matches

Taufeeq is or was low on confidence not ability....
This is game over by all accounts.

This is game over by all accounts.

Though chance for Faisal Iqbal to wash himself in glory with a defiant innings.

He has got the overs and he could bat for a long time.

And Faisal already edges one past gully for 4.

C'mon Faisal, we are right beind you!

and Bazid, too.....

Of the following schools yaar, which ones would you know the best?

A) St Mary's Lalazar
B) Sir Syed, Mall Road
C) Gordon College
D) Asghar Mall College

i dont know all of them.....i was based outside of lahore for several years.....

bazid shaping up nicely!

Noddy

Taufeeq might have ability but i dont think he is the long term solution

who is the complete answer...
we dont have the pairing set yet, and we never will if we chop and change all the time and too often...the facts have been put out already.....

Im sure we have played together - but not telling anyone who you are!

At any rate I kind of gave up cricket around 1980-81 and went to the US a couple of years later.

Back to Bazid - not sure about his defense, especially footwork, but does play some beautiful shots. Seems to have modelled himself on Inzi rather than dad MJK.

Bazid is going to be the hero and take us home. Mark my words.

faisal iqbal has just been bowled!!!

bazid going at nearly run a bowl on 35

57/5 13 overs

Bazid will probably go into ultra defence mode now

Noddy

True - the pairing is the key and i suspect that for Eng Bob will go for Afridi and Malik as this allows his to play Razzaq as well and also have 3 pacers and 3 spinners.

If not then Malik will drop for Butt and we will go in with 3 and 2

Whats your considered opinion

I'm reading the ball by ball commentary.

Looks like two different matches going on out there:

A) When Bazid is on strike, you read TOP SHOT for 4 - already hit 6 beautiful boundaries according to the scorer.

B) When the other batters are playing, they can barely keep the ball out.

So many people think he is a strokeless wonder - who cant play on the off side!

Where are they now?

(Just teasing you guys ok...)

I guess Bazid, Hasan Raza and Malik are the ones who have shone through in this Aus A Tour. And possibly M Asif.

fair play- yeh I know but according to some people he isn't good enough to play for Pakistan so we might as well forget about him. Waste of time him playing in this game. In fact, it is an absolute disgrace that he was even selected and Woolmer is a donkey for doing that.::J

the important thing for Gul is that he gets his match fitness back. Any 'good stats' he gets in the bowling department is just a bonus and the great thing is that he has been playing quite regularly (and so getting back to fitness) and has been getting some good stats as well!

I would play him as the third bowler against England.

Absolutely - and he cant play on the off side!

And he has no strokes!

And what would that fairplay know about batting!

And he has hit 7 boundaries all edges of course! Lucky guy!

Umm - actually 7 perfectly struck magnificent boundaries! Lucky anyway!

:)

15b20lovely delivery, short in length, outside off and moves away, tries to defend it, misses the outside edge on the way to keeper

see that fair play. He is rubbish! He can't even hit a lovely delivery! He played and missed once! This shows a real flaw in his batting and he would really come unstuck in the first team. All his contacts thanks to his father! The PCB are a disgrace!

I dont know why I check this thread for good news.....Phir Pitaay yay log ! One match they are the best - the nexy one we are back to our 60/5 type scores..... I suppose that is consistency.

And yes, Bazid is standing out in all this ....

Bazid has been a treat to watch all other batsmen look like fools when you compare them to Bazid he has shifted between front and back foot beautifully, timed the ball cant remember a single stroke which has been forced.

Yasir Arafat is on 0 off 7.

Either he is trying to be funny by doing a Hafeez impression or he hasn't realised that we need over 6 per over to win this match.

The guy bats like a tail ender I dont know why and how he scored runs previously.

More than just standing out I think.

Not just some lucky hit and miss 40 by the sound of it, but full of high class strokes on both sides of the wicket.

I say:

HE IS NOT AS BAD AS YOU GUYS MAKE HIM OUT TO BE, OR WOULD LIKE TO BE.

That's all.

Yeah, bats like a tail ender (ie Hafeez)

Watson to Yasir Arafat
full ball, outside off, leans in to it and drives it on the front foot through covers for four

Finally! Think he realised that his Hafeez impression wasn't really that funny.

Stupid question No: 189790

Can Bazid open for Pak ?

Lewis to Bazid Khan
Great shot! full ball, on middle and leg stump, drives it downt he ground, ball clips the leg stump on the bowling end and races away to mid-on fence for four

yasir yet to get off mark

The run rate is not too bad - but one more wicket and the fat lady will pick up the mike.

But Im afriad the PCB are so stupid that if they try him as opener and if he fails (God forbid but I wouldnt blame him one bit) then they may forget that he is actually a middle order batsman and may see no use for him, forgetting that he can be the future of Pak's middle order.

Why not lets have Malik and Bazid opening, seriously why not one of the senior players in the side take responsibility and open like Flemming did.

we opened with Hafeez for so long why not give Bazid a go?

He can't be much worse than Yasir Hameed, Taufeeq Umar and Imran Farhat.

Yasir Arafat also goes, looks like fat lady has started singing but I cant hear her over the horrible commentary by PTV commentators.

But he is!

That is the majority opinion.

Didnt even make 50 this time you see.

So Nauman, has the ball been doing a bit, or our batters to blame?

I see that apart from Bazid not even other guy managed double figures.

Zulqarnain is a brilliant batsman.

Bazid Khan and Zulqarnain Haider will take us home.

One will get out towards the end but we will still win by 3 wickets.

Anyone want a bet on that? £100,000?

Nauman said:
Nope, it was Yasir Arafat who got out, looks like FP's nephew is giving him wrong reports.

I didnt say he was out yet.

I said he has not even managed to get to 50 so far.

Ball doesnt seem to be doing much apparently apart from the fact that it help up a bit early on and batsmen went for shots on the up and so forth getting out (Hassan Raza and Faisal Iqbal). Butt played across the line, Farhat got a nasty one bounced quite a bit from good length and Zaidi was just awefull playing away from the body. You wait for the ball and play it on merit its easy just as Bazid is doing, he hasnt done anything special just kept it simple and played his natural game.

Thanks.

Interesting. My nephew will doubtless update me if can be bothered.

What you say was my guess as well because not one of Bazid's 8 boundaries has been a lucky edge etc. All proper shots at least according to the scorers. That usually means that the pitch and conditions aren't that bad.

100 for 7.

Not a single guy reaching double figures.

Bad day at the office as well.

Also, while I was enjoying myself teasing all the Bazid bashers, they seem to have sheepishly disappeared! I was only joking guys.

Next time he fails, you can bring out all the bile again - its all good fun anyway.

122 for 7

Pakistan will win this match

Pakistan A 133 for 7

Bazid Khan 70 (78)
Tahir Khan 18 (17)

143 for 7 after 30.3 overs

Bazid Khan not out 76 (86)
Tahir Khan not out 22 (22)

Dont hold your breath. Not enough wickets left though the run rate is decent still.

But good fightback overall.

we will win.

152 for 7 after 33 overs

Bazid Khan not out 84 (96)
Tahir Khan not out 24 (31)

Haha, I'll check the clips - thanks yaar.

going down with a fight

Just checked the score and I see that the boys are atleast showing some fighting spirit. This fighting spirit has been lacking and its good to see some pride and go down fighting.

160 for 8 now

We are still going to win though.

Another full length diving catch. That is the third in our innings.
