What's new

3rd Test: England v South Africa at Lord's, Aug 16-20, 2012 | Day 3

Come on Malakian, times ripe for you to make yer appearance....

Leave the poor rubber doll alone!

If england pull this off somehow they deserve to keep number 1 tag.

A humdinger of a test match going on!

Anderson keeps getting off strike early in the over so hes doing his job.

Noooo.

Should have checked for no ball, just in case :))

Prior gone for real now, about a 2% chance of England winning this now, I don't know how much Finn can bat.

Edged and :out

This time it's surely gone and surely now it's Saffers all the way.

But nonetheless, a great knock by Prior.

Vernon you beauty. Beautiful seam presentation and ball skidding nicely. Well Played Prior.

#1 rankings almost gone , na na naa naaa hey hey hey good bye :)

Prior gone. That new ball syndrome got to him. Instead of going hard he hung his bat nervously. Anyway brilliant inns by our WK as usual.

Finn gone. Well done SA.

What a hero , Vernon Philander. Stars with both the ball and bat.

New number one's era begins.

Congratulations SA for your new ranking, and for the wins! Brilliant match. :)

Finally, SA have won! :14:

But what a cracker this was. Well played England!

South Africa are now the new #1 in tests. :)

Remarkable fight back from England that should never have been allowed by Smith! Vern should have been bowling before the new ball. What an awesome match though, hats off to England for not going down meekly! :)

Prior seems to have cried. Awesome knock. Best batsman for england apart from kp. Extra ordinary from england after all the kp fracas

The cursed rank is passed on to SA. Another Pakistan-delivered whitewash anyone? :yk

To be honest, if strike bowlers were bowling then game would have been over much earlier. England was simply slogging and they would have lost wickets.

Make up whatever non-existent version of events you like pal.

Brilliant Fight back by England, esp. Prior and Swanny! They seriously could have chased this down. Well, but with new ball, it was going to get tougher ... but still brilliant effort.

Did u notice ? Tail-enders like swann, broad batted better than top names like cook, strauss and bell :D

Oh no, I enjoyed the game and I would have liked even closer finish but letting England get so close was function of positive batting + non-strike bowlers bowling at the same time. If you don't see it that way , its all right.

It was a good test match to watch.

Cricket and Life goes on. South Africa were just the better team, England needs to sort out their bowling attack, Broad and Bresnan were the biggest let down from me and Swann has had a costly poor series. But this no 1 ranking is not permanent, just needs one poor series from South Africa and it will fluctuate every where. Will be interesting to see if Strauss remains in the team let alone captain and no KP should not be allowed anywhere back in the team till he is truely taught a lesson.

Wow when South African team was taking their photograph they were having a conversation about opening a bottle of champagne. They waited because Tahir and Amla were still close to the team. As soon as the picture was taken they made sure Amla and Tahir were long gone before they started spraying the champagne. Seems a simple gesture but it was really nice to see the other team members being considerate like that. Just saw it in the presentation ceremony, had to post.

Even though KP was also responsible but clearly a contrast to how couple of teammates were against KP so openly. Drama should have been handled in better way. Hope to see him play again.
