Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, visited the restive Line of Control (LoC) on Friday, a press release by the military's media wing said.
According to a brief statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations, the premier was also accompanied by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Chairman of Special Committee on Kashmir Syed Fakhar Imam.
During their visit, the prime minister and army chief will interact with troops and meet the families of martyrs. Prime Minister Imran is also expected to visit Muzaffarabad and address citizens today.
The country is observing Defence and Martyrs Day today. This year, Defence and Martyrs Day is also being observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day.

We stopped the enemy from having tea at Lahore gymkhana. The fauj in particular targeted them for assassination getting the job done but all means making sure they never sipped tea again. Loads of love and respect to those who laid down their lives so that Pakistan can live. Shaheed's never die and only a Muslim soldier can be a "shaheed" so Indian army should stop stealing our terms. Non Muslim soldiers' can never be shaheed's.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said on Wednesday that the entire nation stood united alongside the country’s armed forces to thwart “evil designs” against Pakistan’s prosperity and integrity.
The premier made the remarks as the nation marked its 58th Defence Day to commemorate the sacrifices of fallen heroes during the 1965 war.
The day dawned with 31-gun salute at the federal capital and 21-gun salute at provincial capitals. Change of guard ceremonies were also held at the mausoleums of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal in Karachi and Lahore, respectively.
In his message for Defence Day, Kakar said that September 6 was remembered as a day of vigour, bravery, courage and resilience.

Nation marks 59th Defence Day to commemorate legacy of 1965 War
The nation marked its 59th Defence Day on Friday to commemorate the sacrifices of fallen heroes of the 1965 war against India.
A change of guards was held in major centres, including the Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi and Allama Iqbal’s in Lahore.
According to state-owned Radio Pakistan, “It was on this day in 1965 the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation foiled nefarious designs of the enemy.”
A statement was issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on behalf of the chairman joint chiefs of staff committee, Services Chiefs and Armed Forces, saying that they “proudly commemorate the triumphant legacy of the 1965 War” — something they described as “a paradigm of the nation’s indomitable will and unyielding spirit.”
“This day serves as a poignant tribute to the valor, sacrifice, and heroism of our gallant soldiers who valiantly defended the motherland against formidable odds,” the ISPR statement said.
“Fifty-nine years ago, the Pakistan Armed Forces decisively thwarted the enemy’s malicious designs, securing a historic victory that will be etched in the annals of history forever. The 1965 War was a beacon of hope, exemplifying the nation’s resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
“We pay heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan who have laid down their lives since 1947 in defence of Pakistan and especially those who have given ultimate sacrifices in fights & war against terrorism. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.”
The military’s media wing also paid tribute to the veterans who “fought valiantly”, vowing that “their bravery and selflessness will always be remembered.”
“The Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to defend the country against all threats and challenges,” it added. “We along with Law Enforcement Agencies stand ready to defend our homeland with unwavering dedication and unrelenting passion, upholding the spirit of September 1965.
“We also pay tribute to the families of all our martyrs and veterans who have borne the brunt of their loved ones’ sacrifices with courage and resilience.”

Their professionalism, fighting skills and war readiness on land, in the air, and at sea, assured us that Pakistan’s defence is impregnable as it is backed by the undying spirit of its people, and the unwavering resolve of its Armed Forces.
As the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, I take pride in reaffirming our national commitment towards continuous upgradation and modernisation of Pakistan’s defence capability. In an era marked by hybrid and 5th Generation Warfare where disinformation, propaganda, and psychological operations are employed as weapons, it is imperative that we strengthen not only our military arsenal but also our information and communication systems. The pillars of our state and the people, especially our youth, must remain vigilant and united to counter these modern-day threats with wisdom, resilience, and unity.
The longstanding dispute of Jammu and Kashmir remains at the core of instability in the region. Without its just resolution, in line with the UN’s Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people, peace will remain elusive. Furthermore, the heart-wrenching tragedy of Palestine compels us to demand an end to genocide and oppression against the Palestinian people. The world must stand firm for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, as the only path to lasting peace in the Middle East.
Lastly, on this Defence and Martyrs Day, let us renew our pledge to remain steadfast, resilient, and united so that the sacrifices of Shuhada are honoured, our defence remains unbreachable, and our future generations inherit a strong, prosperous and peaceful Pakistan. The families of the Shuhada are our pride, and the sacrifices of the Ghazis are our sacred trust. Nation’s civil, military leaders reaffirm resolve, honour martyrs on Defence Day
The country marked the 60th Defence and Martyrs’ Day with solemn ceremonies and renewed pledges to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, with the civilian and military leadership honouring the courage of martyrs, ghazis, and citizens whose sacrifices form the cornerstone of national defence.
The day, which coincided with the blessed occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu led the homage to the nation’s heroes.
In its message, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said September 6 epitomises the unflinching resolve and unshakeable spirit of the Pakistani nation.
“On this historic day, our brave soldiers, with the support of the nation, stood like an insurmountable wall against blatant aggression, thwarting the nefarious designs of an enemy far superior in arms and numbers. The feats of heroic valour and sacrifice left an indelible message on the sands of time: that a united nation can never be defeated,” it said.
ISPR added that the courage of fearless heroes continues to inspire future generations and their legacy shall live on forever. The armed forces also expressed their resolve to extend all-out support to victims of the ongoing floods across Pakistan and reaffirmed their pledge to defend the country against any threat, vowing a “befitting and decisive response” to any attempt to disrupt the hard-earned peace.
A solemn guard-changing ceremony was held at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Saturday to mark Defence and Martyrs Day.
A contingent from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) took over guard duties at the mausoleum. Air Vice Marshal Shahryar Khan attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Speaking as the chief guest at the guard changing ceremony at Mazar-e-Quaid, AVM Shahryar Khan said: "Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos reminds us of September 6, but next time the score won't stop at 6-0, it will be 60-0."
'A glorious chapter'
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message issued from the Presidency, called September 6 a “glorious chapter” in Pakistan’s history. He paid rich tribute to the brave soldiers and resilient citizens who, with unshakable faith and unmatched courage, have defended the nation’s borders.The president highlighted the significance of this year’s Defence Day in light of the recent Operation “Bunyan-um-Marsoos” conducted in May 2025. “Just as our courageous forces demonstrated extraordinary valour and dedication in 1965, our sons once again proved their unmatched bravery during this year’s operation,” he said.
He lauded the professional excellence, combat readiness, and multi-domain capabilities of the Pakistan military, terming the nation’s defence “impregnable” and built on the eternal spirit of its people. As Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, he reiterated his commitment to modernising Pakistan’s defence capabilities and emphasised countering modern threats such as hybrid warfare, disinformation, and psychological operations.
President Zardari urged all pillars of the state, particularly the youth, to remain alert, united, and resilient in the face of evolving challenges. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on Kashmir and Palestine, calling Kashmir the root cause of regional instability and condemning Israeli atrocities as genocide. He demanded a just solution for Kashmir and an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
“Let us remain steadfast, courageous, and united so that the sacrifices of our martyrs are honoured, our defence remains unbreakable, and we pass on a strong, prosperous, and peaceful Pakistan to our future generations,” he concluded, paying tribute to the families of martyrs and veterans.
'A symbol of courage'
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid glowing tribute to the martyrs and ghazis, calling September 6 “a symbol of courage, unity, and resilience.” He recalled how Pakistan’s armed forces, with the full support of the people, had thwarted enemy aggression in 1965 and proven the nation’s capacity to defend its independence and integrity.Highlighting the recent “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, Marqa-e-Haq,” the prime minister lauded the Army, Navy, and Air Force for their unmatched professionalism and combat skills under the strategic leadership of COAS Field Marshal Munir. He said the courage of martyrs and war veterans would continue to inspire generations.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and constructive engagement but warned against ignoring “continuous Indian provocations and shifting regional dynamics.” He stressed strengthening defence capabilities and resolutely countering foreign-sponsored terrorism and proxy warfare.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the prime minister reiterated unwavering support for their struggle for self-determination and strongly condemned ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine, urging uninterrupted humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The premier underscored that economic stability is essential for strong defence and urged the nation to rise above personal differences for sustainable prosperity and self-reliance.
“On this Defence and Martyrs Day, let us renew our pledge to the timeless principles of faith, unity, and discipline as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam, and work together for a secure, united, and prosperous Pakistan. Pakistan Armed Forces Zindabad, Pakistan Paindabad,” he concluded.

Prove that it was a loss. Per most of the analysts, it was a stalemate - both sides losing territories.
It WAS a loss in a sense that it was started by Pakistan which resulted in the loss of its objective: capturing Kashmir.

Didn't Pakistan launch op grand slam and somethitn to annex Kashmir... Failed miserably and had to panic and instead just save Lahore .. so offensive actions failed miserably and offense became a fight for survival.. is that what we are celebrating... Wah re wah... They failed in the mission, but they did not lose the war.
Look up the definition of thrashing. They did beat the living daylights out of the Indians - an enemy multiple fold larger than them which should me able to man handle Pakistan forces. Look what Chinese did to your forces and their forces were not whole alot bigger than yours.
In my opinion, a smaller force wins even in case of a stalemate against much larger opponent!
And then they make fun of Pak minister (who no doubt is a dumbo) mentioning social media. Yeah, ignore the world main stream media.

When you start a war, you do so with an objective. Operation Gibralter in 65' and Kargil War in 99' were started by Pakistan completely unprovoked, and both failed to achieve their objectives. When you fail to achieve your objective, you lose.
But thats not how the avg Pakistani mind processes these things.... you must know by now that they "operate" differently.
So in their mind it works like this:
Pakistan = Indias enemy
Pakistan Army = 1/6 the Indian Army
Indian Army Never initiated a war = India is afraid/coward = Advantage Pakistan
whereas Pakistan started many wars despite being 1/6 = Pakistan is a sher nation
And add to that if India cannot pummel the sh!t out of Pak in any War = Pak definitely won the war.
thats the level of processing abilities that an avg Pakistani possesses ( even the well educated ones ) have.

The evidence is circumstantial as India has never approached anyone in the past and infact back then the UK and USA were siding with Indian after china threatened India but Ayub Khan even refused help from China given the impending doom at Lahore considering the ammunition situation. That tells you who was desperate for an off-ramp which came in the form of a UN sanction threat.
Lets look at this differently .... what would a loss for Pakistan look like from your perspective?
From an Indian perspective it would be loss of Our side of Kashmir. But since we never tried to invade Pakistan how do you determine what is a loss for you ?
