A thread to register new cricket records

*The references below belong to today match between Pakistan and the West Indies.*

* Pakistan lost four wickets for just one run, making it a record in ODI cricket for four wickets lost for the least number of runs scored. The earlier record was held by some associate team who were four down for four in some match.

* Denesh Ramdin´s 51 is the lowest top score ever in a 300 plus score by a team in ODIs.

And a bit of personal history deserves a mention here: this is the first time in my life that I have watched a match live held in New Zealand. Yes, so far in life I had always relied on highlights:).

* Steven Finn conceded 49 runs off his two overs against New Zealand. His economy rate of 24.5 is the highest in a spell of two or more overs in an ODI match.

*The references below belong to the ongoing World Cup match between the West Indies and Zimbabwe.*

* Chris Gayle´s double century came in 138 balls, the fastest in ODIs. Virender Sehwag previously held the record off 140 balls.

* With 215, Gayle now holds the record for the highest individual in ODIs by a left-handed batsman, and his was thus the first ODI double century by a left-hander.

* Holds the record for the most number of sixes hit by a left-hander in an ODI innings......

* .... and the most runs scored in boundaries by a left-hander.

* The partnership of 372 between Gayle and Marlon Samuels is now the highest in ODI cricket and only the third 300-run partnership in ODIs. Rahul Dravid was involved in both the previous ones, with Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar respectively.

* It is also the highest ODI score at a neutral venue.

* From the players who have scored an ODI double century, Gayle is the only one to have bowled in the same match, and of course to have picked up a wicket as well:p. He took two wickets.

One stunningly amazing coincidence is that the first ODI double century, by Sachin Tendulkar, was scored on the same day as that by Chris Gayle. 24th February that is, 2010 and 2015 being respectively the years.

Also, Gayle is the only player to have scored a triple century in Test cricket, a double in ODIs and a century in T20Is.

Above all, and most importantly for me personally, there was a small matter of Ellyse Perry having attended the game. It´s reported that the cameraman focused only very little on her as she sat in the crowd. I guess, Gayle didn´t allow them much time.

And finally, finally, finally..... the West Indies have done it..... errrr,..... AB de Villiers has done it!

* Fastest 150 ever in the history of ODI cricket! Off 64 balls.

Okay, it may not be a record of any sort but something indeed that deserves a mention. Jason Holder´s first five overs saw him concede only nine runs. Up to that point it had been a good spell of bowling until..... Well, 95 came of his last five overs.

I quite confident that I might well be needed to update the thread after Rohit Sharma´s day in the sun tomorrow against the UAE.

* Jason Holder now becomes the first captain to concede a century in an ODI. His expensive figures of 104 in 10 overs is a record he broke of himself for a captain. He conceded 91 in nine overs when the other AB de Villiers massacre took place a few weeks ago.

* The run-rate of 24 of the 80-run partnership between de Villiers and Farhaan Behardien is the highest for a partnership of 50 or more in ODIs.

* The West Indies now proudly hold the record for conceding a 400-plus total on most occasions; thrice that is.

* The New Zealand-Australia game from earlier today saw Left-arm seamers take 12 wickets, a record in ODIs.

Also, New Zealand won the match by one wicket with 161 balls still to go, a record of some sort if you like. Kenya had earlier won an ODI against Bermuda in 2007 with 82 balls to go and with only one wicket in hand.

* Kumar Sangakkara becomes the first player in the history of ODI cricket to get four consecutive centuries.

*All the references below belong to the 4th quarter-final between New Zealand and the West Indies from earlier today of the ongoing world cup*

* Martin Guptill´s 237* is now the highest score in ODI cricket for a batsman that has remained undismissed. Sachin Tendulkar earlier held this record:) (with exactly 200).

* The West Indies run-rate of 8.2 in their chase is a record for the highest run-rate sustained in an ODI innings in which a side has got bowled out.

250 in the first 30 overs by any team.
Is this some kind of record ?

In "that" famous Johannesburg ODI in 2006, South Africa were 279 for 2 by the end of the 30th over.

Yes, that´s right, my friend.....

* The 312-run opening stand between Bangladesh´s Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes is now the highest opening stand ever in a team´s second innings of a Test match, the highest ever also in a third or fourth innings of a match.

* the 312-run opening stand between bangladesh´s tamim iqbal and imrul kayes is now

- the highest opening stand ever in a team´s second innings of a test match
- the highest ever also in a third or fourth innings of a match.

The first ODI between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Lahore provided the first instance of four batsmen from one team going past 70.

* Stuart Broad now holds the record for the worst economy-rate in an innings in which a bowler has taken five wickets (or more) in Test cricket. In the first innings of the ongoing match against New Zealand at Headingley, he took five for 109 in 17.1 overs, at an economy rate of 6.34. This record had previously belonged to Dale Steyn, who took five for 82 in 13.1 overs against Sri Lanka back in 2006.

* Adam Voges has now become the oldest player to make a century on debut in any format of the game.

* The 177-run partnership between Jos Buttler and Adil Rashid is now the highest seventh-wicket partnership in ODI cricket.

* With five, Younis Khan now holds the record for the most centuries scored in the fourth innings of a Test match.

* Of those who have debuted at an age of 30 or more, Ryan Harris was the only fast bowler to take 100 wickets in Test cricket.

* South Africa´s Kagiso Rabada now holds the record for the best bowling figures on debut in an ODI. He took six for 16 in eight overs, three of which were maidens, against Bangladesh today. His figures include a hat-trick, too.

* Pakistan´s fast bowler Imran Khan (junior) holds the record for the most number of Test matches taken in playing his first ball as batsman. He finally faced a delivery in his fifth Test match against Sri Lanka recently.

* Mustafizur Rehman is the only player in the history of the game to have won the Man of the Match award on the ODI as well as the Test debut.

* Mahela Jayawardene is the only Batsmen to have scored Centuries in World Cup Semi Final & Final

* The record for highest percentage of runs scored by an individual batsman in a completed Test match innings has stood since this match when Charles Bannerman scored 165 in Australia's first innings score of 245 (67.34%). When you think of all the batsmen that have put in excellent performances as their team collapsed around them (Tendulkar, Lara, Andy Flower, Dravid come to mind), it is amazing to think that this record has remained unbroken in 138 years and over 2000 Test matches.

* The Centenary Test, played on the 100th anniversary of Test cricket, had the exact same result as the match it was commemorating: Australia beat England by 45 runs at the MCG. Not technically a record but a really amazing coincidence!

*Sir Garfield Sobers' ODI average is 0. Again, not a record but amazing stat nonetheless

*In a 1951 in a test versus England, Alex Moir of New Zealand bowled 2 successive overs, the last before tea and the first after the interval! The only other time this happened in test cricket was in an Ashes test in 1921.

*Australian fast Bowler Merv Hughes is the only bowler to have taken a hat trick which was spread across three separate overs.

* TM Dilshan yesterday became the oldest player to reach 10000 runs in ODIs.

* Mahela Jayawardene is the only Batsmen to have scored Centuries in World Cup Semi Final & Final

I had known about all except the last two.

Is that allowed at all? Or did the innings change between these overs?

* Anwar Ali´s 46 is now the highest T20I score for a batsman batting at number nine.

* Anwar Ali´s 46 is now the highest T20I score for a batsman batting at number nine.

I dont know if its a record but we sealed the Test' Odi and T20 series wins with a six. With Misbah in tests Malik in Odi and Imad in T20i

In the ongoing Trent Bridge Test match of the Ashes series, Australia were yesterday bowled out (for 60) in just 93 minutes and and 18.3 overs. Since we don´t have the exact details of the matches played years ago, it is a bit sad that it can´t be quite confirmed exactly which records they have broken yesterday. Still though, some records have been confirmed by ESPN Cricinfo.

* Australia´s was the shortest first innings ever of a Test match. They were bowled in 111 balls, as is already mentioned above.

* Ajinkya Rahane now holds the record for taking most catches (as non-wicket keeper) in a Test match, hence an overall international match too. He took eight catches in the Galle Test.

* Dinesh Chandimal now holds the record for taking fewest Test matches to reach 1000 runs as wicket keeper, going past AB de Villiers record who took 14 matches.

* Virat Kohli is now the fastest to reach 1000 runs in T20I cricket. He did in 27 innings.

Ellyse Perry becomes first player to reach 1000 runs, 100 wickets in T20Is

Ellyse Perry's unbeaten 47 in Australia's seven-wicket win at Hove made her the first player - male or female - to reach the all-round milestone of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in T20 international cricket.
Shahid Afridi (1416 runs and 98 wickets) had previously been the closest to reaching the milestone, while Shakib al Hasan (1471 and 88) is best placed to join Perry in coming years.

Most recent :-

India just smashed 51 runs in 3 overs vs Bangladesh, making it the fastest 50 runs in test cricket history ever.
