Afghan interim cricket CEO claims Afghanistan is ‘far better’ than Pakistan

Bangladesh has somewhat adapted but our unwillingness to produce good pitches for pace bowlers mean we will languish at the bottom tier along with Pakistan.

Pakistan and Bangladesh with their talent need to improve their domestics
 
Zimbabwe could have been a better option than this overrated Afghanistan team.
 
They should always remember who helped them nurture their players.

It was Pakistan who gave their players everything. They could play Club Cricket, Premier Domestic Competitions in Pakistan. PCB invited them to NCA, A-tours, their international team to play in our National T20 Cup.

Tbh they can as they have thrashed us in the warm up and came very very close to beating us in the last Asia cup. Pakistan team right now is in pathetic state to be honest. As a fan it hurts to see our shuper stars can't even beat Afghanistan convincingly.

Can't say about Pakistan at the moment, but their bowling seemed better then Indian batting in today's match.
 
Hopefully these are the last 4 games for imam malik hafeez imad wahab safraz - otherwise uganda/rwanda going to start to flex there muscles against pak.

Well they will have to back up these very big words by doing it. Maybe it would have been a better idea for the match to be played first.

Pakistan was the only place most Afghans could play their cricket when the WOT was in full flow, seems they now think a few fairweather friends in certain countries means they can show premature arrogance.

Afghanistan pushed India today way more than Pakistan in our 7 World Cup encounters with them combined. Have to respect them for that.

The body language of the Afg team and the Pak team when playing India was poles apart. The Afg team looked like they were trying to win and were giving it their all while the Pak team, barring Amir looked like they had already mentally conceded the game. Now whether its a mental block or something else for the Pak team, I don;t know but to rate the Afg team better than Pak is pushing it. Yes teh Pakistan team is lagging but I would stillbet my $ on Pakistan ina Pak-Afg match and would bank on Pakistan to winn 99 out of 100 games, one loss being an anomaly.
 
Wake up PCB.

Pakistan is being compared to Afghanistan of all teams.

When you start justifying a loss to Afghanistan because it was a warm-up game, this was bound to happen. If somehow they beat Pakistan in the world cup, it will further strengthen their case considering they have been more competitive against India in their only world cup match than Pakistan ever had in their entire two decade long history.
 
The reality of Afghanistan is reflected in their performance through the tournament. Yesterday's was like a thank you to the dedicated fans who turn up at their games.
 
Afghanistan will grow strong. Since BCCI is providing them with the basic infrastructure, 4-5 years from now on, the results will start to show.
 
What is this assessment based on? ONE match? Pakistan's best game was against England, who they beat. Afghanistan had one good match, which they lost. There's other factors like the pitch being suited to their bowlers. If Afghanistan play Pakistan 10 times, they get beat 8 times out of 10....

Just like england thrashed afg, WI thrashed Pakistan too.

Not sure how this logic helps your case here.

If you're going to be that desperate, should you really have the "confidence" of claiming that PCT would "never bottle a chase of 220"?

FYI, Pakistan ended with 202 runs in that match so even if the target was 220, they would have lost the match.

Fact is this Pakistan team is quite capable of bottling a 200 run chase. I'm not saying they'll do so in this WC. But I don't think a lot of people will be surprised if that does happen in a match.

Let me rephrase myself, they wouldn't bottle a 220 chase 9 times out of 10. We have players fully suited for that kind of chase.

Spot on. Failing to chase 239 once or twice isn’t the same as failing to chase 190 and 224 constantly.

I think you're getting emotional because of the Afghanistan factor.

A lot of people have said this recently and I'll reiterate. Pakistan fans and the concerned personnel have to accept the reality of Pakistan cricket right now.

It's these statements like "Pakistan would never bottle a chase of 220" that's symptomatic of the problem with Pakistan right now. It's the same as Wahab saying "Pakistan team is more talented than SA" and Imam saying "Starc is not a threat".

Neither their fans nor the team nor the players have any idea about where the team truly stands. Under such circumstances there's bound to be regular disappointments.

Yes, Pakistan is mediocre but to put them in the same category as Afghanistan is laughable. I don’t even know why fellow Pakistanis are getting triggered at this statement by the Afghan CEO. Why are we even having this discussion?

I believe it has relevance.

Here akhtar is talking about management. PCB is far stronger financially and has better institution than Afghanistan. If we go only by management, then surely he is doing a much better job with the limited resources that he has than the PCB chairperson. That doesn't mean Pakistan won't win against Afghanistan. 9 out of 10 times, you guys will win. But in terms of utilizing resources, Afghanistan is doing a better job and has efficient management in place. With BCCI allowing it's grounds for Afghanistan added with the previous factor, the future looks bright for Afghanistan.
 
Afghanistan was doing really well two years ago. They started to become arrogant after that. Arrogance caused their downfall possibly.

I'm not saying Afghanistan is a better team than Pakistan.

But the fact is that PCT has fallen dramatically over the last decade. Does it really make them look good to strut around saying "we are better than Afghanistan"?

World cricket needs a strong Pakistan team. What's the point of having more teams like Afghanistan, Ireland, etc in big tournaments if the regulars like Pakistan and Sri Lanka are declining so quickly? That just brings us back to square one, doesn't it?

But either way this exactly what I am saying. How much longer will the Pakistani team and fans be clutching at straws? Is this what's it come down to? That "doesn't matter that we were completely outplayed by the opposition but at least I batted out at a SR of 70 against Starc". This is the definition of minnow mentality.

How can anyone like this team is beyond me. They haven't done anything of note so far in their cricket history and the worst way to hide behind that is making embarrassingly stupid public statements from official channels.

Won't look much on single person childish statement. Afghanistan cricket is going in right direction they just need strong first class structure to improve there game more quickly

Expected result from the most arrogant team on this planet.Bangladesh has worked hard to reach here after being mocked by everyone over the years.These Rashids etc got it easy by playing in IPL and think they are superstars when they are just loud mouths with nothing to show.So happy to see them losing and crashing out.Cant forget Asia cup when this Rashid was abusing and mocking our players and showing attitude.Besharam team

If there is one player who I absolutely love getting smashed and shown his auqaat its Rashid Khan. Hated him since his arrogance during the Asia Cup. I hope we smash him for a 100. Gully mohallah level bowler.

Pakistan has lost their last 4 ODIs against Bangladesh, so today's match doesn't have much relevance as to whether or not Afghanistan are better than Pakistan.
 
I am really interested in Afghanistan v Pakistan match, infact I wasn't looking forward to India v Pakistan as much as this encounter

I get the impression that getting close to the BCCI has made some Asian Boards think they can misbehave with the PCB and get away with it. On this note we have to be thankful and greatful towards the Sri Lankan Cricket Board for always standing by the PCB in its tough times and for not blindly toeing the BCCI line towards the PCB.
 
Afghanistan Coach said in one of the interview that there is a rivalry between Pakistan and Afghanistan in cricket. I am looking forward to that match now.

Attar Ali Khan is :) he referenced these games against Pak and was quite confident that the game will be a formality for Ban...

Heard him say this on the BBC radio commentary of today's game.
