What's new

Afghanistan (325/7) defeat England (317) by 8 runs in a thriller to keep their hunt for semi-finals spot alive in ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Goodness, if it weren't for that new ball spell by Archer , Afghans would've hit 350+
Afghanistan should have played with more attacking mindset in The PP. they could have easily scored over 350

Now think why was australia chased 350 against England. England bowling is one dimensional and very average
:kp

Regardless of whether Afghanistan win this match or not, full credit to Ibrahim Zadran for playing one of the best ODI innings in recent memory.
I think zadran is better than lahori boy babar azam what do you think younis khan played a huge role here shame pak is not using him.

sick of comms calling this an upset if Afghans win... they are a serious white ball team now, it won't be an upset!

113 runs in the last ten overs! 💥

Ibrahim Zadran's record-breaking 177 powers Afghanistan to a big total against England

After they dropped that heavyset keeper almost all Afghanistanis look fit as a fiddle. Nabi may be a tad big. But he is 40.

I am not interested in talking about any Pakistani player. I'm done putting over players who do nothing to repay your faith.

Zadran is a very good player though with tons of potential. He has already played some big knocks in the World Cup for Afghanistan. Including one in Chennai where he silenced Shaheen and Pakistan with the efficiency of a surgeon.

I think Nabi's fitness is pretty good. I have rarely seen him make any kind of major mess-up on the field.

Already lots of hundreds scored in this champion trophy but this is best hundred under tremendous pressure.

:kp
All his best knocks have come in high-pressure situations---against Pakistan, Australia and England.

Bangladesh cricketers are physically not as strong as other team players. 9 out of 10 times they depend on their bowlers to restrict opponent batsmen and chase the score or defend the total. They can’t hit sixers at will.
It's not about 6's.its about intent to improve, perform, compete against best, to be the best.bng player's never display any of the quality. Even in ipl i never heard any junior Indian player crediting a bng player for some sort of improvement.

Anybody getting flashes of the Australia match? In that match too Azmat struck early getting the wicket of Warner. :kp

Personally I still think England are favorites. This isn't Delhi. Spinners can be bashed just as easily as pacers here.

Exactly. That Delhi pitch has enough for spinners. Lahore is a road. Unless the pitch slows down and the dew stays away, Afghans will find it tough.

Told ya guys.

Afg >>>>> Bangladesh.

Pakistan isn't too far ahead and Pak needs to get serious now.

England isn't approaching this the right way.

You always need an anchor in Pakistani conditions. :rizwan

Duckett is key for England chase so Afghanistan need to take his wicket as soon as .

:kp

WOrld's worst slow ball bowlers are England bowlers. May be they could have picked Sam Curran. Despite his poor form he probably would have worked here. It is a gamble. But better than Carse.

England's another problem is tempo problem. They don't know how to construct a ODI innings. Root is too slow. Others are too aggressive.

If Afganistan win this match than Australian Tullebaaz will be exposed in next match.

Come on Afghanistan.

:kp

I don’t understand how a listless, clueless, and ill prepared Bangladesh managed to beat Afghanistan at the World Cup. Had that game been different or if glen maxwell not had the luckiest day of his life, what a World Cup that would have been. If India had faced Afghanistan in the final, I assure you half of India would have been rooting for them.

Afghans don’t need to get overconfident . Keep going hard till it’s won
