AFG: 56/1 at the end of 14 overs

Afghanistan is a decent team considering half of them aren't even under 19.
I'm interested to see what this pak team can do vs India

Mohammad Afridi strikes twice in the same over

AFG: 75/3 at the end of 23 overs

Naseem Shah has bowled 7 overs and given away only 11 runs lol

Afghan domestic system must be the best in the world to produce so many good players under 16 years of age. There is a 14 year old playing in today's match.

Rehan afridi is strong build allrounder from swat .He is one to keep an eye on .

I heard a lot of great things about Naseem Shah. Really waiting to see him bowl real time. Are there any videos/archives available for the time being?

Lol this pakistani team played so many games against SL in these conditions and have got so much attention here, but are already 5 down against a team no1 talked about.

Our problem is that we think we are doing all the training while rest og the World is resting on their laurels.

Pakistan U19 getting absolutely destroyed by the bowlers. Wow.

NCA is garbage

Abdul Wahid Bangalzai has an average of 22.60 in U19 inter region cricket one day and yet he is picked for what?

This is Unacceptable performance from Pakistan u19s. How can you be 78 all out against Afghanistan?? I know Afghan players are all maybe 24-25 years old but still this is unacceptable!

Unless we don't improve our U19 cricket, don't expect anything good even with 6 or 100 teams. You will get likes of Babar Azam once in a bluemoon

Babar Azam is a product of your u19 setup. Pakistan should bring back the ones who coached him to get good batsmen like him.

Afghanistan under 19 are actually a good team though. They reached the semis in the world cup 2 years ago.

Our players are garbage against spin, that is why we keep on getting humliated against Afghanistan U19

Afghans are anything but u19. I'm sure their actual ages should be something around 24-25. They may have beaten teams but 78 all out? What kind of performance is that? Pakistan's bowling is in safe hands but you guys should make sure good batsmen are selected instead of just selecting relatives and favorites of few.

Disaster and back to the drawing board for our guys!

This has not happened for the 1st time

Pakistan u19 were bundled out for 60odd twice against Afg u19 couple of years back

Afghanistan 1st won against Pak u19 in 2014 and since then they have been consistently beating Pak u19.

Pakistan u19 even failed to reach semis last year

Damn Pakistan missed out on a chance to cause an upset against Afghanistan.

Right, but luckily there are a few more matches to rectify this. And Maybe Bangladesh get a chance for an upset against Pakistan.

Rubbish performance but good to have this in the first match. They must have felt complacent after victories against SL and SA.

Take this with a grain of salt. Afghan under 19 probably doesn't even have a single player below 20.

Last time Pakistan team didn't have that much talent. This time around they are brimming with it. They won against South Africa u19s 7-0 if I remember correctly.

Not surprised by quality of cricket Afghanistan team producing in every level these days .There A team were unlucky to not win odi series against strong bd A side due to rain while u19 team once again trash us with main team is competing well against bd in test

Bad game for youngsters. Its part and parcel of any sport, they are recently coming after beating SA 7-0. Should still try to get back in the tournament and learn from their mistakes so that they dont repeat these in WC next year.

Karachi, 5 September 2019:

Afghanistan U19 recorded an 85-run win over Pakistan U19 in their opening Group A match of the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2019 played at the P Sara Stadium in Colombo.

Set a victory target of 164 (DLS method), Pakistan U19 were bowled out for 78 runs in 19.4 overs. Pakistan got off to a poor start with the bat, losing their first five wickets for 48 runs inside 11 overs, they were eventually bowled out with 158 balls to spare in the 46-over match.

Captain Rohail Nazir scored 16 runs while Mohammad Irfan Khan made 19 off 30 balls, Irfan was the top scorer of the innings. Shafiqullah Ghafari took three wickets for Afghanistan U19.

Batting first, Afghanistan U19 were restricted to 162 for nine in their allotted 46 overs after Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first. The start was delayed due to rain and a wet outfield.

Spinners Aamir Ali and Fahad Munir were the star performers with the ball for Pakistan. The duo equally shared six wickets, Aamir took three for 34 in his 10 overs while Fahad claimed three wickets for 23 runs in his miserly nine over spell.

Pacer Abbas Afridi took two wickets for 26 runs while fellow new-ball bowler Naseem Shah bowled a miserly nine over spell in which he conceded a mere 13 runs, taking one wicket in the process.

Sediqullah Atal (29 off 42 balls, three fours and one six) and Rahmanullah (27 off 66 balls, two fours) were the only batsmen to reach twenties as Pakistan bowlers maintained a control of the proceedings after a 47-run opening stand between captain Farhan Zakhil (19) and Sediqullah.

Scores in brief (According to information received from Asian Cricket Council):

Afghanistan U19 beat Pakistan U19 by 85 runs

Afghanistan U19 162- 9 in 46 overs (Sediqullah Atal 29, Rahmanullah 27; Fahad Munir 3-23, Aamir Ali 3-34)

Pakistan U19 78 all out in 19.4 overs (Mohammad Irfan 19, Rohail Nazir 16; Shafiqullah 3-15, Noor Ahmad 2-12)

I'm not exactly sure how you can go from beating SA in SA 7-0 to getting bowled out for 78 vs AFG.

There's always a silver lining!:)

I remember us beating India in the 2006 WC final and they were out for 71 runs. They produced Rohit, Pujraja and Jadeja and we had legends like Nasir Jamshed representing Pakistan.

Always be optimistic :)

I think its becoming a regular story of our team whether its junior or senior to loose the weakest team in the tournament, than loose to India after that win some matches but at the end not have enough point to qualify for semi. Our players just cannot handle pressure.

the team must have been changed; check which players from SA tour were not selected for this match

Just a bad day imo
If it happens against india, then it'll be worrying

Let's not call them the weakest just coz they're Afghanistan.
Their u19 team is pretty solid.

Rohit played in 2006 U19 world Cup and represented India in 2007
Pujara in 2006 WC, and debut 2010
Rahane in 2007 U19 matches and debut 2011
Kohli in 2008 WC, and debut 2008
KL rahul in 2010WC and debut 2014
Shreyas Iyer in 2014 WC and debut 2017
Pant in 2016 WC and debut 2017
Privit Shaw 2018 WC and debut 2018

Now Shubman Gill is ready

It doesn't take more than 4 years to get ready to represent India for U19 batsmen. They are almost 70 to 75% international class

Apart from Babar Azam, we have produced garbage batsmen, majority languishing and struggling in domestic cricket. Just at the players of 2016 and 2018 WC stats in domestic cricket. 6 teams or 100 teams won't do much and will remain a minnow team unless we can improve the quality of batsmen at U19 level.

This is a reflection of our domestic cricket and the NCA. Hopefully David Parsons will do a massive clean up

What a shambolic performance.

Batting talent amongst the youth seems non-existent in Pakistan these days.

Who are the junior selectors?

Our batting stocks in the last U-19 WC were minnow level as well and it still seems to be the case now.

NCA director and coaches should be sacked. What is NCA teaching these guys?

This was a poor performance by Pak U19.Any team can have a bad day.England were bowled out for 85 by Ireland in the recent test match at Lords. This was the first match so let's see how they performe in the rest of the matches.Don't forget Afghan U19 players are around 24-25 years.Pak should chased 169. It was not big total.

People saying afg. players are 24-25 years old. Have you even seen the players?

Don't forget Pakistani players are rarely u.19 as well.

We both know that not all players from both sides are not under 19s, you don't have to point finger at other team

Afghan senior team has many players who are under 20 years old but they don't look their age.Rashid Khan is not 20 years old and Mujib is not 18.Still this should not the excuse.Pakistan did not bat well.

Honestly, quite recently for some reason Pakistan keeps having this habit of struggling against Afghanistan (they seem to struggle against afghanistan over a lot of the other teams). I really think whenever Pakistan faces Afghanistan, Pakistans luck just dissapear. I also feel like Afghanistan team takes teh Pakistan matches more important than teh final (as though it is the last match tehy will ever play).

Recent examples of Paksitan teams struggling against Afghanistan:

2017 - Afghanistan U19 beat Pakistan U19 in Asia Cup Final
2018 - Afghanistan U19 beat Pakistan U19 in U19 WC Group Stage
- Pakistan very nearly lost to Afghnaistan in Asia Cup, but managed to win
2019 - Afghanistan beat Pakistan in WC Warm up match
- Pakistan were very very close to losing against Afghanistan but they win

So this lose today shouldn't be taken very very seroiusly (although it was a bad batting performance) and with India, they are in trouble now.
