Making his PSL debut for IU in the opening game of the tournament at NSK.

How effective will he be?

He looks like the real deal. Brilliant stuff so far hitting the deck hard. 2 balls in and he looks better than musa

Only seen one over, but I already like what I'm seeing. It's the new ball but he's getting movement and bounce at decent lick. Looks like he's got a bit of fast bowler swagger as well which you need at the top level.

Love his run up - no strange stuff in it

just saw one over, bowled really well. I think he is good enough for Test cricket, but lets see how he bowls int the whole match

Btw i wonder if the speed guns are correct, their look like 140+.

Hits the deck hard, good pace, whippy action.

The lad looks very good.

AHhhh he should had got that wicket.

Man this guy is exciting to watch.

Another pacer to be very excited about.

Shaheen
Naseem
Akif
Hasnain

Incredible. If 2 of them hit their potential we will be very very lucky.

Has all the ingredients of a good bowler.

Has anyone been working with him. Or is he just Raw

Looks very promising.

I have a feeling he will have a great tournament.

Only time will tell us.

5 ft 9 so not good enough Junaids

5'9 is not that short. It's when you get below 5'8 becomes an issue.

He looks taller than 5'9. That must be incorrect

He looks 5’11

Need to see one which goes straight on to the right handers, majority of his deliveries tend to seam in. That ball will have more effect if he can make it more of a surprise delivery rather than a stock ball.

That is normally easy for left armers. Getting inward movement is the tricky part

Agree he already has the danger ball which is more important, but it will become more effective when he can use it as a wicket taking delivery rather than a stock ball.

Add
Musa
Rauf to the list

Oh yes, forgot about Rauf for limited overs!

But while Musa is young, pacy and has a good action, I don’t think he’s in the league of the other five. Unfortunately his height, lack of swing and speed (140-145 as opposed to 145+ like Naseem / Hasnain/ Rauf) mean he can’t quite become a world beater.

Agree, I think Musa isn't going to be able to threaten the very best batsmen, he has some qualities, but at his height he needs more pace than other guys, more movement or more bounce.

Musa is still 19-20. If he puts on some muscle he can up his speed quite easily. Will need to work on seam position though

Luke Ronchi is 5"11
Akif Stood next to him and he looked slightly Taller than him

At his height he needs to be bowling at about 150kph to be a threat, or he needs to be getting late swing more regularly. He's not going to get bounce.

There's a bit of Ashish Nehra about his bowling and I mean that in a nice way.

He looks a like a really good prospect. Hopefully he has a good PSL. I really like the look of him.

4 very tidy overs.

I could only count 2 loose balls from him.

His figures could have been even better if his team had fielded better.

excellent prospect, he was the best bowler in this match

Was there speed cameras? What pace was he operating at?

Can anyone confirm? As a fellow "Akif", I'm excited for my namesake and hope he succeeds!

140-ish speed.

Wasn't too slow.

138-142 KPH mostly.

His control was very impressive. Easily the best pace bowler on show tonight to be honest.

His jump is a little too high, he goes up rather than forward. If he can work on that, he will have more control of his body and possibly a bit more pace.

Great to hear, chaps!

140ish is more than good enough. Especially considering the fact that he is still relatively new to cricket...

If he already has good control, he can focus on improving his pace and that is easily doable as proven by the likes of Shaheen!

Looks like a excellent prospect love the action and the jump already bowling at 140 with control and movement

He was getting the ball to curve back nicely into the right-handed batsmen at a very good pace too.

The best thing is, I feel like t20 is his weakest format. He will be a handful with the new ball in ODIs and tests.

Imo he has potential than hasnain cause this man has skills other than pace, he is not one dimensional

Yes. I said this during the national t20. If he can get his leap moving forward a bit more he can add 3-5 Ks on to his speed.

Yes he looked very impressive.

Speed wise this is his breakdown in KPH:

120-132: 1 ball
133-139: 17 balls
140+: 6 balls

Top speed 143.49

Seems we never learn from our stupid mistakes and spray guns like Wahab Riaz.
Control and accuracy should be the key instead of pace. Yes he can bowl 140 but he was pitching at the right areas and seaming both ways when his pace was around 136-138 km/hr. Whenever Akif tried to deliver fast he went for runs and lost control.

Those fixated on pace alone should follow Musa Khan and realize the problem.

His action looks pretty similar to Zaheer Khan. Can definitely swing the ball at good pace.

Certainly a prospect to look out for.

It was simply a response to the discussion - I do agree with your point.

His quickest ball was hit for 4.

Shaheen became lethal after he started touching 145+ consistently in t20 so Pace does matter along with accuracy

Hasnain is garbage

A 6 foot+, well built fast bowler who is still in his teens and bowls in the 150s..... yeah I can see why he’s garbage...

Before you say ‘pace isnt everything hasnt he won quetta the last two games?

I loved Shane Watson’s face when he saw the second ball of Akif’s first over nip back, beat his inside edge and go just over the stumps. His face was saying ‘what is going on here? This is T20 and a flat wicket and a bowler no one outside of Pakistan has ever heard of, bowling unplayable deliveries!’

Satisfying match to watch - Hasnain, Musa, Akif all bowled well and with plenty of pace on a tough wicket for bowlers. None of them are ready yet for intl cricket... but good works in progress.

Lovely bowler - was really impressed with his starting two overs. Hope to see him get wickets! Will be keenly following his career growth.

Smooth action, good pace and bounce, got the ball to move back in for the right hander. Exciting times continue for Pak cricket!

Really good bowling spell with movement bounce and decent pace and I love his run up with big jump

It reminded me the young Amir who also bowled such a ball against an Aussie in 2010.

Akif looks very promising.

Very promising but needs to development in bowling Yorker didnt see 1 Yorker but very good promising player

The thing I like about him is that he thinks about his next delivery and doesn't just run in and bowl any old rubbish.

Subtle changes of action, changes of line and wrist position.

Smart bowler.

I say this in terms of him being expensive and in all honesty he'll get trashed by India. True he has performed well in the past 2 games but honestly when he first came to the scene he got trashed.

Not really, he's got potential and is improving. Bowled well yesterdat

I would say you can invest in better bowlers than him.

I knew Naseem would do well and he's my pick for the world cup. I reckon Naseem, Shaheen Shah and Akif Javed/Haris Rauf would be good and also add to boot a pace allrounder in anwar ali/amer yamin.

Haris Rauf who's my fav and the only one to do really well in Australia is letting me down with his recent string of performances for Lahore so he could easily be replaced if he doesn't show improvement.

If you want to beat India or Australia then we really need a good pace battery (at least 3 specialist pacers and allrounder).

My pick for the world cup:

1. Ahsan Ali
2. Babar Azam (c)
3. Haider Ali
4. Umar Amin
5. Shadab Khan
6. Imad Wasim
7. Muhammed Rizwan (wk)
8. Amer Yamin/Anwar Ali
9. Haris Rauf/Akif Javed
10. Naseem Shah
11. Shaheen Shah Afridi

My picks so far

Kamran akmal
Sharjeel
Babar
Sarfraz
Azam khan
Iftikhar
Imad
Shadab
Harris Rauf
Naseem
Shaheen

Hafeez
Fakhar
Nawaz
Amir/wahab

It goes without saying that he has a lot to learn and needs to improve considerably. But my point was, with the speed and build he has, you cannot call him garbage.

Any bowler can get smashed by any team. These days there isn't a bowler who won't get carted around every now and again. Especially against India, one of the strongest batting lineups.

Don't think he's injured.

They are playing legends like Faheem instead.

If infuriating if that's the case. I don't think any of the bowlers they're playing are better than him. I just can't understand it.

Akif bowling to Hafeez and Butt, expierenced bats of Pak:)

Finally he's fit and top performance again.

Not hundred percent though, wasn't bowling 140ks.

Good to see him back in action for Islamabad v Quetta today
